Your favorite moral in FiM? (So far)

Kyoshi Frost Wolf

Recommended Posts

Out of the many morals that FiM has portrayed, which one is your favorite so far? Or favorites, if you cannot narrow it down to one. I will put NO pressure on you, so MAKE YOUR DECISION! *Ahem*

Mine might actually be from Equestria Girls. The moral of just being yourself is a big thing to me, as I view self acceptance as being very important, as much as I have trouble with accepting myself personally. I really wish I was able to do that without all of these nagging negative thoughts towards myself...Still, I think the movie does it well and it is a great moral. I know that one may argue that it goes against that due to the girls all being über pretty and whatnot, but that is a different discussion. (And quite frankly I have no problem with that so...meh, whatever) Ohitan!

Hows about YOU fine mares and gentlecolts?

Friendship is Magic taught me that Ponies are the master-race in Equestria and should be treated as such.
I mean: Griffons are jerks, Rainbow Dash is a jerk (And totally not a pony), Cockatrices are jerks, Dragons are jerks, even dogs are jerks, etc.

I can't choose a favorite moral out of all of the ones that have been presented so far. However, looking at them as a whole, I can say that my favorite would be the general theme of all of them. That theme, as I view it, would be that we all encounter problems in life, but we are all capable of overcoming them if we choose to focus on the positive, and not allow the negative to overwhelm us. As the show presents, a great way to do this is to not only turn to friends for help, but to be a friend to others. In addition, goodness always wins in the end. It may not be right away. It may not even be within a person's lifetime. But it always does, due to the inherent self-destructive and selfish nature of evil that is also presented in the show.

I feel that these things are presented in a variety of ways throughout Friendship is Magic, taking the form of more specific moral lessons involving friendship, family, life, and other matters.

I love it when cartoons give "morals", I mean, when was the last time you watched a cartoon and actually learned something that changed you're life in a dramatic way? Never. The episode of a random show is almost over, then someone asks "Wooks wike' Shombudy Wearned a Vawiabr Wesson!!!!" :-P (o_O) Cartoons always seem to slap a valiable lesson by the end of the episode just bcause'. I find it hilarious. XD

I wish more people would call me ,"sir"....without adding, "You're making a scene".

The Crystal Empire (Princess Celestia: "Twilight, as I understand it, Spike brought Princess Cadance the Crystal Heart because you weren't sure how quickly you could find a way to escape the tower. You weren't willing to risk the future of the citizens of the Crystal Empire in an effort to guarantee your own. Far better that I have a student who understands the meaning of self-sacrifice than one who only looks out for her own best interests.").

Does anyone have a favorite lesson in the show?

More specifically, a friendship lesson at the end of most episodes where either Twilight or the other Pony's/ Some characters write a letter to Celestia.

My favorite is "Don't fear embarrassment" from "Hurricane Fluttershy"  ;)

That's not the lesson from Hurricane Fluttershy. The lesson from that episode is that any contribution, no matter how small it is, can count towards a group effort :)

My favourite moral would be from Party Of One, and partly inspired my permanent change of personality into a much more optimistic individual. The friendship letter went like this:

"I am writing to you from the most delightful party. I'm not only having a great time with my friends, but also was given the opportunity to learn a valuable lesson about friendship. Always expect the best from your friends and never assume the worst. Rest assured that a good friend always has your best interests at heart."

It was so adorable to watch Pinkie Pie learn that, as she only ever has goodness in her heart and it was that little piece on optimism that she learned to really make her Best Pony a wonderfully rounded character :) I really appreciate it as an ethic - what good is there in being a downer about future events that haven't happened? Be bright and cheery in life, y'know!

Lol, The one from Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000.

If you get it, Nice job. But if you don't.

I wanted to share my thoughts with you. [clears throat] I didn't learn anythin'! Ha! I was right all along! If you take your time to do things the right way, your work will speak for itself. Sure I could tell you I learned something about how my friends are always there to help me, and I can count on them no matter what, but truth is, I knew that already too.

It's the one from Mysterious Mare Do Well:

We don't need superheroes! Together we are stronger and more capable the anyone of them!

My favorite lesson would be don't overreact to bad things that happen (Lesson Zero). However, I don't really like the lessons... Probably the only thing about MLP FIM that I don't like.

My favorite lesson is "I didn't learn anything!" from the apple cider war episode.

Least favorite lesson is "The mentally challenged should be hidden away and censored for the sake of overly-offended normal people." from the Derpygate scandal. :P

My favorite lesson has to be from Rarity in sweet and elite.

Rarity: I learned that no matter where you go in life, you should never forget that you are the product of your home and your friends. And that is something always to be proud of, no matter what.

I think one of my favorite lessons from one of the episodes was actually with Rarity, when she learns that it doesn't matter what other ponies think of you, popular or not, what matters is what you think of yourself, to never forget who your real friends are and to be proud of where you're from.

