thoughts before watching MLP:FIM

Before learning of FiM, I wasn't even aware that MLP TV series even existed. I only knew the brand from the toy line, and really, I didn't even know of that until around ten years ago when I joined a forum where a prominent member collected the toys and was proud of it.

So, yeah, I can't claim to have had any interest in colorful ponies and such before I watched FiM. It comes off as strange to me that I never saw an interest in them before. I think I have to credit FiM's approach, as well as the design of the ponies. I honestly still don't care for the designs of the earlier generations at all.

Anyway, I was completely neutral to the franchise. When I first heard of MLP:FiM, I didn't have to think too hard before giving it a shot. I've never "grown out of" cartoons, and the initial impression that was given to me by the ones that made the topic I first heard of it in was that it was like the late 90s/early 00s CN cartoons (like Powerpuff Girls) which I loved, so I gave it a shot instantly, even though I remember doing that during a time I should have been studying. (it was okay, I aced everything, IIRC xD)

Although I can't lie, I thought that the guys that were talking about it were all joking around. I thought it was nothing more than a meme, and I probably still thought that even after I joined this forum. A group of guys being secure enough in themselves to be able to enjoy something girly? Impossible!

I remember very well the night I started to watch it and my first thought was 'Why am I doing this? I'm supposed to hate this! There's no way I'll become a fan.' Not even a minute later, 'This is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen!' and by the end of the first episode, 'I've found my life heroes!'

I see a bunch of memes and pictures with MLP ponies on them. I know MLP was a TV show for girls, I have seen some clips, but it does not appeal to me because I don't really like horses, so I can't really get into it if I do not like the art style.

However, these pictures look different, the characters are more anime-style and do not really look like horses. Also, this purple unicorn with straight hairstyle (is that called a "hime" style?) looks cute.

Oh hey, SfDebris has a review of the first two episodes, let's watch it. Interesting, this looks like a show I would like, I should go download it.

I was right, this show is good, also, the cute purple pony also has a personality that I like and can sort-of identify with. Awesome.

All I knew about MLP were bits from G3 from back in the day. I knew the names of a few characters from FiM, but that was it. I wouldn't say that I found the fandom weird, but it definitely left me scratching my head a little.

At first I rejected the zero, but that was because I simply didn't understand it. Now I do.

My experience MLP before getting into G4 was some of the G3 stuff my sister watched/had when we were kids (Like the Minty Christmas special).

Wish I got into G4 a lot earlier than I did though. Even though i found out about bronies in 2012, didn't become one until 2018.

Well I start watching it in Dec2020 and this process came in a couple of steps, I'm gonna give you a bit more details here :>

until Dec2020 / before I had any contact with MLP:

I was aware of this show but never checked it out. Never thought much about it, so I had not ideas or opinion about it.

When I found Tridashie Friendship is Musical Series

I clicked on it without knowing/realizing what it is. In the first seconds I realized what I was watching and I stayed on it cause it was good and I also had no bias about it. I really liked it and I wanted to see more of this Tridashie stuff. I found it cute, funny and creative

When I first watched the parts of the Filly Vanillie Episode/Reaction:

I quickly fall in love with this character of Fluttershy cause my Childhood experiences. So I was really interesting to see more about her characters and other. I thought this could be really a cute and interesting, heartwarming show. So I went in the show with a lot of expectations

And then I started to watch the show :>
