Your funeral - How do you want it?

I've always said that I've wanted to be cremated so that I can have my ashes compressed into some sort of stone that can decorate a statuette of a nine tailed fox. If I have a family at the time of my death, then the statuette can remain in the home to protect and watch over them. As for an actual funeral, the default would be a Buddhist funeral for me. Outside of that. I'm not sure what I'd really want.

I've never really liked the idea of a big funeral procession teeming with people who met me once and only went out of pity. My parents used to drag me along to funerals of people I barely knew, and I always hated seeing all the people who just mill around without actually wanting to be there or caring about the person who died.

I've always wanted a small funeral, with only about five people (assuming I don't outlive the few people who mean anything to me). Probably just my sister, my childhood friend, and three or four friends from high school. Something simple. A few words from anyone who wants to speak, then just stick me in the ground and bury me. Maybe play some music. I've always liked this song and I can see it being played at a funeral.

I understand respecting the dead, but tbh I don't really need that for myself. Have a celebration of life or something and don't really worry about my now vacated vessel. Just toss me out in the woods when I die and let nature take care of things.

The physical being is a vehicle for this lineage. We don't perceive it as ourselves, but a transient expression. We don't allow excess in polarization.

And so we can exit it with ease, taking awareness beyond the organic boundaries. Which is pretty much like dying.

For our family there's only knowledge, which means absence of belief. So, no ritual or ceremony would be necessary, simply give the body back to earth.

Whatever my family wants, it won't even matter because I'm dead.

Whether I have a funeral or not doesn't bother me, considering that my family will have control over it.

At first I rejected the zero, but that was because I simply didn't understand it. Now I do.

I do not want to be mourned, I want my family and friends to party till they drop and be happy. Then I want to be cremated with my ashes scattered in secret around a little spot I have picked out at Disneyland.

I think that I want to do what my grandmother did. She was creamated and had a short service in which family came to view her ern. I don’t want my body to be viewable in a casket.

I'd like it to be upbeat, with people remembering all the good times instead of mourning. While I think funerals are inevitably sad to some extent, I think there's enough of that in the days and weeks following the loss of a loved one, even without a ceremony focusing on this. Of course, whether that will happen is up to others, but that's how I'd like it to be. :rarity:

I’ve been told being cremated is cheaper so I’d want to be cremated. I don’t want the people I care about worrying about expenses.
