What's up with School's Class?

As I watched "Twilight Time", one thought kept running through my mind:

Just how many kids are in that class?!? :o

The really weird part is it seems to be an old fashioned one room schoolhouse, and when there are scenes of the classroom there seem to be 9-12 students/desks. Yet the student body of Ponyville elementary just seems to keep fluctuating, with kids popping up in & out of existence at random. (Right, Pip?)

I know it's just a kids' cartoon--one for little girls--and I should really just relax, but some consistency would be nice.

Seriously, it looked like there were more kids than the school could possibly hold!

How do you think WE feel?!

I noticed in the scene when they were pressed up against the gate they seemed a lot like zombies. Perhaps there's some sort of virus that turns full grown ponies into fillies.

In the cultural period of one-room rural schoolhouses, one class 'session' might only be in the morning (or afternoon, and in some rare cases evening), and not necessarily every day. If they followed that model, that would let that number of foals rotate through the school.

That's not to say they rest of the time was 'off'. This was in rural areas where the kid's chores would be serious farm work. Tending livestock and the like. Equestrians seem to have a lot more leisure time available.

Rotating classes makes sense, but the staff really wanted bodies too. They wanted it to look like a pre-teen mob. That's why I don't get why people keep saying "zombies". Their reaction was supposed to be a parody of how Tweens (Bronies) react to a celebrity. Somebody even made the point that Tara had Twilight sound and react like she does at a Con-a funny thought indeed.

like it is public property.

...............

School play grounds ARE public property.. unless a private school... or.... hmmmm

Well Out in my country town area the schools playgrounds are.. but like any other "park" area its "closed" after dark. Except the one by the pool, since the pool is part of the community center technically and thats open after dark.

I think they wanted to give the impression that Ponyville was growing in size.  Also, since they never actually showed a class, we can assume they are all from different classes.

They have been giving some rather subtle cues for that in other ways as well. There's a lot more ponies at the train station now whenever they go, when doing establishing shots of the Library or like they're setting them farther back to include more surroundings, more vendors in the marketplace, etc. The question there, did this immigration to Ponyville start when the rest of Equestria found out the Bearers of the Elements of Harmony lived there, or is it more recent with Princess Twilight?
