Oh no, I hope this blows over. I love this fandom. I like reading fan fiction and some clopfics. It's Xenophilia to like a sapient being!

These parents are annoying. This is the Internet nothing is safe.

And yes, I'm one of the minority and no I'm not a Nazi Brony, nor am I pedophile.

  • 2 weeks later...

somehow, we're simultaneously a rape, pedophile, bestiality and LGBT crowd.

Well, I guess, if all the other bronies are doing it...

In all seriousness, this is stupid. People will find something wrong with everything. Rainbow Dash is adventurous? GAYYYYY. Derpy Hooves has a lisp? MAKING FUN OF RETARDED PEOPLE. People like a show about ponies? CHILD MOLESTERS!!!

So, they won't let their daughters watch it because guys watch it? Might as well take every cartoon off the air because grown men still watch that stuff too. Really though, that is a really ridiculous reason for not letting your child experience a great show. Why can't there be a petition to dispose of stupid people? It would make the world a better place. >_>

One: Its a great show!

The petition was started over a year ago by "John Smith", and it seems to have only recently been noticed by our little forum community.  During its run it collected 66 signatures (some from people with names like "Prissy McBitch").

C'mon guys; its entire purpose was clearly just to rustle your jimmies.  I'd say they've succeeded (to the tune of 8 pages and counting).

Parents are way too concerned for their kids nowadays, yet I find it funny, that if this was an actual parent petitioning it (it really seems to be a troll doing this to get attention), that it's probably your typical middle class mom that does nothing but spend all day on Facebook and hears one bad thing happen in the news.

To top it all off, it's funny we live in a generation where teenage boys get persecuted for liking MLP, yet allow 10 year olds to play Call of Duty and continue to have toddler pageants.

I would like to see them try and tell me what I can and can't write. That's one of the ten amendments on the bloody bill of rights. As for what the parents think, well they are wrong. So what if we're a group of young men and women who like a show that was intended for little girls. We have as much of a right to watch this show as anypony else.

And this is different from the Star Wars phenomenon how?  Star Wars was a series of films aimed at children.  Every single film after the first one was made with the intent of selling toys.  Adults took a liking to it, created numerous adult-oriented parodies, and...

This is stupid.  We've gone through this before, boys and girls.  Nothing is going to happen, so stop whining that adults are having fun with something made for kids.

This is exactly why I hate stupid people, they never source their information they hear maybe 3 stories about something and then hear one bad thing and base their oppinions on that, no doubt they are american either, because I live in a country full of stupid rednecks

*cough* your banner says it all *cough* see, this is why parents do it .I know it's all like Love and tolerance but I can't stand cloppers and banners like that you guys they were NOT animated for that jeez

I'm saddened by this. People take the worse of the fandom and then assume the whole fandom is like that...

We aren't all cloppers who post sadistic NSFW fan fiction and spend their time playing video games and living in our parents's basement. Some of us happen to have lives, and don't want to be looked at like this. I'm almost ashamed to call myself a pegasister in other communites...

And what's wrong with any of that?  The way I see it, the problem isn't that there are bronies who do weird stuff.  The problem is that we care that they're doing weird stuff.  If it makes them happy, then they're free to do whatever.

I'm not trying to say it's wrong. It's fine by me if you want to go jack off to ponies...

What angers me is that all bronies are assumed to be that way, even though most of us aren't.

Ah.  That's different.  Personally, I think it's pretty funny how often people confuse "brony" and "furry".  It signifies ignorance on their part, at least as far as weird, internet-based subcultures are concerned.

My banner is not sexual you twit , That's a projection of you're own mind making the idea and assumption, that it is. thus you are one of the people that you are so blindly pointing out.

Can you really blame them for being so disgusted by us? Grown, obese sweaty men in pony shirts are common sights over the web and as a community, we're responsible for almost as much gore and porn fics than Sanic fans. Hell, I'm disgusted by us. Cupcakes, Banned from Equestria(daily), Hoofbeat, Rainbow Factory. These are things that are incredibly easy to find on Youtube, and a parent can't be expected to have their child under their thumb all day.

I care more about the actual show than I do the fandom to be totally honest. My life doesn't revolve around you people, I could survive without the over abundance of fan stuff here and there. That being said, if they ever do tell Hasbro to remove all of our work I will be very upset. And it should be common knowledge that just because one brony is a deviant doesn't mean that the rest of us are horrible people.

So yeah, it goes both ways: They're overreacting, but we've given them reason too.

I only have one true response to this:

For Christ sake, this is a show meant for little girls, why can't they watch it?

If the girls can't get on forums, or something relating to the brony culture, how are they in risk?

It's just an innocent TV show with talking ponies.

It's not like a brony popping out of the TV screen, and talking to the little girl.

Seriously?

It might just be trolls, like that fake Christian site that did an "article" on us a while back, but if it is actual parents, that's just sad. Sure, there are dark parts of the fandom, but you shouldn't tell your kids not to watch the show because of it.

Guys, it's been going on for a year and has 66 signatures.  That's about as many as the anti-Derpy petition got in one week back in early 2012.

Considering that there are millions of Bronies and traditional fans, there's no need to worry.

On the petition itself: Cupcakes HD and SHED.MOV I can understand them finding on Youtube.  But how exactly did they find the clop tumblrs?  Did they Google search "Clop art"?

If you do a Google search for some type of porn and find it, you cannot be accuse the creators of shoving it "in your face".

