Opinions of haters?

Ew, gay. Ladies and gentlemen, this has been my experience with haters. And my response is (as always) how much of the show have you watched? And I always ask this cause they always sputter for a moment before changing the direction of the conversation. Works wonders. :P

PIE. Lot's of pie. And bacon, and Dr. Pepper, and popcorn, and hot cocoa. Buck it, if it's junk food I'll eat it!

Well, even though I was doing it more as a precaution... actually, moreso so I do not hog the TV. I just record the episodes and then wait until late at night, as in midnight, or when I get up before anyone else is up (I even delete some episodes after I have already seen them even when I'm sure they are not taking up needed space). Evidently not early enough, based on my previous post.

Well, whenever I encounter a brony hater, they call me either gay, a pedophile, weird, or just plain creepy. None of these are true of course, but it gets blown out of proportion. My parents hate bronies, so I have to deal with them everyday. It's kind of annoying when your parents make fun of you, but what can you do, y'know? My friends simply tease and harass me, and teachers call me weird as well.

I have only met a grand total of three bronies in real life. Everyone else is anti-brony.

My family (as far as I know) is fine with me being a self-proclaimed Brony, so I don't have to deal with personal home bullshit about it.

I remember going on Facebook once and one of my friend's fathers basically called me out and called me a faggot for liking a girl show, and even went as far to say that "it's against God's word." I told my friend about that and he un-friended his own father, because little did the dad know that his own son is a Brony himself.

Kind of sad, really, when a television show tears relationships apart.

What God does this man worship? Not the same God as I'd worship, and I have the type of personality that would prefer to receive more Baptist and Jehovah's Witness pamphlets from strangers. It might be a bit awkward if I just decide to waltz into the Baptist church across the street by myself, but it is probably the building that houses the free Wi-Fi that could help me land my first job. And my family is not Baptist at all. Edited by GuillermoGage

That reminds me of this one post I found when I googled Bronies that linked to some fundamentalist rant that said that My Little Pony is the work of the devil, seriously this idiot isn't even joking. Make sure you are not drinking or eating anywhere when you read this because it was so over the top ridiculous that I literally laughed until it hurt and then laughed some more. Even some of the most rabid brony haters will laugh at how stupid the claims are.

One of those just links to the Landover Baptist website, which is satire.

and the other one appears to reference only '80s-era cartoons, which implies that they are not talking about Friendship is Magic.

And that era of cartoons was lacking in positive messages and was more about commercialism and glorifying fighting and physical conflict.

I ran somehow into him on this website where I had Derpy as a avatar and he started saying that I was gay for liking the show and so on while I was being civil until he got so mad that he left.

best feeling ever.

I experience brony haters all day, erryday. :P My whole family, and almost all my friends are brony haters. One of them, though, is in the target demographic, so she likes it... The rest just dis it without seeing any episodes (well, my sisters have watched a few, but not enough to really enjoy the characters' complexities).

I've met brony haters ,but only those encounters are pretty rare.

I've met one on Openstudy before where i was answering some peoples questions and then i got a message from some person asking if i was a person. He/She asked if i was a brony and i responded yes then the other person starts spamming me with messages like "Oh dear lord you need help." Of course i just ignored him but its still bad too see how intorant some people can be.

Also i've met some on Omegle but i did that on purpose lol.

I don't get them very often. In fact many people don't even know. I try to stay as Incogneto I can about it. Most people who do know in real life are like "Okay what ever floats your boat" The one time I got trashed for liking My Little Pony was on a Yankees forum. You see there were a bunch of people flaming this one Yankee fan about being a Brony. (He has an avatar of Twilight Sparkle) And I foolishly jumped in to take some of the heat that he was being dealt.

I didn't know that was satire, but can you blame me for mistaking it for being real with all the ridiculous things fundies have said over the years?

That maybe the case, but alot of people think that generation 1 and the current generation of My Little Pony are the same that is what I thought when I first heard of Friendship is Magic. Yes indeed alot of cartoons back then were commercialized but the sad thing is that even those cartoons are better than most of the so called cartoons aired today with the current My Little Pony being one of the few exceptions. I don't see how cartoons glorified violence back then as they don't really seem all that violent to me, the 1980's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for example was toned down significantly from it's comic book counterpart yes there was fighting and lots of it but most of the Foot Clan Ninja were turned into robots for the show as destroying robots wasn't seen as violent or disturbing as killing actual people.

