Um, didn't find a topic 'bout this even though it was the most viewed movie of 2012.

Basically, yeah, we talk about the movie. What was your favorite line, favorite character, yadda yadda...

Meh, I'll add something here later.

I saw it for the second time on Friday. My favorites are Hulk and Hawkeye :D

I'm not really obsessed though, and I could never join the fandom/am not interested in it (Mostly because I don't read comic books, but also because I don't like the fandom)

To start out this thread, I would like to point out the elephant in the room in regards to this particular film. Where was Antman?

MY QUESTION EXACTLY.

Time to wait until 2015. Then he can have a movie...

...Maybe. Poor Hank. :C

Coincidentally, that was my only problem with the movie (The lack of Wasp and Antman). Was a good movie.

Wow, that was a good movie... Mind you, I haven't seen it since... When did it come out? May? Yeah, then. Anyway, I saw it at the midnight release, and I was dressed as Nick Fury. I wish I could have enjoyed the final action sequence more, but I had to desperately go to the bathroom.

I'm glad someone gets it.

Anyway....

Favorite line in the movie: "Puny god." - Hulk

Favorite character: Hulk (though my favorite Avenger in the comics is Captain America)

Favorite moment: When Captain America uses his shield to block Thor's hammer. Not even a god is a match for the power of 'MURICA!

Oh, just going to add, Hawkeye may be my third-ish favorite character in the Marvel Universe (Second that's still alive.), but Tony's my favorite in the movies. Robert Downey Junior is

I saw the Avengers.

Pretty decent movie with Marvel superheroes. Robert Downey Jr. always did a excellent job as Iron Man, Hulk was tearing everything up, pretty much owned Loki. Thor well as a god, did exceptional.

Seeing Hawkeye was the biggest surprise to me.

The only thing the movie was missing was, Wasp and Antman.

Now we wait.. for Iron Man 3.

One of my favorite movies. I went to see it with a few friends the day it opened. The place was absolutely packed. It was the most enthusiastic audience I've ever seen for a film.

I've probably watched the movie seven or eight times. I'd never claim it was the qualitatively best movie I've ever seen, but it does everything it set out to do very well. I'd say it's a testament to Joss Whedon and his abilities as a writer and director. It's easy to neglect how The Avengers could have bombed badly due to the volume of large personalities.

Oh yes, and Steve Rogers is best pony Avenger.

I regret to say I haven't seen it yet. I have heard that it is a fantastic movie, and it is on my list of movies I want to see. I just...haven't gotten around to seeing it yet.

Really? Understandable... I spent the longest time trying to watch RIO, and It around a half a year later when my dad finally got the movie. I fell in love with it completely. Most people like Stark, but who can argue? He livens up the show! XD

Yeah... the fandom's funny, but there's always that shipping with Stark/Rogers that I'm less than fond of... and there seems to be a lot of self-insertion when it comes to fan-girls... (not me, of course. I don't support anything unless It's cannon) Understandable also.

I thought it was a pretty darn good movie, I watched it a long time after it came out since I didn't have anyone who could take me to go see it ever, so I just ended up watching it with my family.

Still it was pretty good, I liked it alot. I think my favorite characters probably Iron man, I don't know why just hes cool :D. Idk.

But having Hulk smash things was quiet entertaining to.

Good movie though, one of the betters one I've seen.

It was mediocre at best. It's just a lot of mixed scenario and CGI effects meshed together. The story was a bit... meh. I guess it was based on some specific comic book so they were just trying to keep it as canon as possible, just a bunch of stories mixed together. It was like they shot multiple different scenes and just threw in the ones that looked best.

I think the biggest downer is having only one villain. When you got like 5 really powerful characters taking on just one powerful villain it just looks boring.

Hopefully Thanos would be more of a challenge

I see what you mean, however, it is kind of a challenge to put 5 stories all in one giant sequel. And with them trying very hard to keep everything cannon, you gotta keep in mind that they did add a lot to like about it, even though the story-line may have seemed rushed. I kind of felt the same with the Season 3 finale, how the escalated everything quite quickly, not really getting into enough details about the main 6's troubles with their mixed up cutie marks, but as I did a little more research and observation, I came to accept it, and learn that they did the best that they could do. C: Besides, with the new sequel of the Avengers coming up, and with the announcement of other parts corresponding with the finale in Season 4, I'm pretty sure all this emptiness and rushed feeling will go away.

By far one of the best movies I have ever seen, defiantly going to watch again when I have the time tongue.png The Hulk I would say is the best character.  I also thought that the flying aircraft carrier was pretty funny/awesome.

too bad we have to wait a whole year for Avengers Age of Ultron. I really want a spec ops tie-in for avengers Alliance. I don't know who is going to be the reward hero, since all heroes introduced so far are already playable in the game, namely Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, and Vision, but I'll get movie based costumes which are going to make them monsters in the game (specially for Vision, he's quite a mediocre character)

I really loved the avengers movie and of course theres a lot of Loki fan girls out there screaming their lungs out lol. But yeah i am loki fan too. But i love Tony Stark is actually my favorite out of everyone in the avengers. It was sad what happeend to Phil Coulsons character i liked him he was just funny as hell but you know at least he had a good run. I wont say what happened to spoil anything for those who may not have seen it. But i cannot wait to see the second one. Oh why must they make us wait so long for the second avengers!!  Ahhh!!! :D lol

This movie is the prime example of what makes me both love and hate Joss Whedon. He's so frustrating sometimes. Phil Coulson was basically the Wash of the Avengers universe. Lovable, funny, a little more 'real guy' than the heroes...more relatable to us average people. So Joss Whedon, who apparently can only be nourished by hundred-dollar bills soaked in our tears of misery, took a look at Firefly and the Avengers and said "hmmm...we've got a character here that everyone likes. Lots of quotable lines, good comedic timing, down-to-Earth and eminently likable...what to do, what to do...oh, I know, let's IMPALE THEM THROUGH THE CHEST RIGHT THE FUCK OUT OF NOWHERE!"

Actually, Whedon claims he did not propose killing Coulson; instead, the powers that be (i.e., producer Kevin Feige) pushed for Coulson's death. I admittedly don't exactly remember the reasoning for it.

I rather liked Coulson dying, to be honest. He's a wonderful character and everyman -- exactly the reason why his death by Loki's hand (or scepter) is so meaningful. In the context of the MCU, it was really the only way all those personalities could come together as a team. As Fury said, they needed the push.

No, I completely understand, I'm just saying that he could have made it a little more different than Wash's death...he's really got a thing for impalement.

When I saw Serenity in theaters, I knew Wash was going to die (the online rumors were that he and Book were both marked for death and when Book died I knew Wash would too). But the way it happened was so abrupt and unexpected I actually yelled, and so did a few other people in the theater.

why still so sad about Coulson? he's the main character of Marvel's Agent of SHIELD, he's been revived for unknown reasons. speaking of Avengers, well get Magneto's twins and Vision introduced in the sequel
