I can't believe it...Epic music thread and only one person has posted Two Steps From Hell...HOW CAN THIS BE SO ?

These are some of my favorite songs from TSFR

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=87JagU11lgo

Since I can only post two links I will just name the rest of the songs I really like.

Sky World. by Two Steps From Hell.

After the fall. by Two Steps From Hell.

He Who Brings The Night. by Two Steps From Hell.

Moving Mountains. by Two Steps From Hell.

Now some songs that aren't TSFH

Uganda. by Matthew L. Fisher.

Time Machine. by Water Flame

The Highway Man. by Loreena McKennitt

I could probably just keep naming songs...So I will most likely come back to this thread

and you would be welcome back! you come back and you bring those songs with you y'hear? you know loads which i want to listen to XD

While everyone else posts their orchestral-based music...

This is the only song to really get a reaction that fits the criteria Amelia is looking for - to me, it's slow, moving, and with a very nice wall-of-sound production style, amazingly heartfelt. The best part about it is the vocals (which I expect people to detest and immediately claw their ears out after) because despite the screaming, it's one of, it not the only, instance that really describes Townsend putting his heart and soul into a vocal performance.

oooh, i like the build up into 0:45 and the steadiness of it, but apart from that i think it's a little too repetitive... and the screaming isn't really for me

Both a legitimate post and a shameless plug here, but Dj Mokram's "One in the Chamber" is an absolutely epic arrangement of several tracks from a Metal Gear Solid game that doesn't get a whole lot of love. The arrangement really takes the overtones of the MGS games and their stealthy atmosphere and sticks them into a musical format. Highly recommended.

Oooh ooh a tough one! For me, it would have to be one of the early pioneers who popularized electronic music, Jean Michel Jarre:

Oxygene VIII

It is a haunting sound, when I listen, I always see images of Earth, cycles of life, death, awareness of consciousness and it seems to say something about the nature of the human condition.

If you listen to all Oxygene movements you will hear something very different in each, some I see quasars and exploding stars, others are more about the formation of seas and oceans on an otherwise barren rock in space. Then I see creatures rising up from this and civilizations formed. Every few years I spot something new I never saw before.

OR I suggest " Requiem Dies Irae " part of:

Mozarts Requiem in D Minor

It sounds like a cataclysmic end of a system - perhaps an epic political revolution or something similar.

E.S. pothsumus was A group made by two german brothers that composed lot of music similar to this. But as of late it seems as though the project died with one of the brothers. :(

I just remembered one epic music I once heard when I began to play Grandia. That game rivaled even Final Fantasy VII in its time in every aspect and the music is no exception.

The music I'm talking about is The Main Theme of Grandia.

Utterly beautiful song. Much as I love Devin, I've gotta kind of agree with you there, there's a lot of emotion in this song that he doesn't tend to capture with a lot of other music. The man's genius can't be denied, though :P

On topic, I find this to be a very powerful song.

Well I tried to hold back on posting this one, but I just couldn't.

This one was just epic, when I first heard this while playing in 2004 I got chills all over when fighting through a bazillion robots to get to one mad flying scientist to then battle a giant flying robot in a flying hovership.

Globus Preliator. I dare you not to start head banging at 2:12... fantastic note.

And Unsung War from Ace Combat 5. Honestly I think this awesome song was wasted on a flight simulator game.

I can't believe I actually forgot this one.

This may not be so epic for some, but for me this is one of the most epic musics I've heard.

I give you Battle Beyond the Stars composed by James Horner in 1980. While the movie may have been kinda mediocre, the music made it seem somewhat epic.

Here, have one of the most beautiful metal songs i've ever heard in my life. The outro is just something profound, it sends shivers down my back. I can't listen to this while i'm doing something, when the song gets to 7:34, i have to stop everything and just sit the hell down and listen. God, i can't. I just fucking can't. Seriously, give this a shot.
