I gave making a banner a shot. Being completely new to this whole sorta thing, I hope I didnt do too bad.

Tons of great work being posted here. I've never seen so many MLP Forums banners at once before! I would be more than happy to feature most of these on the site itself, especially if each came with its own colour scheme for the buttons and search bar.

 

Oh I see. Okay my bad. Also, are you guy's sure it's a good idea? To make it so a person can change it to whatever they want. I think that when we all have the same banner it connects us in a way.

 

There is no 'guys', I am the only one working on it.

I am adding the option so you have a choice, because choice is always good. ( It's purely optional and easy to change. )

 

I just wanted to add to this that although Neikos is the only developer working on the Chrome extension, it is official and as such, any updates to it will need to be run past me. Part of the motive for artists to create new banners for us every week is to get their work showcased seen hundreds of thousands of times, and I've always thought of the weekly banner swap as a community bonding activity. Incidentally, we've been working on a new addition to the site to automate the submission of banners somewhat and make it an easier, more obvious process. So... I might request that Neikos include a "remote reset" function or something in the extension.

 

Another concern I'd like to bring up is, won't including all these banners with the extension balloon its filesize? Just something to consider.

I have a quick question. Would you be adverse to me cropping a few of my wallpapers to be used as banners? I realize this is sort of an easy way out so I figured I'd ask. I feel a few of them would make nice banners here.

I_Wesley125 is currently working on a Firefox extension that is essentially a port of the initial version of Neikos's Chrome extension. Meaning, it's only a notifications panel. I cannot guarantee that the banner changer will make it into that.

It is not supposed to be a contest! It is meant to give everyone the biggest freedom of choice regarding banners. Look at it like backgrounds ^^ You can use the default, one you choose, or just a rotation.