  • 1 month later...

It is a horrible video of Pinkie Pie torturing and mutilating Rainbow Dash. Trust me, I thought before I watched it "It can't be that bad". I was proven wrong by the nightmares that I had that night. It was TERRIBLE. DO NOT WATCH IT unless you are some sort of creepy sadist brony. It is top level horror film material.

My number one regret in life is not having seen this before I watched the video.

I haven't been able to sleep as well since then.

I'm afraid i must disagree, "we" haven't given them any reason too.

A few misguided, or disturbed individuals have.

This exists in ANY fandom however, NOT just the MLP Brony one.

Even with something like spongebob you can find all sorts of gore and porn. I've even seen an insane vid of Dora the Explorer tearing her various friends apart. One such set of imagery was in another show, MAD TV, in fact.

The only thing "we" have over that, is we're a larger group, and as such will have far more to show for it. Including but not limited too oddball members pumping out content they enjoy making.

Its their thing, let'em. There are TONS of types of parenting software for people to use and keep such content away from their kids.

But also, IMO, tis also an idea to MONITOR your childs computer use. One small example, My little nephew (4 now) is a whiz with figuring out tech. Should see'em on an iPad, he's quick to figure things out.  But, he's never not being monitored on this.

If parents are truly this afraid of us, than they need to begin fearing ALL aspects of EVERY show, and the internet.

As well as life.

Okay then, lets shut down pokemon because it has fan art and "hentai".

They are both kid shows, so I don't know why they are complaining about this.

Ya know i forgot about that one. It too has a TON of gore and porn made for it. Easy to find by mistake, and ALL over the place.

Even saw one with Ash doing some butt shaken on Kotaku the other day..

As well as some weird things with pikachu going insane...

Right now too, a known web comic, VGCats, has a "Super Effective" side strip with a crazy Pikachu the officer lady is trying to execute. Of course she's failing.. but still :P

Hm. While I agree with the general sentiment that it happens in any fandom, there definitely is a larger portion than normal of fans who can get a bit out of hand with their zeal for the show, along with a greatly larger number of people who are into pornographic and violent depictions of the characters than any other fandom I've seen before.

There is r34 of everything ever, but there is probably a whole petabyte (exaggerated, but it's probably really somewhere around 350 tb at the very least of it floating around) of violent and sexual content involving MLP. It's just so much easier to find than anything else because it spills into other websites and people make whole groups and extremely popular sites for it. That's a phenomenon that I really haven't seen with any other fandom ever.

Does that mean I don't like the fandom for it? No. I have both learned about and developed my own theories of sexuality and to be honest clopping really does not bother me at all. I wouldn't do it myself but it's just a natural outgrowth of at first identifying with the complex personas of characters and focusing that into a sexual attraction, and then later on it become so normalized so as to spread to non-personified characters, just out of sexual preference. Anyone with an open mind and a background in psychology and sociology can see the way this phenomenon develops.

What really bothers me is violent content. The double-standard in our society, that's inevitably a product of western christian ideals is that violence is somehow more condonable than sexuality, which is stupid, since sexuality is a normal human behavior and violence is not. The violent content of MLP is actually disturbing relative to the sexual content because violence and representations of it in media are harmful outgrowths of negative emotions rather than possibly harmful outgrowths of normalized or even positive emotions like sexuality.

That's where I draw the line, and it is definitely what bothers me as a member of the fandom, and I can see why it bothers parents. Using violence as a method of corrupting the nature of the show, is, in most cases, pretty denigrating to the meaning of the show and kind of pointless, not to mention distasteful in general. There are a few exceptions, where the violence transcends the medium itself, but these are very rare and usually also involve a degree and quality of humor as well, along with an intention of irony and an understanding of its mechanism. (PONY.MOV is a good example of violence that doesn't detract too much from the work itself)

Should Hasbro pull C&D on everything because of it? Obviously not. The amount of positive and SFW fanworks are still vast and deep in number and scope so not only is there no reason to but it's also physically impossible. Should parents stop their kids from watching MLP? No, especially not if their kids don't hang around on the internet all that much so they don't even have the opportunity to interact with the supposedly "corrupting" bronies or whatever.

But parents are parents. Once you become a parent it's pretty hard to keep your head on straight about anything that could even remotely involve your child, since you have donated your genes to a creation of your physical body that is basically a part of you in someone else. You're automatically going to do everything you can to protect your child(ren) and I won't get mad at people for going at great lengths to do so as long as they aren't harming anyone else in the process.

And that's why, at the end of the day, this phenomenon is WRONG. It is insulting to both honest, hardworking, and innocent bronies and pegasisters to assume that either they corrupt the show and all who touch it or that they are "pedophiles" or "hostile homosexuals" or what have you. It is also insulting to the intelligence of the children who they should be instilling the ability to tell right from wrong in.

Finally, it is insulting to all of those who have worked damn hard on making this show what it is; the first truly genre-transcending, feminist, and non-essentialist children's television show for both girls and boys, and men and women of all ages who can also appreciate the quality.

tl;dr i agree the fandom has more problems than usual but the show is still good and parents who have bad judgment are insulting everyone including their children

Exactly! xD

It's even more dangerous to search pokemons on google image than search for ponies at the same place.

But I've never heard of parents overreacting to this, the pope even said pokemons were good lol. (seriously)

So well, let' just ignore this, these parents are not going to harm us, except the time with Derpy. But this was just so random.
