Yes, I just asked that.

No really. Here, on these forums, they seem different from in real life. Here, they almost seem similar to the "Like" system on Facebook. But I've gotten random brohooves on comments or things, and I don't know why. And why the tracker for how many you've gotten? If you have a lot, does it mean something?

In real life, I've experienced them as a one-time greeting from other Bronies, but nothing consistent. So, what are your experiences with brohooves and what do you think they are? Or is there a set meaning?

On here it is the same as the "like" button on facebook, the amount of brohoofs you have dosen't really count for anything other than bragging rights. The term "bro hoof" comes from the term "bro fist" aka fist bump and that is pretty much what it is.

Having a lot means you're popular!

In reality it just means you happened to say the right thing to garner people's attention. So yes, it is Facebook Likes.

So far I haven't seen anyone trying to "like-bait" but I could be wrong. I'm not around enough to see that sort of stuff.

They are...They are a better version of Facebook likes /)

...

.....

.........

Give me a brohoof

 I just got done posting about not seeing any "like-bait" and you went and posted that. Well played.

Yeah, like others have said, the real life brohoof is just your standard fist tap.

Here it is the equivalent of Facebook's likes.  The forum uses IPB software which has a like button and a green like counter as standard features.  Site owners can change the word "like" to anything they want so Feld0 decided to give us brohoofs instead.  :)

I saw it happen on here once, but it wouldn't surprised me if it has happened on another occasion or two as well.

Its similar to "Facebook Likes".   Yet, like Scoot said, its also a slang way of giving someone/somepony a fist bump.  :D

It's a like system. You can give them to anypony on the forum if you like their post.

There are two versions:

1. The brony equivalent of a fist bump.

2. The brony equivalent of a "Like", it's like you're fist bumping someone because you agree with what they just posted. I'm pretty sure this version came first.

Hope that answered your question!

Yo! I'm Shenron00, but you can call me “Shen” if you want!

Thanks to WheatleyCore for the sig! BTW, yes, I do realize that's Carnage and not Shenron.

Thanks, that all helps. But what about in real life? Is there any profound meaning there, or is it just a greeting. I mean, I've brohoofed a couple people when they figured out I was a Brony, but that was a one time thing. Is it supposed to be like a consistent thing, or just a one-time deal?

Fun fact: I was using Ponify and I was getting so frustrated when people were saying things like "Brony equivalent of a brohoof" and "it's a slang word for brohoof". Whoops...

On the forums, it depends on the context of the thread. It could be a like, an expression of agreement, a way of saying "me too" or "thanks", etc. Pretty much it is a multipurpose, context-based response usable in situations where a response doesn't merit being typed as its own post.

In real life it can be a way of greeting other bronies, expressing appreciation for Pony related content, or any situation where you would use and wish to ponify a fistbump.

That's really up to you. It can mean a greeting, it can mean the same thing as a high five, whatever you want it to be.

The thing that annoys me is when people go through their own topics and brohoofs anyone who posts in the topic. It's like....I don't know if you're brohoofing cuz I said something good or just because I posted.

With what I said on this topic already being said, this is what my idea of a brohoof is! :P
