yes thats a cool master HeatSink.

And no. I only select Antec chassis for my rigs. Completely screw/tool less system.. make for upgrading, cleaning super easy

expect with the server I didn;t pre-build that.. I got it on a very good cheap deal at the time... Despite being a pre-buidl acer.. the case is also screw/less including swaping the mainboard out...

Linux does what win don't! Has anyone seen that Youtube video?
I'm just kidding. I plan on getting Windows 10 eventually. That give me time to save up some cash.

I had a windows 7 Asus pc that I purchased off Craigslist. Sadly, I think it crashed and died. The fans were loud, and because of that, I couldn't concentrate. That's probably the reason I don't attempt to revive it. Plus W10 is coming out, so I rather just get a different PC. It would over heat too. Specs: AMD quad core, 4 gigs of memory, 2 terabyte hard drive, 750 watt power supply, windows 7 duel boot with Linux mint, and a Raidon graphics card.

Now, I took my parents old Dell PC. It still had Windows XP installed, so I did a complete install of Linux ultra secure on a new 120gb ssd drive. This Dell computer originally had 1gb of ram, so I took from my dead computer its memory. Current specs: single core cpu, 4gb of ram, 120gb ssd drive, and the cheapest graphics card I could buy. Now I have a computer that is reliable, quiet, responsive, and does what I need it to do. I'm satisfied. But I'm really wanting a more powerful computer with Adobe programs, can download emulators, and play any PC game I wish. I can only get that with Windows. I don't think I go mac. Too expensive. I'm planning on duel booting with linux and W10.

Oh yeah all my computers are desktops. I usually stay away from laptops unless in the future I find a need for one.

My current rig, built back in 2010 or 2011 if I remember correctly:

  • Intel Core i7-2600K 3.4 GHz 8 MB Cache
  • Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H
  • Palit NE5X56001142F GeForce GTX 560
  • Kingston 8(2x4)GB
  • HITACHI Deskstar 7K3000, 1.5 TB (just recently added a Seagate, but my installation of Ubuntu to it went spectacularly wrong)
  • ASUS 24X DVD Burner
  • Antec High Current Gamer Series HCG-900 900W
  • Zalman Z9 Plus Atx Mid Tower
  • Two 24-inch LED monitors (DVI)
  • Running Windows 7 64-bit  and planning to add Ubuntu or another Linux distro.
  • Currently just runs with fan cooling since I don't bother with overclocking.

I own a HP Compaq Presario CQ43, here's the specs

Processor: AMD E-300 APU 1.30 GHz 1MB L2 cache

Graphic Card: AMD Radeon 6310 integrated memory up to 4GB

RAM: Originally 2 GB but I replaced it with a single 4GB DDR3

HDD: 500GB 5400 RPM

Screen: 14" LED 1366x768x32

OS: Originally Windows 7 32 bit but changed it to Windows 8.1 64 bit

This is a budget gaming laptop (well close to 'gaming'). I mostly bring this laptop for almost every occasion since it can still play high end games in the lowest settings (like GTA V, that game's awesome). I'm currently taking it to college.

I got myself a brand new laptop to hopefully tide myself over until my desktop gets back in working condition (hopefully soon!):

Intel i7-4510U @ 2.00 GHz 2.60 GHz (I have no idea what in the world that is supposed to mean... lol)

12GB RAM

1TB HD

Windows 8.1

That's all I really know about it. It has integrated graphics, so it wouldn't be able to play my game... But that's almost twice as much RAM as my desktop. xD And my desktop has an i5 processer... Weird.

i3 3110m @ 2.4 GHz

NVidia GT610M

4GB RAM

750GB HDD

Windows 8

Buck my life, I can't bear playing Borderlands without good fps.

  • 2 weeks later...

i7 @ ~3.8GHz complete with copper heatsinks

GTX 870 (i.e. laptop equivalent of a 770)

8 GB DDR3

1TB HDD

All in a laptop for ~$1400, so not too bad.

inb4 should've built a desktop. I know, but I take this thing all over the place, the portability is totally worth it.

Signature now 99% less edgy!

Edits because I forgot peripherals.

Dual-boot Mint. You've got 1.5 TB disk space total so I would assume you can find 20 GB to install Linux.

@@Knight Hadron,

well... I will not use my backup HDD for something like that... the less that one is used, the longer it lasts, and I cannot afford losing everything (like my passwords for over 300 websites and services)

So I still have:

C Partition, System (50GB free)

E Partition, Recordings (230GB free, but I record ~500MB/minute so that fills up quite fast)

F Partition, Games & Programs (80GB free)

I guess I could install it on F... but I don't like to see when my HDDs go red in windows ._.
I already hate it so much when there is less than 1/3 of the HDD free... I even uninstall games to keep over 1/3 of my F Partition free (which is currently not, should uninstall something)
It's like a obsession, I CANNOT fill a HDD to more that 2/3 ._.

Ah. Now I understand. You could run off a flash drive, perhaps, but I dunno how Mint would like that. Me trying it on Ubuntu ultimetely crashed things up badly. *shrugs shoulders* Try cygwin :)
