Did anyone else catch this?

When watching SSCS6000, I thought it was odd that Rainbow went out of her way to wake up Fluttershy, and bring her to the cider line.

Then later I saw Putting Your Hoof Down, particularly how Fluttershy has trouble in line-ups and gets bullied out of her place constantly. Now think about how she'd do in the cider line without her friends.

It may just be coincidence, but I found it very sweet that Rainbow would go out of her way and risk something as important to her as an early place in the line just to bring Fluttershy and make sure she gets some cider as well. wub.png Particularly so since at first it seems that Rainbow's bullying Fluttershy.

I don't think Rainbow Dash bullied Fluttershy. In the episode Cutie Mark Chronicles, when Fluttershy is being bullied by the other ponies, Rainbow Dash comes and stands up for her.

Actually you would think they would just have a mane six keg party after the rest of the cider was given out back at Applejack's barn to celebrate the end of a hard day's work.

It's cool how fluttershy and rainbow seem to get on a really good friends and look out for each other (IE dragon quest).

I think it shows just how loyal rainbow is to her friends :D!

I like how after that contest that producing barrels upon barrels of cider, they still didn't have enough and Dash wouldn't have gotten any if Pinkie didn't share.

Either the Apples are so bad at business that their stock evaporated into thin air or the town has a cider problem, because this is just ridiculous.

I think Dash and Fluttershy have a bond just from being Pegasi. I expect there aren't very many of thier kind on the ground in Ponyville, so they have to stick together.

I lean towards the town having a cider problem -- did you see that line?  Sheesh, AJ should just make apple cider all year and the ponies can eat carrots and drink their apples.

I hope no one minds, but in my head canon I like to imagine that they were friends for a long time, before FIM began.  Like they were friends as foals or something (they appear in each others flashbacks, so it could happen).

What do you get if you take the adventurous element, and good vs. evil storylines of Generation 1, reintroduce some abandoned storylines, that only happened with the toys, add the lessons of life elements from My Little Pony Tales, and the adorableness, and fantasy element from Generation 3, use the type of personalities of ponies used in all generations, and put them together using a true fan's perspective?

Maybe it's because they're both Pegasi, but that probably isn't it. It might just be coincidental, or maybe Dash was just feeling kind. I don't know.

I thought that was a great characteristic moment for Rainbow Dash, too! It shows she really cares about Fluttershy.

I'm not too sure what to think of Rainbow Dash wanting to leave Fluttershy behind in Dragonshy, though. I like to think that she's grown as a character since then, and waking Fluttershy was proof of that.

I agree, but on the other hand, I wouldn't go to any great lengths to say that Rainbow Dash is that sweet. It was pretty clear that she was more interested in getting herself some cider by her comments. :P

Dashie laaaavs Flutters.

She feels she needs to help out Fluttershy in life due to her timidness and shyness. That speaks to her Loyalty.

At least that's what I believe. 'Nother reason why Dashie is awesome.

Rainbow Dash runs hot and cold when it comes to Fluttershy. She can be super kind one moment and suddenly switch to super bitchy like in Dragonshy. It be fun to see more backstory on them.

Good catch. Admittedly, I didn't pay too much attention to this interaction earlier, but we have yet another example of how much Rainbow Dash cares for Fluttershy. I'm not too surprised that they seem to be closer to each other than to the rest of the Mane 6, since they're not only both pegasi, but also grew up together.

Moments like this make me annoyed whenever people call Rainbow Dash a jerk, because she clearly isn't.

Dash Academy is *sort of* my headcanon, so RD might have bullied Fluttershy in the past, and her standing up for Fluttershy was a way to repay her after she felt remorse.

Dash Academy is this comic about Dash's life as a teenager, if you wish to know.

I consider Rainbow to be someone who does care for her friends, but doesn't like to show much emotion that she thinks will make her seem sappy.

She does show it sometimes, but if you notice she trys to keep it at a minimum.

yeh she's not a very emotional pony. she's afraid it'll make her look soft to everypony else. so she tries to conceal her feelings to preserve her image

Rainbow Dash wouldn't try to bully Fluttershy. Dash is trying to look out for her, and try to keep up her image. They both are really good friends, maybe Dash is trying to toughen her up.

I didn't mean she WAS bullying her, but she was being very rough when Fluttershy clearly didn't want to get out of bed. If we didn't know how close those two were, and that that's just how Rainbow shows affection, it could be misinterpreted as nastiness.
