"Leap of Faith" was great! Applejack's always been a favorite of mine (her attitude, design, accent...everything), and this episode represented her well.

 

I did vote for Celestia, but gotta give AJ a shout out!

 

 

She's a practical pony who knows what's important. Her direct approach makes her one of the more personable ponies around, but can manifest as a stubborn streak sometimes. That steadfast stance is a sign of sincerity though.

 

Putting family and friends first, she does all she can to help them grow and make them happy. Turning an eye to the truth only when it could impact that happiness; however, she ultimately realizes that real happiness is built on truth.

 

An anchor for others and a level-headed leader. She's sweet as can be, but ain't sugarcoating the facts. It's Applejack!!

 

Honestly, it doesn't matter if this encourage votes against Celestia....it doesn't even matter who wins this tournament. It's a wonderful chance to reflect on what makes each character so special to us and what others see in them.

 

If we come to appreciate them even more, I'd say we've all won.

Was hoping for a royal rumble, but now it's a battle that's all too familiar. To put in my 2 bits, I think AJ is going to triumph over Dash, but in the end, lose to the sweetest pegasi of them all!

Rainbow Dash is unfortunately my least favorite wielder of the Elements of Harmony so she doesn't get my vote. I don't even know why she is so popular amongst the fans.

It is so ridiculous that the Elite 8 is going to be the Mane Six, one of the CMC....and either Derpy or Vinyl, the two most obnoxiously overrated background characters in the history of television. The worst part is that they're going to be up against Pinkie Pie, and she might lose thanks to the huge fan following of two characters with basically no character development or lines. This is like one of the security guards who is always standing in the background on Star Trek winning a best Trek character poll.

Yesterday was bittersweet as I love both Luna and Fluttershy pretty much the same. Either way, I would be happy for the winner and upset for the loser. I am a little sad that Fluttershy had so many more votes than Luna. I would have been happy had that one been closer. As for Apple Bloom, though, I'm ready to see her off this bracket. After beating Discord like that..Kinda crazy. But upsets do happen, I guess lol

 

Anyway for today:

Rainbow Dash: This was a coin toss. I don't care much for either character as I don't relate too much to either one. 

Applejack: This was an easy pick over Tia. Applejack is a much more fun character. Hard working and honest to a fault, Applejack was my favorite over Tia today.

LOVERS OF DERPY, I BECKON YOU, TO ME, TO ME!!!  Hear me my brothers, my sisters, one and all!  When 2014 has come and gone, I swear that it shall be remembered as the Year of the Derp (by a small slice of an Internet subculture comprised of fans of a show about talking ponies, but hey, that's still something)!  That starts here... OK not really, considering DHX has already blown our minds this year with Derpy-awesomeness, but it... continues... here... yeah.  Anyways, we have two big tournaments coming up for our favorite mailmare.  Derpy already had a fantastic start in the qualifying rounds of the MLP Forums World Cup, most notably when she blew Princess Celestia out of the water.  Let's build off of that momentum and continue Derpy's winning streak, carrying her forward to victory!  The first year of the MLP Forums March Mandess Tournament, Derpy made it all the way to the Final Four.  I wholeheartedly believe that we can surpass that record this year, taking Derpy to not only the Championship, but winning the whole kit-and-kaboodle altogether.  But to do so, we're gonna need the best of effort from each and every one of you!  We've got some tough match-ups almost guaranteed right away: Queen Chrysalis, Vinyl Scratch or Granny Smith, more than likely 2012 champion Pinkie Pie herself if Derpy gets to the Sweet Sixteen.  But together, the Derpy Horde is nigh unstoppable!!!

 

SO GATHER 'ROUND, MY BRETHREN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Being, well, me, I wholeheartedly approve this and am equally devastated that it is not so.  BATBRONY WANTS TO SLAP YA'LL SILLY, IS THAT SO MUCH TO ASK?!?!?!?!?! 

 

 

 

Oh I'm sure AJ will have no trouble at all getting past Princess Celestia (sorry Celly).  I'll also say this SC, if it comes down to AJ vs. RD, I'll probably end up voting for our favorite cowpony (sorry DF), mostly because RD won it all last year (so yeah, nothing against her personally, it's just I need some way to choose between the two of 'em, it's just so hard to pick when it comes to Mane 6 match ups!).

 

 

I personally think that Angel Bunny is a bit under-seeded, as he could easily give Sweetie Belle a run for her money.  Vinyl seems a bit over-seeded just because she's most likely going to go up against Granny Smith in the Round of 32, and Granny Smith could quite realistically beat out Vinyl Scratch that early on.  As for snubbed characters, I really do think that maybe Lightning Dust should've been included in the tournament over one of many Season 4 characters who've been included.

Oh, rest assured, I know all about that. I'm probably one of the biggest Rocky fans you'll meet on these boards. Used "Eye of the Tiger" for a post last year. Had Flutters fell to Luna again you would have seen me posting "No Easy Way Out" to console myself.

For one thing, don't be so sure. If I was a fan of Pinkie Pie or Twilight, seeing a CMC knock off Discord would have me sweating bullets right now. If Apple Bloom can do that, why can't Sweetie Belle or Scootaloo win this round? If I remember correctly, all of them put up pretty good fights against Discord and the Mane Six last year.

 

For another... don't hate, man. Derpy and Vinyl are cool. No red shirt ever dropped sick beats like Vinyl or delivered mail quite like Derpy.

*deep breath* Friendship is magic, friendship is magic, friendship is magic... let's just say I for one do not like seeing Derpy, or any characters from the show really, being described as "obnoxiously overrated" (though to be fair I myself will not understand the fascination that a large part of the fandom seems to have for Diamond Tiara).  I certainly don't think there's anything "obnoxious" about the fondness I have for Ms. Hooves.  If anything, I think it's quite admirable when people find lovable qualities in not-so-obvious characters, those who don't get the bulk of screen time.  After all, wouldn't this be an awfully boring fandom if everyone's favorite ponies were the Mane 6 and the Mane 6 alone?  Besides, upsets are a part of the real NCAA tournament; kinda fitting that they happen here as well now and again, and who doesn't love a good upset?

Poor Sweetie Belle is basically dead with this match-up. At least one of her fellow CMC's going into the next round!

 

(That being said, I voted for Pinkie. She's gotten infinitely more likeable to me in Season 4.)

 

I voted for Vinyl. I loved that Rainbow Rocks promo of her, she's the inspiration for a lot of great fan music, I could see her become a secondary character for an episode, and, well... derpy tends to have a little bit of bad blood with AJ fans.
