I can agree with that; possibly the wrong thread for it though.

In fairness, what we know of Chrissy leaves her a fairly shallow and spiteful character; she was given pretty much the same choice as Starlight was, In a role-reversal that reminds me strongly of Daydream Shimmer and Midnight Sparkle, and rejected it flatly.

Nothing in Pony is ever set in... erm, I mean permanent. Each of the three villains can be released, separately, at some future point, and another attempt made to rehabilitate them, but as most multi-step programmes say, first you have to WANT to change.

And who else would turn against her lifelong mentor and friend just to defend her daughter, and demand to be sent to the moon in her place if it came down to it? As much as I enjoyed Past Sins, it *is* fanfic, so opens a can of worms - you could as easily write a fanfic where dashie formally adopts scoots, and is Best Mom (for example)

Since the topic isn't about what's makes a good mother vs bad mother...

Queen Chrysalis (before "To Where and Back again") I see her as a evil stepmother or  Mother Gothel.  I understand these mothers are only interested in their own intentions but  at the same you can't help it but to noticed the "motherly side" of them.  I always see Queen Chrysalis as queen of the hive who does what "mother knows best". Queen Chrysalis may be selfish and only cares about conquering, but in some sense she does cares for her children by making sure they have enough "love" to survive on. I don't buy the idea how Queen chrysalis knew they can live without feeding off love since if you're born and rise who you are, how could you possibly know? I doubted she knew.  I think Queen Chrysalis is upset how all her children turns against her. While at the same, there's nothing wrong with breaking away from this "abuse" but I wish they could do something about her to resolve around it beside making her a just one selfish "evil" mother. She did displayed a sense of loneliness. I think the relationship between a mother and her children to get resolved could be one the best parenting/ children relationship example.  

idk I just think the idea of 'imperfect' mother is what makes mom character interesting and at the least, more relatable. Also impactful when resolving it with their children.

This is a hard question. Pear Butter has of all mothers my favorite design, but I also like the how Twilight Velvet was characterized. They all have pros and contras in my opinion. I honestly can not say which one is my favorite.

Phyllis Cloverleaf is my favorite MLP mom in the franchise. She has a nice design with big golden curls for her mane, and I just think her interactions with her son are adorable. I can see a lot of problems in their relationship though, which makes her an interesting character for me.

 

In regards to Generation 4 however, my favorite pony mom is probably Princess Cadance. She's such a sweet and comforting character I've always liked, and I like that her youthful spirit remained even after having a child. Plus, in my opinion, she has pretty much the best singing voice in the show.
