Comparing real ponies to the ones from show is quite silly, because there are obvious and big differences between them. I don't clop myself, but calm down a bit, I don't see what's big deal about what people are doing behind closed door. People do "this" to much worse things than ponies (besides in clop pictures they are most times even more similiar to human with some "certain areas" of body exposed... ).

That's going under the assumption that such fantasies about the FiM ponies is directly translatable to real-life ponies or other equines. An assumption that's falsifiable, in fact. It's possible to experimentally prove this assumption to be false by gathering a group of cloppers and gauging their emotional response when they are shown clop and real-life equines separately. You can take it a step further by asking them why they experienced the images differently.

 

That leaves me with one question for you; are you willing to set all prejudices aside and find what is objective or will you prefer willful ignorance just so you and possibly your circle of friends can have the luxury of having a common enemy to heckle and joke about for the sake of boosting your ego(s)? That's for you to answer, not me.

Heeere's my honest opinion on clopping: I don't care. I really don't care. Sexual attraction is one of the weirdest things and there really isn't such a thing as a normal attraction because you break it all down it gets to be extremely god damned complex and strange.

 

The only thing i ask of those who do this is please keep it away from public places. Like you wouldn't hear a "normal" person just openly talk about their masturbation habits and not expect a backlash of somesort. Personally I think it's some funny shit someone does that but most people are gonna be all like bleechh. Infact, in high school there was this one kid who would openly talk about how he would masturbate to the porn star Milla Monroe and we all thought he was pretty damned gross. Sick? What is "sick"? Is my sick your sick? I have to assumne that it isn't based on the fact that we disagree on this topic here. I find nothing wrong with clopping. So it's an animated horse, no diffent then anything else in fiction, animation or what have you. Anime characters, pokemon, robots, plants, furries. All kinds of stuff really. Sure bronies get viewed as being perverts, but isn't everyone a pervert.

 

Now I see you say that you should try it with real ponies. That is interesting, well depends on the view you have I guess. If this view is comparing horses to colorful animated ponies, I don't see the point. They only share small traits with real horses, tails, four legged walking and general body shape. Now about the going to jail bit, I'd say that would be the least thing to really worry about with a real horse. The first thing that pops into my head are thier back legs. They can kick pretty hard. That's just me though. Though I don't see how anything is really wrong. That's the problem though, people are so obessed with what other people do in closed doors. If they don't do anything to hurt you or anyone else then it's all good yo.

 

What is wrong though, there isn't any real set law as to what is right or wrong. Things are only right or wrong based on what society says, and that can't really count cause that always changes. In the past slaves were okay, but for the most part society says otherwise now. But that is a big global topic and clopping to a cartoon isn't even a real problem. I've always enjoyed the deal people make of it though. It is such a mundane thing to be upset about. Something to be really upset about is the fact that there are no aliens on this planet I can be freinds with. That is a topic to get angry about. I think I've rambled.

I'll just try and answer that question. Emphasis on try.

Perhaps it all starts with a bond. All the characters have something about them that may or may not click with people and the occurrence of people from the audience caring about characters they know are fictional is nothing new (namely when I cried my eyes out when a certain character died in the Beast Wars series). All I can say from here is that it just grows from there. And I'm willing to bet you that if the ponies in the show acted like real ponies, I highly doubt there'd be as many cloppers (there'd hardly be a fanbase either).

 

So yeah, I say it definitely has something to do with the characters' characters with them feeling very human to us despite their different shape.
