Christian bronies: meet, greet, and mingle!

Late Sunday evening I received a phone call from my parents that my younger brother died in a car accident. As of this moment I'm still in denial, everything has a surreal feeling about it. At this stage even just talking a little bit about anything helps me. Thank you.

We're all here with you in spirit, if not in physical presence.  :sunny:

Jesus Christ. I don't know what to say. Only that I have two brothers of my own. My condolences and prayers to you and your family.

Thank you both, thank you all. I'm struggling to be more creative than just saying thank you to friends right now. I apologize.

Don't you be sorry at all. As you said, just needed to get it off your chest. Please just take care and be with your family. God bless.

Well to be honest the same happened to my mom's godfather around 4 months ago but except the shocking part is that he actually committed suicide and he wasn't known for any mental issues and we visited him just 3 days before he did it. What ever happened it must of been a issue that he kept to himself and never told anyone about or he became depressed over something and did it very quickly like within 2 days to 12 hours as he seemed completely fine and he was in a extremely happy mood when we last saw him. It's still a mystery of why he did it to this day but still I can say what it feels like to lose a family member as it's a case of another death in the family. But still the strange thing is that I have a strong feeling that everyone that's dead that I know of I will see again sometime in the future and it even goes for a boy called Johnny that was a kitchen worker in the 50s in a haunted disused jail and he died when he was only 15 years old because he was beaten to death by another prisoner. But seriously just remember that you're not the only one to lose a family member in fact there's probably thousands around the world that are going through the same situation as you. :)

What are your guys ideas for lent?

I'm trying to ease myself into the traditional fasting and dietary abstinence that the Orthodox do during Lent. It's unlike anything I've ever tried before (basically going vegan for a little while!) but I want to do more than just give up something small like I used to do as an Evangelical. Other than that, I'm just going to use this time to explore the Orthodox faith some more and attend my parish some more :)

Also I might try attending Mass a few times at a Catholic church near where I am. I suppose as I've looked into Orthodoxy more and more, I've also been gaining a lot of respect for Roman Catholicism so why not, I'll see where God wants me to go.

Ah crap, I totally forgot. I'd like to say "no fast food" but that seems kind of low hanging fruit.

I have a very deep one. But it's kinda not appropriate to post on the thread

I'm flattered. Obviously I'm not the Church as a whole, but just as a member, I am. :)

Fair enough. Remind me though, Lent obligation can be to DO something, as well as abstain from something correct?

There is really nothing I can say that I feel represents how sorry I am to read this. I immediately thought of my own brother and I can't imagine what it's been like for you and your family. You and your brother will be in my prayers tonight.

Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

Please being praying for India. Tonight India has bond fires all over the county. These fires are huge and the priests of the Hindu temples are putting sin grain sacrifices into the fires, scrifices to the gods.

Tomarrow they throw powder toxic color and water at each other. Playfully harmless till later on this day every one takes drinking free lee and social inaproret boundaries are broken.

Holi has some good to it but people use it for the wrong reasons. Here is a link to know more about the holiday.

Pray for the people of India. Pray that God shows them that there is only ONE WAY. And for the safety of the people.

@@maris99,

I'm quite certain that if their sacred holiday was dangerous, they wouldn't still be doing it after thousands of years or would at least have alternate ways to celebrate it by now that aren't hazardous.

In a member of the United Pentecostal Church! Been raised in it and don't plan to turn away. I'm so glad I found this thread! Anyways, any other Pentecostals out there? Even if you're not, I'd love to meet you :) but I love Jesus with all my heart. If you would like to know any more about what I believe don't be afraid to message me!

Hey guys, have any of you ever done an "emmaus walk"?

Hmmm... Not by this name, but I have already done similar stuff. I have done something called "Prayer and Life Workshops". It lasts for 15 weeks, in which the last one is a retreat somewhat similar with the one you mentioned. "Desert" is the term they use, as a reference to the passages of the Bible in which Jesus, Moses, Abraham and others passed in a desert. But I believe that the appropriate term in English is "Summit". It is similar to a retreat, but shorter. It lasts for half day.

I have some pictures from my last time: :)

Hello everypony! I'm a big pony fan and a big lover of Christ! I would like to know, though, does anyone here attend New Life Church in Colorado Springs? If so, I'd love to know! I'm in town for a couple of weeks and would love to get to know some new people!

Let us all pray for Stephen Hillenburg, former marine biologist and the creator of Spongebob Squarepants. He has been diagnosed with ALS, an incurable disease. :(

May God be with him, always.

Oh, by the way, happy John 3:16 day!

Funny coincidence, my parents used to go to that church before I was born, but ultimately switched to one closer to Denver so they wouldn't have to drive so far every Sunday. As far as I can remember, I've never been there myself but it's always nice to encounter fellow fans in Colorado. :D Edited by Prospekt

I may not be a Christian, I may not believe in God. But that's not important right now. After reading this post all I can say is that I am so, so sorry for your loss, and, if it makes you feel any better ( although it probably doesn't ), just know that I feel bad for you, and truly wish you all the piece that I can.

Hey guys, please say a prayer for me.

I'm in a pretty dark place lately. I can't seem to see a light at the end of the tunnel. I feel anxious and scared and insecure all the time. I try to tell myself that, in the big picture, things will be okay. God promises that to believers. But it doesn't help ease my mind any, because while I might be fine ultimately, the world just seems to get more and more evil and dark.

I just want to be happy and at ease again.

I am really sorry sorry to hear, I will be praying for you. It is not wrong to be happy, that is what we were made to. Even Jesus at the Calvary asked “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.” (Luke 22:42)

Anyways, it is important to understand that sometimes certain things need to happen in order to prevent a greater evil, and the reason isn't always apparent. I am going to explain with an analogy.

Imagine that you have a dog, and this dog is diagnosed with a brain tumor. The only way to save his life is with a surgery to remove the tumor. But what a brain tumor is, let alone a surgery, are beyond what a dog is capable of understanding, so you can't exactly explain him the situation. Yet you need to take care of him, and for that you submit the dog to a surgery. From the viewpoint of the dog, one day he was playing, and in the next he woke up weak and in pain. He is just unable to understand why that happened, but yet it was necessary so something worse didn't happen.

In a similar way, we cannot see the world in the same way that God does. God knows everything: past, present and future; all possibilities. Maybe what you are going through now has no apparent purpose, however in some time from now you might see that it actually helped you to get stronger in order to face situations yet to come. At any rate, when something is put on the hands of God, nothing is without a purpose. "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose." (Romans 8:28)

Take care :)

Well guys right now I'm only one hour away from leaving home to go to Sydney Australia for a five day long school camp. I'm super excited for it and I hope everything goes to plan even though it's going to rain every single day while we're there according to the weather report. :)
