Twilight is not capable enough of seeing the evil in others to be president.  Plus she tends to crack under pressure.

Pinkie Pie wouldn't take the job seriously enough or be able to handle the day to day affairs all that well.

Applejack is way too honest and inflexible to make for a good president.

Fluttershy is too meek and suffers from some of the same issues as Twilight.  She would be taken advantage of.

Rarity would be passable, but is too dramatic.  She would also be too generous causing problems.

Rainbow Dash is the one.  She would have the tough love with loyalty that would make for a good pres.

Maybe, but she did lie in Look before you Sleep when she said she had something to do at home in order to get out of the sleepover. Also, in The Last Roundup, she breaks a Pinkie promise and lies to her friends about how she didn't get 1st place. And she did these things out of cowardice.

Yeah, you do have a point. Don't get me wrong, I have always thought the writers have forgotten she's supposed to be the honest one on more than one occasion. Especially in season 1, but to be honest, I think a lot of the writers were still trying to find who the characters were. Applejack appears much less dishonest as the seasons have gone by.

In Party of One it was clear that her lying was intentional by the writing. She was sweating bullets trying to lie to Pinkie for the sake of the surprise party, whereas other ponies had a lot less difficulty lying to Pinkie. The Last Roundup was intentional too. I think the fact that she lied was done to emphasize just how deathly scared she was of her friends finding out about her failure. She didn't want to disappoint them which drove her to lie. In that sense, I think she was very relatable. And in her mind, she hadn't lied to them about what had happened, she just avoided telling them what had happened by skipping breakfast. It's clear that she lied in that episode, but I think it was done to show that Applejack has her limits.

As for Look Before You Sleep, I got nothing to say on that one. She definitely lied without good reason. On one hand, I think the writing was just weak in some areas during the first season, but on the other hand, it's a testament to how human Applejack is. Still, I wholeheartedly agree that her honesty with her friends has yet to be properly demonstrated. There are more examples of her being dishonest than honest.

But still, AJ for pres.

Twilight Sparkle would make a fantastic Prime Minister for Australia. She is clever and determined. Also, she's a princess now, so she's SUPPOSE to be a leader.

Without a doubt Applejack, she is honest which would be a refreshing change from the lying scum we have had for presidents in recent years knows what it is like to have to earn an honest living. Has strong morals and values so she can't be bought off, and though she can be stubborn at times is very mature and level headed in most cases.

Fluttershy: Not even remotely close to assertive enough.  As much as I like her, She would be easily taken advantage of.  I also doubt that she'd want the position anyways.

Pinkie Pie: As fun as it sounds, she would come off as unprofessional to many, and the nation as a whole could lose a lot of respect from our aliies.

Twilight: Probably my second choice.  She's intelligent and likes things to get done promptly.  However, she's very prone to panicking when things don't go right (which will always happen).  I also feel like she would try to do things too closely to the books, and not branch out to do things the way that she thinks they should be done.

Rarity: Not an awful option, but certainly not the best.  While I feel that she would care for everyone, I also feel like she would put too much effort into things that are not important.

Rainbow Dash: I'd put her as my third choice.  She'd have no problem with patriotism, and I'm sure that she'd make decisions that she thinks are in everyone's best interest, but she's way too quick to resort to violence.  She'd also hate having to sit behind a desk 24/7.

AppleJack: My top choice.  Even if she isn't as honest as her element would imply her to be, she's a hard-working pony who wants to get things done.  She's also shown to be a fairly decent leader if I remember correctly (I can't think of any examples at the moment, but I feel like they're there...).  Also, her compulsion to do things herself might be good for the nation as a whole (or backfire horribly... It could go either way).

As much as it pains me to say... Twilight Sparkle... as much as I don't want to say her, she would by far be best for the job lol.. I mean really.. the others would have major faults that would make them a crappy president.

This thread appears to be discussing MLP:FiM in some way, shape or form. Thus, it has been sentenced to Show Discussion.

This is an automatically generated message, by the way.

For me, it's a toss up between Applejack and Twilight Sparkle.  Both have already shown themselves to be very adept at overseeing organized activities.  Twilight has been portrayed as a born leader from day one.  She just needs a little more seasoning and control over her OCD tendencies.  Applejack needs to work on her honesty.  Running a large country requires one to not tell the truth from time to time.  As Sugar Cube and Blue Moon stated, AJ can lie when necessary, but it is difficult for her to do because it runs counter to her nature.

For the sake of this poll, I voted for AJ because I like her more.  :P

I'm going to pick a bit of a dark horse (get it? ) and go with Luna. She seems a bit more cynical than her sister and that may make her a better candidate to run in the real world.

Plus I want to see her be the first modern president whose inaugural address will not require a microphone.

Well I do say Applejack, not only is she best pony, but she is honest who would not want an honest pony for president? Besides she knows how hard everypony has to work. Unlike the others....
