After all of this info was released, I can safely say I am incredibly excited for season 4 and have no worries. I had only one major worry, that being the writers backing out on Twilicorn, but that obviously is not happening as seen with the animatics.

 

Beyond that, everything else also looks fantastic! 26 episodes, a really catchy Apple family song, POWER PONIES, A Nightmare Moon origin thing (this was the only other slight worry after I seen the footage, I did not want Luna to be a villain again, but luckily they are doing this with a completely different approach), Scootafly episode (explanations and development! Awesome), there is just so much to look forward to already and at is just from FOUR episodes.

 

Luckily, the wait will not be that long, the worst of the wait is over with in my opinion.

To me, the worst part of the wait is up until they announce a release date. I'm just happy to see that it isn't too terribly far away (like 2014 or something). Here's hoping for a really great season.

Season four could be similar to Avatar: The Legend of Aang, were Aang is a "God" yet travels with his friends etc.

Princess Twilight, along with the rest of the mane six could travel throughout the whole of Equestria teaching other ponies and characters the magic of friendship (that may be what Celestia meant by everyone is her student now). What better way to demonstrate that by having a Princess travel the lands with her five non-royalty friends. Definitely a true Princess of Friendship.

I am probably quite late with noticing this and I bet somepony else has already said it, but did you guys notice that in the video, Apple Bloom says "Ms. Harshwhinny never said anything about that"

 

Does this mean that we will get to see an episode of the games? =o

2014 is to long to wait for this season

Well it is close to 2014: november

and that takes some time to mate its only 2 months earlier maybe they could use those 2 months to make more episodes? ^^

Yes, I do think there'll be an Equestria Games episode, since there will have been so many references to it. I imagine it'll be something about sportsmanship and visitors from all over Equestria (and from different backgrounds) getting along during an Olympics-type event.

 

My "ideal" Equestria Games episode: a team of ponies - say, maybe, from Baltimare - starts outperforming all of the other Equestria teams during the games, but shows terrible sportsmanship. This rubs off on the other teams, who also start fighting and being poor sports to everyone else, until all the teams hate each other. It turns into a big mess, and nopony can really explain what's going on, because the Baltimare competitors were previously known to be full of good sportsmanship.

 

At some point, the head representative for the Baltimare team sends out a signal, and BAM! the entire team reveals themselves to be Changelings (the real Baltimare team is captive someplace) the head rep is Chrysalis, and they proceed to try and tear the Crystal Empire to shreds.   Shining Armor and Cadence's love aren't strong enough to repel them this time, but the Mane 6 gather all of the teams together and encourage them to embrace a common goal of getting rid of the new invasion.

That sounds like an idealistic episode. Though I beg for an episode where not all Changelings are evil. Maybe have a Changeling have a change of heart or something of the like.

 

I think the Equestrian Games will be an whole new arc. Similar to The Grand Galloping Gala arc which had several episodes that lead up to it. And to be honest I really love episodes like this. It would show how well the writers are good at making continuity.

 

We already know Scootaloo must've planned on entering it as seen from the preview so I hope the MLP staff use the power of suspense to buildup the Equestrian Games until the season four finale.

However ideal that may seem, it is amazingly random and comes completely out of left field. You lost me at the point where you mentioned Chrysalis returning and having impersonated the pony team. A much more likely end to that scenario is that the ponies were just obsessed with winning, and realizing the fault of their ways, help out the other teams to recover from the fighting and wind up sharing their trophy with the rest.

 

Honestly, it seems like a fan-made episode concept to me. I would be disappointed to see such a thing come to fruition on the show itself.

If there is an Equestria Games episode, I hope it will be about how the games are being held in the city of Coltchi, but there is a lot of gay bashing in Coltchi and they just passed a law making it illegal to even talk about homosexuality. So all the other cities in Equestria have to come together to boycott the games and show Coltchi that they're going to be left behind by history if they don't change their ways.

My greatest hope is that Twilight can live up to being a princess.