You used the word "fundies", which is severely overused and I can't even take it seriously because it sounds like "fun" and "undies". Sounds like someone is not particularly Poe's Law-savvy.

Don't get me wrong I am not against all Christians, I just don't like the crazies that falsely claim to be Christians. And I know what the word "fundies" sounds like and I use that word in part because it does sound funny and is my little way of saving "I am not taking you people seriously". And though I will admit I have never heard the term "Poe's Law" before I actually am familiar with the concept. One of the best satire pieces of all time A Modest Proposal where the author sarcastically suggested that Irish children by cooked and eaten was largely misinterpreted by the general public as seriously advocating cannibalism when he was making fun of the way the British treated the Irish.

I was required to read that in eleventh or twelfth grade. Jonathan Swift is the reason why the floating island in the children's anime movie "Castle in the Sky" is called Laputa.

Also, being a "fundamentalist" should mean that somebody is interested strictly in the "fundamental" elements of their written creed.

It should mean that, but in the real world there is often a huge difference between what something should mean and what it actually means. Hating people for no good reason is not the fundamentals of the Christian creed, it is a perversion of it. Since we are getting a bit off topic here, I will just stop this here and let you have the last word.

Well, I can't think of anything else to say, other than that, uh... my six-year-old niece has come over today, she can read, and she recognized "My Little Pony" on the DISH program guide when I was scrolling through the Hub and put on Pound Puppies.

I put the two-parter first episodes on this laptop when I heard her bring it up. Those are the episodes that introduce the characters. But I don't push Bronydom on anybody.

I remember when I was a hater.. it was... *shudder* a horrible time.

Really, I haven't had much virtual hate, or real life hate, on my bronyism.

Well, lucky me; some of my best friends are active Brony haters :( That's pretty much why I'm so secretive. They aren't total jerks or anything, but anytime someone brings up anything pony related they instantly start slamming bronies, and I'm all like:

I mostly just ignore the haters. They typically turn out to be trolls or condescending jerks I wouldn't like to be associated with. There is the occasional person who doesn't know what they're hating, but I find those people are much rarer. I am transparent when it comes to me being a brony, but I'm not the kind of person you could look at and identify as one. Even when I wasn't a brony, I classified myself as neutral because quite honestly, I don't care what people watch or do in their spare time! I am not that petty.

I've gotten the usual snide remarks in the DA forums, but I've developed such a thick-skinned "roll with the punches" attitude it never gets very far.

"Pony fics suck anyway"

"Okay, how ya been man?"

"You know, I don't know who or what you are Methos, and I know you don't want to hear this, but you did teach me something. You taught me that Life's about change, about learning to accept who you are, good or bad. And I thank you for that."

I've never personally run into an anti-brony before.(Probably because I'm a girl and all...) Although, I've seen a lot of haters in youtube video comment boxes.

Only hate I've run into personally was from within the fandom itself. XD

If they're really your best friends, you shouldn't be afraid to tell them you like the show! If they want to slam bronies after you tell them that you're one, then they are jerks. Try to convince them that bronies deserve respect, since they (hopefully) respect you. You need to be OPEN! :)

...

I have 5 best friends: 2 are bronies, 1 is a brony supporter, 1 neutral, and the last is a BIG HATER! We just ignore him as he tries to insult us for liking ponies.

What's funny is that we are trying to convince him to let us have a big MLP season 3 premier brony party at his house since he's the only one with the hub out of anyone we know! When I asked him personally he was all like "No, I don't want a bunch of fags in my house." and I'm like "But there's already a huge one that lives there!" (Best comeback ever).

There are about 10 bronies I know IRL that would love to have a season 3 premier together... Only if we could convince Dante to drop his hate, and let a bunch of teenagers watch My Little Pony in his house. B)

If you can believe it, the biggest haters I've had to deal with are my best friends. I'm still working on it, but their original opinion, as you might have guessed, being based on no facts whatsoever, was incredibly wrong, calling us all "immature faggots" (the irony of the statement...).
