We have all seen characters in games that we really liked, but they were just one time characters. Never to be seen again, even in sequels. So, I ask you to name one or more characters that you would like to make a comeback.

 

One character I would like to see make a comeback is General Guy from Paper Mario. First off, he was a general. Auto cool points. Second, he was the leader of the shy guys which merits him respect. Third, his theme music sounded very military-like mixed with a little silliness. It was fun to listen to. Fourth, just look at the guy. One of the coolest designed characters in the game. I wish he would make a comeback in a future Paper Mario game. General Guy is just too cool to be a one time character.

I'm honestly sick of the new games pretty much only focusing on Sonic and Tails. There are tons of better Sonic characters than Sonic and Tails that I would rather play as. SEGA needs to stop trying to appeal towards the nostalgia-obsessed crowd and just make a new Sonic Adventure or something with multiple character story arcs. I don't like Sonic because of Sonic, I like Sonic because of: Shadow, Knuckles, Espio, and other characters.

Since sonic 06's terrible failure that almost killed the franchise, he has been the most hated of them all because of his voice and performance. Since then, he still appears, however, he's more of a background character, as well as just there for extra characters.

 

He has a lot of potential in terms of development, ideas, and likewise. Add in his amazing theme song, design, telekenetic powers, and for being underrated makes him a must to come back.

I mean come on, he's a wooden warrior for crying out loud. He also had an excellent design, and killer special powers too.

Only problem is, the character is a registered trademark of Square Enix, so not a lot of Nintendo appearances could be made.

I hated this guy at first, but his character really grew on me as I played through the game. He was great comic relief and he had enough depth to make him a fleshed out character (especially in contrast to the other ones in phantom hourglass...)

I'd like to see Viktor Reznov and Dmitri Petrenko brought back because CoD: World at War never explains what happened to them between 1943-1944. I'd like to see a game where you play as one of the two and drive the Germans out of East Prussia and Poland.

 

Sadly, I know they'll never make a game like this because WWII shooters have been out of style since 2009.

I'd love to see Sten come back in Dragon Age: Inquisition.  He was one of the party members in Dragon Age: Origins.  He showed up in recent comics as well.  Would love to see him with the new graphics engine ...  Especially with the possibility for the head inquisitor to be a qunari, it would be interesting to see what type of dialogue there would be with the Arishok and the rest of the Triumvirate.

I genuinely liked Shadow in Sonic Adventure 2, but that game was telling a complete story - a story with a beginning and an end. I don't really think Shadow was really built to participate in every adventure of Sonic and his pals, he's just too much of a mood-switch.

 

I know the return would be a bit pointless, but I'd kind of like to see Corporal Shepard return. There's been a number of military characters named Shepard, so to refresh your memory, he was the protagonist of Half-Life: Opposing Force, and one of very few characters in the Half-Life series to speak to the G-Man. Supposedly, he's still sitting in the G-Man's pocket somewhere.

I would like to see a return of Midna from The Legend of Zelda. She appeared in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and hasn't appeared in any other Zelda game since. Granted, not a lot of new Zelda games have came out since Twilight Princess, so I guess it makes sense she hasn't returned yet. Despite the ending of Twilight Princess, there has to be a way for her to come back for another game. She was such a great character.

I find myself wishing that the protagonist, Minato, from Persona 3 come back in a future Persona game, despite it not really being canonically possible. Game spoilers in the spoiler tag.

 

I mean, after all, he BECAME the seal to prevent Nyx from destroying the world, so it's impossible for him to be broken free unless there are arcana shenanigans or a gaping plot hole.

 

I'd...also like to see Koutetsushin Jeeg and Linebarrels of Iron continue to be a part of the Super Robot Wars franchise, even if they aren't specific characters.

I want to see Scarecrow come back. He was great in Arkham Asylum, but they didn't use him to his fullest. The design was awesomely nightmarish and there's plenty that could be done with his fear gas. Just imagine a boss battle that turns into something out of Nightmare on Elm Street.

Auron was a guardian, he rebelled and got killed then he came to Zanarkand. Storywise, he was just Tidus if Tidus had failed to beat Yunalesca. Is it worth rehashing into a full game?

 

Me, I'd like to see Seymour's journey...Final Fantasy's never done a villain protagonist before...Hell, Yu Yevon's journey, even. The lead-up to that historical war, the war itself... End the game on a hope spot with some inner monologue about how the fayth will dream Zanarkand back into being...Then credit roll. Nice chilling cutoff for those who've seen how it turns out already.

ive been a huge fan of Halo since the 5th grade, and im now a junior Halo4 and the death of Cortana left me in tears, Id love to see that character return ! Master Chief really had no one but her :/
