On topic, now. Basically you just axed a bunch of things that I never used or pay any attention to anyway. Honestly, I like the character limit, I don't really like Minecraft or TF2 anymore (and never really used either server to begin with), I don't care about Equestria Girls but I do like not having it flooding the rest of Show Discussion, never really used the bulletin (who actually did though? It just clogged the board), and that Skype chat was doomed. With so many members, it's bound to go sour.

 

I'm pretty neutral to this update because none of it really affects me, but I do appreciate the work you guys are putting in to make this a better place. Except Discord. He can go screw himself. _{^{That's a joke.}}

I'm honestly surprised Pony Bulletin lasted as long as it did. I tried to stir up a little discussion by posting there, but more often than not my post was the only one in that thread. It was very lonely there.

Nope. If you fall below a certain average, you'll just get the old fashioned forced minimum turned back on for a while on your account.

 

More information will be released prior to implementation, at any rate - this is something that we want to do right.

Well, most of these changes for me are reasonable.

 

I never really found a huge problem with the character limit though :/ Rarely did I come against a situation where only a 1-5 word response was NEEDED. Besides, extra details are important

 

I joined the Skype chat room like a week after I joined and lost interest as soon as I joined it. Don't mind at all that it's gone now. I just talk to some friends on Skype about random things :3

 

Anyway, I'm still waiting to see the whole wrap up thread for the charity drive, you busy fillies

The new character minimum development certainly seems interesting.  I'm someone who admittedly can be fairly laconic at times, and there were a few instances where the "punch" of what I was trying to say may have been watered down by adding a few words.  So this is certainly a development worth paying close attention to.  The only flaw I could see in this is that one person could write one giant wall of text followed by a bunch of really brief posts...

 

The rest I really don't have interest in, though I would have joined the Skype group had I not forgotten about it 85% of the time.

Adding a new subforum for Twilicorn and EqGirls on the front page is something I dislike, I think they should be located as subforums in Show Discussion instead because they take up place.

 

Now with the removal of the minecraft and tf2 servers I don't care at all. Minecraft was dead to me long ago. I mean it became popular here in Sweden looong before it became popular worldwide. I mean I've been playing it since 2009 so, meh.

 

Are the Community Stewards for these servers going to get... you know...

I've actually been a huge fan of the character limit, but I am interested in experiencing the new junk post prevention mechanism that will replace the character limit. I can't offer my opinion on whether or not it will work based on the description I have read of it, so I will keep an open mind and see what will be seen once it is released.

 

I definitely agree with the decision to give Equestria Girls its own subforum.

 

The rest of the announcements don't personally affect me, so I am not strongly for or against any of them. But, I can definitely understand and agree with why the skype chat may have been removed, and why mailmare was let go.

That's really unfortunate that they are getting rid of the Minecraft server. I was really looking forward to playing on it again with a friend when they finally got it updated to the most recent version again. =/ I think that was one of the downfalls of the server, playing on it for a month and then having to wait a month for the server to update only to repeat the cycle again and again. Also the 40 post requirement too was kind of a bit too much. All of the good memories on it will be missed.

You're pretty much spot on in both regards - the turn around time for updates, and the restrictions on joining were both major factors that worked against the server. That said, it's not impossible that it could return sometime in the future when we're better equipped to handle such things... but for now, we simply don't have the expertise or manpower to continue operating it in any reasonable fashion.
