Parents telling little girls to NOT watch MLP?

I've been snooping around on some "parenting" websites and you'll never guess what I keep finding when I look into MLP discussions. Parents keeping posting threads how they tell their daughters to not watch MLP. Apparently they're doing this to "protect" their loved ones from us bronies because somehow, we're simultaneously a rape, pedophile, bestiality and LGBT crowd.

 

Those parents keep talking about how great the show is, but we bronies are somehow ruining it for their daughters. I've also heard them petitioning hasbro to start taking down our art and fanfics, even the non NSFW ones. Because you know, little girls are going to be searching for "MLP clop or gore stories." or are old enough to create an account to do so.

 

To you bronies who are parents that watch the show with your children, power to you. And could you please tell your fellow parents that we're not going to destroy the lives of their daughters? Because odds are, bronies have daughters too.

Wow I didn't think parents even knew or gave a crap about bronies. I can't believe they would keep their daughters from watching a show just because guys watch it too, that seems silly and kind of overreactive. And they are petitioning Hasbro to take down our art? Why would they do that? It's not causing any harm, unless it's NSFW of course, but still, it's the parent's responsibility to make sure their child isn't seeing NSFW content, anyway.

Well, you pretty much should know, that there's not much people can do about this. If they are so close minded and so negative about our fandom... What can we do? Sure, there are some people on the internet that might do us some shame, but to be called a group of rapists, pedophiles... I don't see any reason for that.

What do we have to do with the actual show, like i don't really understand the internet stuff, but just don't let them search it on the internet if its really that big a deal(Theres so much other stuff they could run into non brony related anyways, they should be watching their child regardless.) Stop making a big deal out of every little thing! There is no need to start freaking out and making assumptions that bronies or other people who enjoy this show are pedophiles! It seems that these parents think that there's something tainted about this show because adult males also enjoy it. I can see the reasoning behind it, even though I don't agree with it at all. After hearing about controversial matters such as clopping, some parents might assume that there's a lot of sex appeal in the show or something. Like the people above, I gotta say that it's stupid. MLP is simply a great show that's lovable and sophisticated, therefore appealing to such a wide audience.

 

Taking down the fanfics and art, even the ones that aren't NSFW? Whaat? That's ridiculous. I don't see how that could be possible either, since it's pretty much impossible to take down something from the Internet.

Well, parents will want to stop children from watching a show they personally don't like, no matter what the show is. Despite all the positive effects Dragonball Z had in my early teenage years, as I mentioned in the first anime thread, my parents employed almost every measure possible short of corporal punishment to stop me from watching it. All because of the ill-conceived notion that cartoons are all like Tom and Jerry i.e. mindless slapstick comedy with no real message underneath them. That's what they think is the reason cartoons and anime is detrimental to a child's mental development. Nvm how stupid it is to judge a show for its fanbase. It's especially stupid when you think about how many of these parents are likely stopping kids from watching MLP for religious reasons when their religion gets a lot of flack because of extremists and they subsequently complain about that. Extremists never define the core concept of any type of content, fictional or not.

Some parents are overprotective or over react about this topic. This show was meant to target kids those ages. It's the parents responsibility to supervise their children when they are on the internet. There is nothing wrong with watching MLP on tv because there is no fandom involved.

 

On the internet however, thats were things start to get a tad........pg13 for a lack of a better word lol

 

If I had children, i wouldn't keep them from watching MLP, heck I'd watch it with them, but when they go online, I'd make sure they don't go wondering off to M rated MLP content.

I can't stand parents like this. Have they even watched the version of this show? My guess is, they haven't even watched it and you see, this is the problem with some newspapers and media talking about Bronies. Howard Stern etc.etc.etc. have so many bad things to say about Bronies, and make us all out to be bad guys so often, that everybody thinks all Bronies are like that. This kind of stuff really makes me mad, cause the problem is what if Hasbro really starts to listen and cancels FIM? I worry about a ton of things, and that might be extreme , but think about this they changed Derpy's voice just because Soccer Mom's  had a problem with Derpy too.
