Glenn Beck Comes in Defense Of Bronies

For people who haven't heard about this yet, I'm sure they're reading the title and thinking "How in the wide wide world of Equestria can this be the right forum for this?"  Trust me, I'm completely lucid when I type this.

So, in case you somehow haven't heard yet, a school recently decided to tell a 9-year-old boy that he couldn't bring his MLP bag to school anymore.  The reasoning is that, and I quote:

 

 

Last week, Grayson’s school asked him to leave his Rainbow Dash bag at home, because officials felt it was a distraction and a “trigger for bullying.”

 

 

Of course, that sentiment alone is dubious.  I understand it to some degree, but at the same time I don't think the actions taken will help too much.  The school already knows he's a brony.  They're probably going to bully him just as hard with or without the backpack.

 

Anyway, there's a bit of exposition for ya.  Now we can get to the part where Glenn Beck comes in.  Just today Glenn Beck released a video offering support to Grayson.

Now, granted Beck does veer off into unnecessary tangents a few times, the first time being about "diversity and political correctness" and the second about Jerimiah Wright, but he doesn't dwell on them much.  I can forgive that because I know Beck is a very political guy who's not afraid to voice his opinions, and he was speaking off the cuff.  Even then he didn't let his unrelated political thoughts dominate the conversation, so good for him.

I have to say, Glenn Beck is the last person I expected to hear chime in on this story.  Even more surprising to me personally is the fact that the message is positive.  Honestly hearing this put me in a pretty good mood, and I only hope that the white knights and/or brony haters of the Internet don't turn this heartfelt message into their own personal chew toy.  Then again, that's probably wishful thinking because people are terrible.

Wow I have new found respect for Glenn Beck. Check this video out. He does have a very large audience and if he could come in defense of the bronies.I think this will help our image. I am glad to see people like Glenn Beck having an open mind.

I'm honestly torn on where to stand here. I like the points he made here and just taking this on it's own it's positive, but knowing what I do about the man I have to wonder if he's just doing this for good publicity. 

 

I'm also afraid it being defending or "condoned" by someone with such a reputation is going to get us further mocked. 

 

I honestly just do not know what to think of all this.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure he's sincere, because this actually does line up politically with his beliefs.

 

The fact that it draws attention to Glenn and allows him to stretch his fading relevance out a little bit longer, is however an added bonus for him.

I really think getting anything close to happy about this, is foolish. Glenn Beck is an attention whore, and is just doing this for attention like anything else. The idiot would side with monkies holding pitchforks, if it got him attention. He doesn't give a crap about either side, he's just trying to stir the pot.

Lets just hope this isn't the only person begging to speak about real diversity. Heres to hoping that whatever comes of this, it sparks a wake up of the american people. That we can be different without silencing the opposition.

Being more conservative leaning, I've listened to Glenn and Rush for years. I've heard what they've said in the past about us. Hell, I thought the same way before I gave it a chance. If I can change my stubborn mind, why couldn't Glenn? I'm sure he's not so much supporting Bronies as much as he's supporting our right to like whatever the hell we want and damn what others think.

I just think that if people put politics aside and learn to at least listen to different points of view, then everyone can get along. Politics can bring out the worst in people.

You know, Glenn and I stand on completely opposite political ideals; I dislike him as a journalist and I cheered when he left the air... but it was really nice to see him give that kid his support. I still dislike him as a journalist, but it's nice to know he has has a heart somewhere through the political smoke.

This right here, is actually a very good deed, I don't really know Glenn Beck, but defending that kid seems generous to me.
