What kind of place do you live, the Big City or out in the Country or possibly something in between.

Me? I live in a medium sized city (Colorado Springs, CO) with a population of about 400,000 people about 60 miles south of Denver literally in the middle of the State.

Here's a nice picture

I like it here in suburbia, we have the best of both worlds.

I live in the suburbs. My family is planning on moving out to the country on a huge acreage next year.

I hate the suburbs. Just a bunch of bland cookie-cutter houses. Sigh.

Colorado springs looks like heaven compared to where I live.

I live somewhere in Texas, but I'm not going to give my city name either.

I live in a small town in Louisiana, though it wouldn't fully call it "out in the country", though it's not quite a suburb either. Not sure what to call it.

Y'know, I've been on this site for almost ten years and I've never had a proper signature. Ain't that something?

I live in the great American Suburbia of that grand ol' state of New Jersey. Where everyone is a gangster and smokes weed... (That is partly true...) ...yeah I think I need a new place to live.

A bit urban where I live, but far from a major city; regardless, once you leave the street I live on its commercial for a few miles before getting to a highway or the beach, which is still pretty urban, as there it is literally hotel after hotel along the coast. And then there's the issue of the very few natural areas being inhabited by the local homeless population, or are large expanses of farmland, which makes it difficult to find an escape from the urban areas. Not to mention that the forests also contain boars and alligators (occasionally).

I have to say that I would prefer to at least live somewhere where I can actually go to a damned forest again   >_>

EDIT: You should make this a poll.

  • 5 years later...

I'm a country girl at heart. Big city life is too much for me, although, visiting the city every now and then is fun. But there's nothing like the tranquility of the countryside, and the rednecks. ^_^ I never fit in with the city girls....

I've unfortunately been living in the city for the past 12 years and have missed my previous rural home terribly. As soon as I'm able, I'm moving right back.

I've always been.. Uncomfortable in bigger cities such as Oslo. Yeah, Oslo is pretty small compared to cities with like 5 million+ people, but Oslo to me is pretty damn big, especially compared to where I live.

The Municipality I live in have like 3-5k people in it in total, which to me is perfect due to my asocial/non-social/introverted nature.

Less people, less worry, easier to find someone to connect with.

That and I have problems in crowds..

So to answer the question, out in the countryside for sure.

I live in the country, and I have to say, I hate it. It's really bad for me because of the lack of jobs, the lack of places I'd really want to go to, and the lack of anything I'd really find interesting happening around. I'd still hate the city because it's so not peaceful, quiet, or cheap to live in the city.

I'd like it in-between those two. Maybe suburbs, medium-sized towns...

I've never lived in a big city, but would almost definitely prefer it over the country. While it is quite visually beautiful to drive through the countryside I would be disturbed by being out in the middle of nowhere if I had to live there.

I really am most comfortable in a medium-sized town. Even a smaller town is too small for me.

I live in a small town so kind of somewhere inbetween the two, both the centre of town and the countryside are within 10 minutes walking distance from where I live depending which way I walk, I'd say it more of a rural area overall though which I prefer over large urban areas like cities as I find them too big and too overcrowded.

Having lived in both, I strongly prefer rural areas. Cities are crowded, boring, and almost always full of terrible people. I'm so glad I don't live in Norfolk anymore.

I'm definitely more of a rural person. I've lived in some of the most fertile farmland in the world (Central IL) my entire life. I like it that way.

Many of my old friends moved to the city. They couldn't stand the country side where they grew up.

But for me, I can't leave the country side for many reasons, mostly because of the fresh air and lovely scenery. I am not bias just because I have lived there my entire life.

I live in a suburb, though my college town is surrounded by rural farmland and it shows. :P I wouldn't mind living in a more rural area one day, though. Somewhere out of the way but not so far from civilization that I have a long commute.
