Photoshop, GIMP- photo editing programs like that. But there's a fast, free and effective high quality image editing site that can crop gifs in just a few steps. Lunapic.com, I believe. c:

The original artwork didn't have a cutie mark though, so I just plastered one on there myself and it turned out really well I think.

It's an Equinox version of my OC. Someone edited my original picture to look like that for free. I wanted it to have TV static, making it fade from original pic to Equinox pony, but I couldn't find anywhere to do it for free. So I made it grainy on Photoshop and made it jittery on Lunapic. So ya. It's the most original I can make an avatar.

'cause Comet Tail, if you take his cutie mark to mean a love for astronomy, is pretty much me ponified.

 

And I like his color scheme, and most of all - he's shipped with Twilight sometimes. It's very acceptable to ship BG ponies with mane 6, so shipping myself with Twi is very easy when I'm a BG pony, one who even matches me really well XD
