mega thread What book are you reading?

For university, I'm reading a couple books on intelligence, counter-intelligence, and computer networking. Some are fun, some are drier than a desert.

For fun, I'm reading The Art of War (though that is also technically for university), a couple spy/espionage nonfiction books (again, also for school), and a crapton of fanfiction.

The book thief was such a great read, have you read her Inkheart series?

I think you're confusing The Book Thief with The Thief Lord, hehe. :)

I did read The Thief Lord a long time ago in elementary school, but I don't remember much about it.

Book Thief is about a girl in Nazi Germany who learns to read. Saw the movie, wanted to read the book for light reading.

Haven't gotten very far, but at where I am it's told from the perspective of Death (yes, pretty much as if the Grim Reaper were the narrator). A little eerie, but I can't wait to read more.

that is rather dark, i wouldn't expect that from a serious novel like that hmmm, but it also sounds like Hogfather, from Discworld, that's a series that eventually I have to try

About to start reading The Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler as an assignment for a class.

I recently finished The Lathe of Heaven by Ursula Le Guin for the same class, and it's an amazing book. I would suggest that everyone read it, it's that good of a book. The amount of depth it goes into in under two hundred pages would put many other books to shame.

I'm reading Spindle's End by Robin McKinley for the 4th or 5th time now (don't remember how many times I've read it, but it's been more than 3 I'm pretty sure). It's one of my favorite books and I love her unique take on the story of Sleeping Beauty! Fairy Tale retellings are some of my favorite books! <3 :fluttershy:

I'm currently reading "The Mother Tongue: English and How It Got That Way" by Bill Bryson. My teacher recommended it to me.

The book was written in 1990 so it's pretty outdated by now, and plus there's a lot of bias in the writing, but other than that I think it's a good book for anyone who likes historical linguistics.

I just finished reading the third book in a book series called "The Soulkeepers Series".

It has to do with fallen angels in Hell trying to take over the Earth and special people across the globe having genetic gifts that allow them to fight as God's army.

A fairly religious sequence of books, but still a fun and interesting read.

I started reading Spice & Wolf just yesterday. Been eager to check it out for a while now (love the Civ mod by Rarimi), but as I'm not really much of a reader, I wasn't sure if the light novel series would be the best choice for me.

Still, I went with it, and right now I'm about a quarter of the way through the first volume. Gotta say, I'm really enjoying it so far. :)

I was in the mood for something classic so I'm currently reading The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas.

The Book Thief was an amazing read! I have always liked historical fiction.

I am currently reading a book that I am required to read nightly and record it in my reading logs. It is titled Snake Head and it is about a man (who's name is not mentioned yet in the book until later on i assume) is trying to stop the operations of a mega terrorist organization called Scorpia, who has returned from a defeat 3 years ago. And if the operation does not end, Scorpia will slowly eliminate the world leaders one by one without the mysterious hero.

Andy Weir's "The Martian." It's the first book I've enjoyed this much in a long time and it is hilarious! I mean yeah, its cool too seeing the main character deal with being marooned on Mars and all, I certainly wouldnt be able to pull it off, but the sharp sarcastic wit is my kind of humour. Can't wait to see the movie when it comes out.
