When I see the show,gazing up wild-eyed from my pitiful,short existence in this cruel,uncaring world full of hate,misery,and death,I see more then a bunch of bright cartoon figures dancing about being happy. I see real,thinking,feeling people going through life,tackling their problems seriously,with help from their closest friends. Developed,lifelike characters that feel real. That I wish were real! That we could all only dream were real. We wish we could be there,among our friends. Living life as joyfully and wondrous as they do,but dealing with real problems we all go through,but only to helped and comforted by those that we welcome,not only as our friends,but as family. When I see the show,I feel joy. Jealousy. Hate. Sorrow. Alone. Cold. The very reality that our world cannot be like Equestria,with it's denizens living happily among us,is enough to drive a man into his very soul,to judge himself,and others,with the same inspection that we give to the Mane Six,the background ponies,and all others from this gleaming light of love and tolerance shining through our bleak,abysmal existence,and know that,as much as we love the show,it's characters,and it's message,our world cannot be the same. They are the light,we are the darkness. We live in the shadow of their world of joy,love,comfort. A world of sorrow,hate,and death. To add my answer to this question,I feel depression.

I think that this kind of topic rides close to a line that is kind of dividing among the users. Is Equestria a better place than Earth?

 

I've noticed that people have very different opinions about that. Well, we are all watching the same show and to be honest, I don't think that Equestria is perfect, some sort of utopia where everyone is entitled to be happy and live a perfect life that some other fans make it out to be. At the same time some people instead of talking about the show, or a fictional Equestria outright dismiss the idea that Equestria would be a better place simply because they are humans and then Earth trumps Equestria.

 

There is also another variable in this: people take their own living experiences very seriously. So, of course someone that has lived a cold, merciless, and most likely, lonely life. I'm quite young yet, with my 33 years now, but I put myself in this category. I look ate people and I see selfishness. Not that people do that intentionally, they just think that they are doing what is right for them so that they can survive. And them there is of course those glaring, blatant examples of human douchebaggery you can see everyday most of the time someone thinks he has the upper hand in anything.

 

Damn, I'm rambling a lot, but it is because I want to justify the way I feel. Hell yes, I think that Equestria would be a better place if it existed and I would be jealous of it's inhabitants. Because even if they have most of the same problems we have on our planet, because the show is idealized it radiates the feeling that it is better than our life on this Earth. There, they have the right tools to face these problems. The very magic nature of everything in the show gives off an aura of wonder that is just missing in the day to day life in here. At the very least, I sure would like to live in a place where you have this education system that encourages you to find what is it that is special about you and then pursuit it and find a way to live off of it. Satisfaction seems almost granted if you just reach for it.

 

So I guess i feel longing.

I dont really know anymore. The person who started watching MLP is nothing that is watching it now. 

I doubt past me would even recognize self. In a good way ofc. 

 

Also, you seem to have.. quite a bad outlook on life. I think you should get out your comfort zone more. 

Our world is beautiful, rich and caring too, if you know how and where to look.

Sadness, Interest, and it does make me feel better when in a bad mood. The ponies are so cute that it's kind of hard not to smile at them, especially Pinkie Pie and Twilight Sparkle.

Eh, I pity you. 

You comfort zone? Truth? Are you sure it's truth? How can you tell? Ever heard of brain in a vat thought experiment? 

Life is a ride, I dont care if I die tomorrow or never. I just can see the beauty in colors, shapes and my ideas, thoughts and feelings. 

And my tulpas of course. 

 

Life is terrible, 85% of our thoughts is about worries. The reason is it makes us survive.

A happy and content person has a low survive-ability rate compared to someone who worries and plans out their life.

 

This doesn't mean that life don't have it's positive sides though.

 

I become happy watching the show, because it reminds me about this. Life has it's good sides.

After watching the show, I have been more active is searching for these good sides.

I surround myself with what I like and avoids things I don't like. What I mean by this is that I spread joy, and I force myself to don't worry about small stuff.

 

Like when i'm lying in bed, and you might be familiar with all the negative thoughts that comes along.

I just brush them off as unimportant, because that's who I were before, not today.

I'm tomorrows myself, now. So everything is different  :lol:

 

 

EDIT

tl;dr: You brain gives you negative feelings to control you life for survival. In today's world most of these are unnecessary, so don't focus on them.

It means you are already good at blocking out negative inputs from your body.

Gives more time to relax, be yourself and focus on the small things in life.

I'm happy for your finding. I'm actually at what I could call "my last down".

I feel really close to achieving full understanding, but i'm currently feeling down.

Thinking about the meaning with life, and more importantly; my reason for life.

 

I feel like when i'm over this last obstacle, I'm free of negative influence.

I just need to find this last solution, but i'm already good on my way ;)

It just occurred to me that the whole reason why I made this post is because I didn't take my daily dose of happiness yesterday,but now I'm all rainbows and sunshine and pinkie pie! Yeah! Well,I never meant for this post to become a hot spot for philosophy,but.... meh. Never hurt anyone.

When I am experiencing the show itself, I often feel pity, sympathy, and hopefulness for the characters as they deal with conflicts, both external and internal.  Occasionally it is disgust or confusion if the writing somehow makes me less sympathetic or hopeful for the characters, but fortunately that is a rare occurrence.

 

If I am merely recalling the show, I feel a certain bit of whimsy about it, which is usually happy but different insofar as I reflect on its playfulness or inventiveness.  I also feel wistful in a way that I am a bit sad that I am not experiencing it now and also when I reflect on the merits of a particular episode.

 

But happiness is still a predominant emotion that it evokes in me.
