I think he just some generic dude Twilight runs into. I wouldn't be surprised if they make him Twilight's love interest the way they portray him in the movie. Then again the trailer was pretty vague: he could be the antagonist for all we know.

Difficult to say really. He's got huge blue eyebrows though, I wouldn't trust those if I were Twilight. 

 

What I do find interesting is that they used Spitfires mane, only recoloured.

Not to mention the mark on his shirt is reminiscent to most high-speed pegasus cutie marks. (Lightning bolt seems to be a favorite among the wonderbolts.) I wouldn't be surprised if his pony form is a pegasus by that logic.

He's most likely to be just a generic high school dreamy boy, which will be Twilight's love interest. Though I don't think they'll take it so far as for them to kiss, but whatever.

I have a sneaking suspicion that this guy is actually not her love interest, maybe Twilight will be his but that doesn't mean he'll 'get the girl' so to speak.

 

As for who he is, I think it's not Shining Armor, the mark on this t shirt is wrong and that would be... Well weird. It might be a Wonderbolt we've not met yet.

Yes I know what the writer of the show said, but she was also kidding about it.  You should read her tweet more carefully.  I also stated that his colors don't exactly match that of Soarin's but his hairdo does, and the fact that what I think is his mark on that shirt is much more or less what most Wonderbolts have on their flanks in the original show, so he may be a part of the equivalent of the Wonderbolts.  I'll say this much however, if there are glimpses of him eating pie obsessionally in a new trailer, then our answer is clear.

Let's face it party people, the fact that this guy is in the trailer probably means he's more important than a Wonderbolt.(don't mean to sound like I'm dissing the Wonderbolts) I could believe maaaaybe that it would be shinning armor but I kinda doubt that too. The discord thing would blow my mind though lol. I see no guarantee that this guy is a love interest but my suspicions lead to this guy being a new character entirely new character like the antagonist. (Sunset Shimmer) I will admit though that I appreciate Hasbro's use of suspense and curiosity.

Who knows MAAAYBE the boy is intended to make acknowledgement of bronies by representing us and MAAAYBE they need him to help save both dimensions. (like this or not I'm mentioning it xD)

The possibilities are endless, but nevertheless, making him a love interest would not ruin a single thing for me. If it does happen to be the other options, I will be a little surprised to tell you the truth.

He's some weird cross of Shining Armour and Soarin'. The logo on his shirt, if you look, combines the the shield of Shining's cutie mark and the lightning bolt of Soarin's.

So...half incest?
