The day has arrived. Much adversity has befallen the forums over the previous sporting event, March Madness 2014, but now we begin a clean slate. It looks like a recent poll has suggested that the Group of Death is a tossup between Groups D, E, and H. You could say that it shows just how talented the World Cup pool is isn't it @PE Brony? People are also touting The Great and Powerful Trixie, along with Zecora and Spike to quietly go far in this competition despite their underdog status! What do you think @Frostgage?? Will Rainbow Dash disappoint, or will she stun is all with her Sonic Rainboom?! All this and more to be resolved beginning tonight at 9:00 pm EST!

Rainbow Dash didn't have the strongest showing in Season 4, which has led some to believe she may disappoint in the World Cup, especially since she's in a potential Group of Death. We'll have to wait and see.

 

Either way, this tournament really is wide open, you could see just about anyone winning.

Ah, yes! We're back; and you all thought I was kidding about the shirt thing didn'tcha?? haha I was not! Anyway, Sterling, I personally have never seen a tournament so full of talent, with such strong supporters before in my life! The pooling was very balanced in my honest opinion, so balanced, in fact, that I struggled for a long time to even think there might be a "group of death"! 

 

Let's look at each of the groups in contention for the most feared group in the competition:

For sake of wordiness, I'm going to highlight just a couple of them that are standouts from what I've been able to gather:

 

Group D:

 

First off is CMC Scootaloo. This purple-haired pegasus is always ready to show what she's got! The Crusaders may not be the Mane 6, but they sure do seem to have a strong following!

Pinkie Pie has a lot going for her here. If anypony knows how to bring energy to an event, it's Pinkie Pie!! 

 

Group E:

The more I think about this group, the scarier is gets! Out of the 8 groups, only two have an all-mare group! (The other being group B of course). Both of these groups are sure to get some pretty heated match ups.

 

The Queen of Fabulosity, Rarity, is the heavyweight here. She's prone to having strong support and will use all her wiles to keep it that way!

Derpy has that special place in everypony's hearts. She may not say much, but I knew about her before I was even a fan of the show at all! If her influence has spread outside of the fandom, that's gotta count for something!

 

Group H:

This group is actually the one I chose way back when the group of death poll originally popped up!

 

Rainbow Dash is the ultimate competitor; she has the most self-motivation by far. However, this is a huge popularity-based competition and I feel like her fanbase is not as strong here so she had a lot of votes in the "Most likely to disappoint" poll the last few days. Hopefully her supporters will come out stronger than anticipated! That tough-mare attitude may be off-putting enough for someponies to move their vote elsewhere!

 

I feel that Daring Do and Princess Cadance will make a good match up and may be the strongest two in this group.

Spike received a lot of votes for "Dark Horse" last week so we may have a few surprises coming from this group!
