Why do some bronies seem to hate Princess Celestia?

Wow, you've spoken my mind exactly :o I sympathised with her far more than Luna in this instance, you could see her reluctance to fight and the pain it caused her when she knew what she was going to do.

But what about the sibling rivalry? Celestia was always better then Luna, always casing a shadow down on her, and making her feel useless. Every pony slept and dreaded her creation while they cherished and loved her sisters. Celestia really didn't have to use the elements, it wasn't her last option. She could of had more, but the first one was done so quickly, she missed all the chances to do something else.

And plus, wouldn't Luna feel the same guilt as Celestia? Turning against her own flesh and blood?

Celestia is the ideal Matriarch.

I like her because she is a good leader. Like Applejack her lack of "quirks" make her boring to some people but I say you don't have to act like a cartoon to have strength of character. But for some being wise or loving isn't interesting enough.

This I feel is a matter of perception, did Celestia explicitly make Luna feel inferior or is this Luna's own insecurity? I think Luna does admit to Sweetie Belle that she struggled to live in her sister's shadow, but I've never seen an example of Celestia belittling Luna to justify her insecurity. When Twilight has a flashback to the sisters' struggle, Luna explicitly states that there can only be one princess, whilst Celestia urges her to be cooperative. I'm not the best at remembering every exact detail, but was there a scene where it was stated that the ponies feared the night? The use of the elements I feel was justified considering NM threatened the livelihood of all ponies in Equestria, the absence of light prevented the earth ponies from cultivating anything from the land, which could have contributed to a starvation. I think the struggle is shortened down for the sake of episode length but this shouldn't distract from the severity of the situation which provokes Celestia to use the elements.

I assume she would feel the same guilt. However, NM intends to bring eternal night again upon her escape, maybe 1000 years would have been sufficient time to contemplate her actions and renounce her previous ways? But the Elements of Harmony are required again before her redemption occurs.

Obviously, this is a subjective discussion and so different interpretations of the same instance will occur :)

Celestia was mean to my wife she could have explained why the ponys love the day more then the night. But she never did my wife wanted to have two rulers but celestia was shelfish. Because of this my wife turned to nightmare moon. My wife is the better princess.

Didn't you post the same message last page?

It is the truth about princess celestia

But wasn't it also true that Luna became Nightmare Moon simply just so she can satisfy her bruised ego and was willing to make the ponies fear her to do so?

Heck, Lauren Faust even said that if NMM had won, Luna would've ushered in a new era of evil that would have every pony in Equestria suffer, essentially she would've became what Sombra had done to the Crystal Empire only alot worse because she has more power. Sorry, but what Celestia did, which Faust also made a point of how reluctant she was and how we're shown it in the season 4 premiere, was necessary as it ended up being for the best for everyone involved, including Luna as I'm sure whatever adoration Luna would've garnered as Nightmare Moon would be fear and loathing induced as they would despise her, not ignore her nights do to their sleep cycle.

i do like that, but we,as an audience, never get to see her being wise and powerful.

i can do that to you know?here is a character, his name is john.

he is a wise ruler of the land Quadratistan and he loves and cares for his subjects.i dont really know what he does all day long,i guess some ruler things.

this is the problem i have with celestia, she has a lot of potential as a character, but i do hope we are gonna see at least one episode centered around her(and maybe luna) in season 5 :) !

*5 year old little girl whining voice* I don't liiikkkkeee her. She smells like horse pooooop

No U.

Why were you mean to princess luna she only wanted to share power. You never told her why the ponys like the day better that is why you were selfish and luna turned to nightmare moon.

Propaganda and lies.

i do like that, but we,as an audience, never get to see her being wise and powerful.

What about that time she told Twilight to run? That was pretty sagacious advice.

Or what about all those times she raised the sun. Pretty powerful feat, if you ask me.

And lets not forget to add in that she rose the Moon as well, after her sister's banishment.

...and umm...Oh yes!

Celestia is like a Daoist ruler. She gets everything done, under sun, by doing nothing at all. It's paradoxical but the Daoist's call this...

Wu Wei. Yeah, that's it, Wu Wei.

Action through non-action.

[insert deep convoluted philosophical explanation here]

Therefore, Celestia is wise, by not touting her wisdom, and is powerful, by not displaying her power.

She's perfect.

Well, hopefully the writers do her some justice and they do just that.

I don't hate Celestia, and in fact, I think she's better than Luna, although I identify more with Luna, because she felt awkward, because when she was first banished, things were very different. I identify with that, because I almost feel like I should've been born in the early/mid 1900's. Then again, then I would have to live under the veil of ignorance and propaganda until the internet was made.

It's mostly because of a few Luna or Chrysalis fanboys. Typically this is used to justify Luna's actions or Chrysalis's, either that, or give them a sob story

I made my point . She was the reason luna became nightmare moon.

So Luna is a liar when she basically admits it was her fault?

What do you mean her fault celestia never told her why the ponies love the day then her night that is what started it.

Luna pretty much said that it was her own jealousy that did it, it was her fault

Celestia shouldn't be blamed or hated for banishing Luna. It's not like she wanted to.  Basically it was Luna's fault, for she believed something that wasn't true. Like Evil Dragon Master stated, it was Luna's jealousy that made her become Nightmare Moon. Celestia had to banish her, it was the only way to stop her. -__-

I think that Celestia wasn't quite sensitive enough to her sister's needs and desires when she was recieving more adoration than her sister.  NOT that it was intentional or even fully her fault (they were busy).  But, like Main 6 did to Twily in Lesson 0, she didn't evaluate the issue as seriously as Luna felt it was.

Then, after having banished Luna, she realized she had taken herself too seriously (see upcoming comic) 3.jpg

She realized that she had to change, and while I don't think she Galigestia'd it, she did something to change her status (so much that eventually the word Queen became Princess [no proof available]).

So, while Celestia was not blameless, she should not have been blamed for Luna.
