Opinion on Daring Do's personality? *spoilers*

She is very reluctant to trust anypony but with how many times she has probably been double crossed this is understandable. I would be interested in seeing what made her decide to turn her experiences into novels, sure they are marketed as fiction but there is still the risk that somepony could find out the truth.

I thought she would be a bit more laid back but she seemed a bit tense though given the situation she was in, that is understandable. I think that she's probably a bit of a loner but it's obvious that once you warm up to her she is nice. Her personality was great and I would say that it fit, though I was expecting a bit more laid back attitude and sort of like Rainbow Dash. Again, that's probably just because of the situation she was in.

Exactly, I found it pretty odd because the people involved could figure out. Maybe despite her loner tendencies, she does have a desire to share her stories with somebody. After all, she lives alone in the middle of a forest and otherwise nobody would have any idea of what she did...

She was a lone wolf and was reluctant to ask for help because of bad past experiences. It's completely understandable. In the end though, she did see the value in sometimes needing assistance. I REALLY hope she returns in the future.

I would have expected the real Daring Do to be a bit rougher anyway, she's also probably older than her book self as well so yeah, her crankiness is understandable.

indy_200s-c20eab301543d37f3db8f450889906Sans Harrison Ford and the whip, really Daring Do reminds me a lot of a ponified female version of Indiana Jones. And that should make complete sense for those who have watched Read it and Weep. Her character is loosely based off of Indiana Jones basically and all the themes that come with it, temple/cave/jungle trekking, escaping seemingly impossible death traps, treasure hunting, and the typical artifact of doom.

Daring do comes off as very discreet and likes to work incognito as a seemingly humble author, much like Indiana Jones takes on the guise of a regular college professor of archaeology: both downplay the adventures and exploits of their fields a lot. Moreover they both also have a deep understanding about the significance of things, ie preventing an artifact of doom from falling into the wrong hands.

Daring Do is rough, gruff and works alone with a low profile, but that's how the original Indiana Jones preferred to operate too. The only real sidekick he had was the kid Short Round in Temple of Doom, and his other companions were either family, inconvenient coincidental potential romantic tag a longs, and associates and colleagues.

If Daring Do seemingly resembles Indiana Jones a lot, that's because she probably is meant to. Great heroes and adventurers think alike.

"We do not follow maps to buried treasure and X never, ever, marks the spot." :P

just dawned on me. Does this mean Daring has a job somewhere as a teacher when she isn't writing or exploring?

Her personality shows that Daring Do is not willing to trust someone so easily, which is understandable. Trust isn't the easiest thing to gain as a way to get on someone's good side, she was double crossed in the past by people she thought she could trust but they turn on her in a flash. Now, she will extend a hoof out for trust if they are willing to help her and not turn on her.

oh crap um...

to be fair it wasn't the time or place to be putting up with a groupie if you need me to be objective.

or evaluating hiring a new partner.

WIth her living on the edge of society she likely wouldn't know who princess twilight was,

so i could totally argue her getting a pass on reacting poorly.

Indiana Jones is my favorite character of all time and I agree that she she was based upon him, but I didn't like her and can't put my finger on why. Maybe because she lacked Indy's humor, but her not knowing who Rainbow Dash was (greatest flyer to come out of Cloudsdale) let alone Twilight rubbed me the wrong way. I also think she totally lacks Indy's humility.

I think she's a good character... I love how she gave Rainbow a chance to use her element... loyalty... It's hard to stay loyal to someone who doesn't want you and claims not to need you... but the fact that Rainbow's loyalty remained was a nice touch for me... Daring Do, although reserved and a tad grumpy... Was a brilliant way of giving Rainbow a chance to prove her loyalty... Just saying...

Daring's attitude of the start was not good at all. Even though she was a loner, she could've eased up quite a bit, even with Rainbow's fangirling. The thing that really did it for me, was when she blamed Dash for everything, and even when Dash saved her, she still didn't thank her. At least Dash was there to teach her that it's not always good to work alone, because help won't always be there.

As others said she came off as a bit testy but that's understandable when there are other ponies and creatures trying to ruin your day. Though I liked it when she realized that being with somepony who wants to help you isn't all bad and I guess her way of thanking dash was giving her the new book a few weeks before anyone else.

I liked her personality. It made sense for her to not trust anyone, as something bad probably happened the last time she trusted someone. She just didn't want that to happen again. And I'm guessing she didn't really trust Rainbow Dash due to her looking like she was the one who searched her home (she was at the scene of the crime at the wrong time.)

And it does make sense for her to be mad at Rainbow Dash after she was captured as it was kind of Rainbow Dash's fault.

But I'm glad Daring Do accepted Rainbow Dash's help by the end of the episode, and it was nice to see her way of thanking Rainbow Dash. I look forward to seeing her in the future.
