I remember long ago, back in my years of first and second grade; Weird Al was the coolest thing since....Ever? There was a time where my buddies and I had every one of his songs memorized, and everyone would listen in awe at his brilliance and creativity...

But you know, as soon as the internet became more-widely-used; anyone, anywhere, could become a "Weird Al." Anyone could create their own parody renditions of popular songs, and publish them on sharing-sites for all to hear. Now you can hardly watch any video on youtube without seeing a parody-song as a "Related."

The world is now full of "Weird Al"s, and now I could care less for the real/original--or any number of the fake/new--Weird Al. There are now too many parody songs to keep track of, so why bother? I honestly can no longer see anyone's fascination with this guy seeing as how anyone with any smidgen of creativity could do the exact same thing just as easy.

That's wrong...Very few people can parallel his talent for this stuff.

I can see what you mean about other's doing it, but not many are very good, or they lack that certain spark WAY has.

Eh, You're entitled to yo' own views though I guess.

oh and my copy of the Alapalooza album has been signed by Weird Al Yankovic. my brother got it signed for me when he went to a concert.

That is sooo lucky!

Damnit! I wish could ever even See Al himself, screw anything else, just hear him singing, live, something like Party in the CIA...In front of the CIA HQ :)

That would be epic!

I like "White and Nerdy" and "I'm Fat" out of his songs. His older songs are better. He's such a silly guy.

Trapped in the Drive-Thru was genius. It needed to be as long as it was, wouldn't have had the same effect otherwise IMO. And of course, there's all his other great material. He's got a knack for it, what can you say?

I used to listen to it when I was little kid lol Then I kinda just.. moved on. I now find it insulting to great music, I find it cheesy and I find it unbearably irritating when people constantly talk about him...ESPECIALLY if they either don't know, or appreciate the songs he is making a parody of.

UHF was a great movie. Emo Phillips and Michael Richards cracked me up, as did Al, of course.

As for saying that Al's music is "insulting" to great music, I don't think that's the case. The man makes quality parodies, better than the crap on youtube. There was once a time when having Weird Al parody your song was the highest of honors. The only time I can recall anyone being mad about it was Coolio and the "Amish Paradise" incident.

I know from interviews with Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic that Kurt Cobain was flattered to have him parody Smells Like Teen Spirit.

Just listening to "Weird Al", browsing the forums, and thought, "how many others here are also into the king of parodies?" so i'm just curious. If you're into Al, let's start a conversation. If not, then that's fine with me. Stay here, move on, whatever you want. So yeah, that's all i have to say right now.

Weird Al !

I love almost all his parodies. He has such a creative mind :3

The first and only concert I ever went to was a Weird All concert for my birthday, a few years back.

I used to listen to some of his songs. I like the song "White and Nerdy" it's catchy lol

Here's some of the lyrics lol

I've been browsing, inspectin'
X-men comics you know I collect 'em
The pens in my pocket
I must protect 'em
My ergonomic keyboard never leaves me bored
Shopping online for deals on some writable media
I edit Wikipedia
I memorized Holy Grail really well
I can recite it right now and have you ROTFLOL
I got a business doing websites
When my friends need some code who do they call?
I do HTML for them all
Even made a homepage for my dog!
Yo! I got myself a fanny pack
they were having a sale down at the GAP
Spend my nights with a roll of bubble wrap
POP POP! Hope no one sees me gettin' freaky!

I like most of his stuff, but some is kind of annoying :/

I love the polka mashups of pop music, though. Those are always great :)

My favorite of his songs would probably be Couch Potato. I've always found Eminem funny for some reason, and it get's even funnier with Weird Al.

Yeah i knew i was in love with his music once i heard the polkas. it's takes a certain kind of genius, and no small amount of insanity to turn some songs like "Down With the Sickness" and "Bohemian Rhapsody" into upbeat polkas
