Open Letter From Ol' Sarge

Ol' Sarge

Recommended Posts

Really, because he can be arrested, and jurries don't like pedifiles, even potential pedifiles

Yes really, this isn't the middle ages where you can scream witch and they'd be burned at the stake

Worst case scenario he actually goes to court where the judge would more than likely immediately throw out the case. There is absolutely no evidence he even knew the age of the person he was talking to

I found another brony website and came accross this message

-- Attention Parents: This community is not for young children, we are "bronies", google it. And no it doesn't mean we are "adult only" as in inappropriate content, but we don't want little kids here.

I think it'd be good if they could place it somewhere for the anonymous users that don't have an account can see

Maybe they have Rule 34 in there and they wouldn't want kids joining due to their immaturity and stupidity.

Just saying.

Nope, it's a minecraft server, they added as a precaution of the adult users, and yeah, immaturity and stupidity are two perfect reasons as well......

I don't get why she took part in the game? She new what she was getting into, when posting on the forum.

Exactly!

Why didn't the dad ask "Why did you post there in the first place?" xc

Dude, courts do not like pedifiles. (Prisoners do not even respect them.) You have good view of the justice system, and i wish it were so, but he can be in serious trouble if he goes to court. Not to mention, the publicity of it can be just as bad.

Wow. I've seen strict parents, but this takes the cake. This is a prime example of why there are age restrictions for Facebook, Twitter, etc. Kids will get themselves into trouble, get viruses, and sometimes even spread them to other people. You don't deserve to be like this, Ol' Sarge.

WHAT THE F*CK IS THIS SH*T! This is a failure in human logic and reasoning. Lay low Sarge. It will either fix itself, or one of us will fix it.

I know who you're talking about though.

I really don't have a good view of the court at all, but there is such a thing as evidence and there is none to implicate Ol' Sarge here... You guys are wildly throwing this out of proportion.

He could even make a claim saying his freedom of speech is being assaulted if he were to even go to trial over this.

Many strangers in countries kiss each other when saying hello and goodbye, this is nothing. And saying you would "date" someone is equally as ambiguous. I could tell an 8 year old girl "it's a date!" and take her out for ice cream.

You guys really are making an argument out of nothing here

Nope, not at all. If the other side has a good lawyer, it can be framed in this light. I have seen some of the quirkiust things happen in politics and courts.

Honestly I think you watch too much TV shows lol. Sure it's possible, anything's possible, but that would have to be one seriously backwards court for something like that to happen. Seriously backwards. Like on the verge of insanity.

No, I have just studied it enough. Several Government classes, A Constitutional Law class, several legal/criminal justice friends, and my Anthropology degree. (Of which, I am taking more classes on political and legal anthropology and Constitutional History)

Your wanted here so don't worry. ^-^

All we want is that you be responsible on the internet and that is all.

As I am responsible.

Nope, you're 14, as am I, by children they mean people less than 10 years old, that aren't well-aware of what the forums are truly about

Ah, I see. I agree completely then. Children probably shouldn't be wandering on this site where others swear and post mature content. =]

Yeah, the little girl just thought it'd be cool if she could join, since it's a show she likes, she however doesn't comprehend that there's a difference between bronies, and well 6 year olds who watch the show....

I can't believe that, really hope things go well for you. The parent has some nerve to call without understanding what its like on forums especially since it was underlined on game section of the website and that you could not tell his daughters age, like other members said why didn't he ask his daughter why she posted there?. If the police call I expect them to understand the situation so I wish you the best of luck.

Wait, so let me get this straight.

>parents let 8 year old on forum for teens and adults with mostly teens and adults as members

>8 year old joins forum game

>gets upset when someone replies to her in forum game in the way that they are supposed to according to the game (or maybe not upset, maybe she just let it slip accidentally to her father)

>father flips shits even though he let her on there in the first place and there was no way Sarge could have known her age from her profile.

Sarge, I'm so sorry about this situation, you do not deserve to go through this, and that man has no business trying to ruin your life when he should have known what happens on the Internet in the first place. Is he technologically naive?

Why do I have the feeling that this little girl was hanging around in the forums games, without supervision obviously, and then she called her dad that happened to be watching TV in the living room and he was completelly unaware that this was a game and she shouts at him:

"Look daddy, I have a boyfriend!"

"What are you talking about" he answer

"It is true, this guy kissed me, he likes me daddy! look!"

*dad takes a look*

Shame on the father.

I understand your scenario Ol' Sarge. I have a friend who went through the same issue when he was in correspondence with a younger individual online, it was a completely harmless relationship and the parents took it so far that my best friend got a letter from the authorities and ended up in court for a year and had to undergo a two year probation and therapy. It was probably the most hellish thing he had to go through for something he really did not do. I hope you don't have to go through the same thing because it would be shit.

Best thing to do is just remove most of your private information from public eye and stay under the radar for a bit. It's not much advice I can give but it may prevent people associated with this guy to try to exploit you more.

I hope for the best for you and your concerned family. Posted Image

That is really terrible, I'm sorry about your friend. Seems like all of this has to do with young kids on the internet... and teenagers wonder why parental controls were invented for tv, computers, what-not.... to avoid this kinda thing...