In that episode, Rarity gets to go to Canterlot and gets to stay at the palace thanks to Twilight and Princess Celestia. However after encountering a couple of locals, they critized her for being not from Canterlot but from Ponyville, and that her hat she created (which what attracted them to talk to her in the first place) looked too "country" and therego not worthy of Canterlot style in their eyes. This of course really upset Rarity and she was set out to prove them wrong by being generous to Twilight in making her a beautiful outfit for her birthday. But as the episode carries on and Rarity gets noticed of whereabouts she was staying by other popular ponies, the popularity gets to her head and so loses track on what really matters. She was ashamed of where she was from and therego treated anything that was from her home as a shame as well, including her own friends. She'd hide or lie about her home town and friends for the sake of approval of the more upper class ponies of Canterlot, but she later realizes this was wrong, especially when her friends are put in emotional harms way from poltential negative critizism.

The lesson I love about this is that you should never be ashamed of your past or home, because those are in fact your roots and where you are from that helps establish who you are. I'm proud of my home and state of the USA and I happily embrace who I am. Granted there are flaws I like to fix on myself, but I should never let them be flaws I feel need to be changed just because of what others opinions say or think of me. Love that lesson

The lesson from Feeling Pinkie Keen was an unusual favorite of mine.

Twilight: There are wonderful things in this world you just can't explain, but that doesn't necessarily make them any less true.

Everyone loves Misty. For good reason, of course. :3

I loved Lesson Zero's moral, because it's one that was very applicable to me at the time. I'm infinitely better about it now, but I used to freak when I missed one homework assignment. As a straight A student. Who turns in her homework basically every day of the school year.

I also really liked The Last Roundup's moral as one that is still useful to keep in mind to this day. I tend to have absurdly high standards for myself and feel like I'm letting myself and everyone else down if I don't fulfill them, when in reality, most people are not nearly that judgmental.

At least,

My favorite lesson (because I usually act otherwise) might be that one from "Applebuck Season".

Not the exact words, but the whole "If you need help and someone offers it, don't be stubborn. Ask for and/or accept their help."

Because everyone needs help every once in a while.

I love the morale of feeling Pinkie Keen because it is telling you to blindly follow things that may or may not be real because screw it I can have an obvious religious metaphor in a kids show if I want to!

My favorite moral is that of Read it and Weep. Rainbow Dash says simply "Don't knock it until you try it!"

Think about it, so many people knock things (such as reading and stuff) before they actually experience it! It can also be applied to the show itself and the brony community.

Dear Princess Celestia,

Today I learned something amazing! Everypony everywhere has a special magical connection with her friends, maybe even before she's met them. If you're feeling lonely and you're still searching for your true friends, just look up in the sky. Who knows, maybe you and your future best friends are all looking at the same rainbow.

Immediately after hearing this the first time I watched the episode, I paused and then went to the window and looked up into the sky.

That year was a very lonely year for me.  I'm a bit of a sucker for cheesy things.

But it really made me feel like I wasn't so alone.

And then this one:

I'll tell you what we've learned Discord. We've learned that friendship isn't always easy. But there's no doubt it's worth fighting for.

Just because.

And:

I learned that no matter where you go in life, you should never forget that you are the product of your home and your friends. And that is something always to be proud of, no matter what.

Because I may not be from the place I'm living now, and my family may not be proud to be Malaysian, but I am.  I grew up here.

And I am proud.

And I definitely won't forget.

And then this absolutely amazing one:

And now our bodies will become as cold as our hearts...all because we were foolish enough to hate.

Yeah you stupid people.

Foolish enough to hate.

Seeing the Great Dragon Migration made me wonder what it meant to be a dragon, but now I realize that who I am is not the same as what I am. I may have been born a dragon, but Equestria  and my pony friends had taught me how to be kind, loyal, and true. I'm proud to call Ponyville my home, and to have my pony friends as my family.

Similar to the Sweet and Elite lesson.

By treating Discord as a friend, she got him to realize that friendship was actually important to him. And something that, once he had, he didn't want to lose. Friendship is magic.

Because its adorable!

Dizzyshy!

Don't judge me xD

I wouldn't be standing here if it weren't for the friendships I've made with all of you. Each one of you taught me something about friendship, and for that, I will always be grateful

Oh God, I love you Twilight.

The magic of friendship doesn't just exist in Equestria, it's everywhere. You can seek it out. Or you can forever be alone. The choice is yours.

I think my heart skipped a beat when I heard this.

A true princess in any world leads not by forcing others to bow before her, but by inspiring others to stand with her.

Why not?

-hint hint-

Luna, Luna.

Yeah... Uhm...there's a lot.

Also, I point this out again:

And now our bodies will become as cold as our hearts...all because we were foolish enough to hate.

Mine is probably from the episode with the diamond dogs, when rarity showed that just because you are a lady does not mean she can't hold her own or fight back.

which is your favourite moral.

Umm...from what I've watched of the show so far (in season 2 at the moment), I would say Twilight's first realisation "I learned how wonderful it is to have friends" from 'The Elements of Harmony' struck a chord with me. It may seem the most obvious but my lack of  acceptance regarding companionship paralleled Twi in the 1st episode, its a basic moral/lesson but a very powerful one which I am still working on.

EDIT: Oo also I just remembered Applebuck Season had another moral I loved, it was about accepting help. I tend to help others but I hate being helped myself.
