What was your first exposure to MLP?

My first time watching anything related to My Little Pony was watching "My Little Pony Tales" I don't remember anything except the theme song.

An advert on TV for the toys from an older generation, I specifically remember the phrase "Based on the television show" and I sat in the house with my parents and said: "Who would ever watch a show about girly ponies?"

...Then over a decade later, I did.

I don’t really have any memories of MLP when I was a kid, I just knew it existed. However, the day before Thanksgiving last year, a female friend of mine (who watched FiM as a child) sat me down and made me sit through the first two episodes of Season 1. I don’t know what happened, but I was hooked. I’ve been binging MLP since then

I suppose it was the G3 toys, I remember seeing them as a kid in Walmart when I was with my parents buying a gift for a friend. I didn't take much note of them, they were just "girl toys" to little me.

I had a couple VHS tapes from G1, which were pretty good. I never knew the MLP franchise would become such a life-changer.

I think I saw the commercials for the G3 toys when I watched Cartoon Network during my childhood. As for my first exposure to G4, the earliest I can recall was when I started seeing MLP profile pics on the internet communities I visited in late-2011.

I don't know. I was always aware of it, I knew it was a cartoon and toys aimed at girls. Then I heard there was a My Little Pony show that a lot of guys love. I figured it was a joke but I checked out FIM and loved it!

I wanted my brother to jump from a great height into the water and promised him that I would watch a couple of episodes of my little pony, because he knew that such animated series frankly pissed me off. After months of denying it I watched the first couple episodes while my brother laughed at my reaction. Later, I just wanted to know what all the action was about the cartoon and the fandom. Before that, the only thing I knew was that there was some purple dude (Spike) and a Mexican kid with a toaster and I didn't even think about the other stuff.

By the time I was old enough to form memories, I had a G2 pony, some G2 McDonald's ponies, and 2 G1 ponies. I think my first pony was G2 Skyskimmer (she looks like Fluttershy), or at least she was the first pony I got brand new. I even took my first ponies with me to the last BABScon last weekend.

"Friendship is musical" is what brought me into FiM, the fandom and this forums. I'm pretty sure I have seen some MLP toys when I was  elementary school, or have seen some merchandise, or maybe clips from an earlier TV show. However, all of these were pretty small and short exposures.

I think my first exposure were from friends showing me MLP videos. I believe the first video I saw was the season 2 finale video and song, "This Day in Aria." Afterwards, it was a friend showing me the video, Epic Pie Time.