 

I also share the common interest in wanting to know more about her actual past, and perhaps a more in-depth explanation of what purpose the Mane Six actually is in the world of Ponydom.

Yeah, I want that too. Because they should be treated like national heroes, seeing as they saved them all 3 times, but everyone treats them like regular citizens. If we could get a nice little perspective, then I'd be fine. Personally, I'd be okay with the explanation that Equestria gets doomed and then saved so many times that the hero in question is usually just a random person each time and so no one really cares.

I personally would like to have more world building / history episodes.

 

With the season 2 finale and season 3 overall, the history has had a few holes puched through it.

 

Like, how about more background into Cadence and Shining Armor?  They've gotten married, taken over an empire, and gotten the opportunity to host the Equestria Games, and they've only been in 6 episodes! 

 

Nightmare Moon's backstory is gonna be a boost, but all of these new elements need some development as well.

The wait for Season 3 was actually longer than it is for Season 4 but even despite the fact that we have Equestria Girls to keep us entertained for the time being (it's just a 70 something minute episode) it still feels like waiting an eternity.

 

On the bright side it's going to be a full-size season and not just 13 episodes as in Season 3 and I guess it's worth the wait because of all the songs they make. Also, I DEMAND more Derpy screentime.

I was just musing over what will happen if the US does decide to boycott the Olympics this year. There was an interesting cartoon movie done back in 1980 called Animalympics, which had been made for that year's Games, but which did pretty badly because the US boycotted them that year. I hope such an event doesn't detract from the show this season.

I was just joking in my post above, but upon reflection, I think it would be really cool if MLP made an episode like that. Obviously since it's a kids show we wouldn't want to use the dark and very serious theme of gay bashing, but perhaps the city hosting the Equestria games could display prejudices against a certain kind of pony, and they would have to learn to be accepting of all kinds. It would be really cool (even if it wasn't the most subtle of allegories) if the writers decided to make the hosting city prejudiced against rainbow ponies, then Dashie could be a central figure in the story.

 

I'm certain they won't make an episode like that, but it might make a good fanfic.

There should be a Q&A somewhere in the page dedicated to the 4° season. And yeah, i hope that Meghan will not ignore that Faust wanted only 2 or at least 3 alicorn in the series, just how she made it in the Canterlot Wedding.

It's more than likely a joke unless someone has a dream sequence where everyone are Alicorns. Anyway I'm sure that wouldn't happen for real.

 

I'm curious though, Ever since Faust left the writing staff have slightly veered from her beliefs on what the show has represented.

Okay so there's many things I am looking forward to in season 4! After seeing the preview from ComicCon, I am more intrigued than ever to see the upcoming season, despite the horrendous wait.

 

I'm looking forward to see the "Power Ponies!"

 

I found that to be quite hilarious, and all the mane 6 ponies look so adorable in their epic costumes. What really perplexes me though and something that I immediately noticed was off, was that it didn't seem like they weren't in Equestria...at all. lol. In the preview of the showcasing of "Pony Powers", they appeared to be on top of what appeared to be a skyscraper with a modern day architectural design, surrounded by other similar buildings.

 

Since when did skyscrapers exist? 

 

It seems like the "Power Powers" and their setting is all based off of the typical "Power Puff Girls" setting.

 

I don't mind, in fact I find that to be a hilarious parody!

 

But still I wonder what's the reason for them to be somewhere so modern, metropolis-like, and so unlike Equestria? I'm going to assume it's either a strange dream Spike is having, or possibly a new city and destination in Equestia that is really advanced in urban development and resembles modern day New York City.

 

Perhaps I'm overlooking it. Oh well, I'm just really looking forward to see it all either way.

 

And Luna becoming nightmare moon once again!!?? OH MI GASH!

 

That just really surprised me. I never expected that to happen again! 

 

But then again, it makes sense. It could either be a nightmare Twilight is having due to all her stress of being the Princess, or it could actually be happening because Luna got and jealous and felt threatened by the thought of Twilight potentially becoming a better and more awesome rule than her!
