  1. I would want to be an earth pony, for sure. Something about the humble, modest but strong and sturdy living is very appealing to me.
  2. I just got the two-pack with White Celestia and what must be my ninth Pinkie Pie...I could complain about Hasbro repackaging the main six in absolutely everything, but hey! They finally got Celestia right!
  3. It may vary by your location - some areas or stores may have weird, crappy distribution or only get certain characters in a case. But generally, the entire main six are everywhere and painfully easy to find, and impossible to avoid. Mostly because every single wave of brushable has had at least some of the main six in it (if not all), and they're thrown in to almost every multi-pony pack so that you have to buy your 137th Pinkie Pie to get a white Celestia, or some other ridiculous nonsense like that :') But yeah, the main six shouldn't be too hard to find!
  4. I was able to convert my ex into a brony, although it was really easy - he was already in to internet fad-like things. But htat relationship was really shaky and kinda stupid, so that didn't last long :') My current boyfriend comes from a family that would mock him ruthelessly and call him gay, fag, etc. for liking soemthing like ponies. Nevertheless though, I've been able to get him to watch the show, and now he loves it He insists on watching new episodes with me. He doesn't like to call himself a brony, though. But he's become much more open when it comes to gender issues and preconcieved notions. And he sorta uses me as an excuse for why he likes it - he's just trying to connect with me through a shared interest, guys! Yeah, right But they've overall accepted it. His sister even gets him pony stickers or figures that she finds, to give to me. I do come across a number of pony fans in college (but maybe going to an art school helps!), and I've been surprised by long-time friends who suddenly start spamming pony pictures on facebook :'D
  5. I've always tried to follow the principle behind it. It's a good, healthy way to treat others. But I don't really need a fandom and its overstated motto to guide me. It's about being a good person, not a good brony.
  6. I feel you! I'm the exact same way. I've actually started collecting G1s, because the toys have so much more variety, quality, and personality. And they more closely resemble real ponies, which is always nice
  7. Oh, most definitely when I went to Japan, in 2001. I was born there and half my family is there, but we came to America very early on and I've always been rather sad that I've sort of lost my connection to my mother country. But this trip was super cool, I was only nine. We were there a month and stayed with our family and my mom's friends, and it was just great. I loved being with the family that I never get to see, and Japan was just so fun and pretty and colorful to a little girls' eyes. I think everyone has a vacation that they will remember for the rest of their lives, and that trip back to Japan is mine.
  8. My name's always mispelled, but I don't mind at all. I actually love to see the variations people come up with, haha. But I'm sympathetic since I know it's a little tricky, and heck I probably always mispell others' naes anyway.
  9. Twilight Sparkle: Lesson Zero Rainbow Dash: Sonic Rainboom Rarity: It's tough...a tie between Suited for Success and Sisterhooves Social, but I think SIsterhooves Social wins here Applejack: Apple Family Reunion Fluttershy: Hurricane Fluttershy Pinkie Pie: Griffon the Brush Off
  10. As a fellow asian, I just have to say those rice crackers are amazing! I especially love the assortments with the tiny little dried fish in them.
  11. Thanks very much you guys, for the warm welcomes! I'm rather liking this place so far - I've already gone and babbled on a few threads, haha. And some cider sure does sound nice right now!
  12. Sometimes. Sometimes my boyfriend insists on watching episodes together, which I always love, but I usually end up watching them on my own first because I need to see them right when they come out :'D So I end up rewatching a lot of episodes with him. But I constantly revisit my favorites, which are Applebuck Season, Suited for Success, a Dog and Pony Show, Sisterhooves Social, Sweet and Elite, Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000, and Apple Family Reunion. And...wow. Looking at that list, I just realized that only Rarity and Applejack episodes are in my favorites. I didn't think my tastes would be that predictable!
  13. My two favorite characters are Applejack and Rarity, it's a tie. I absolutely cannot choose between them. However, I suppose I'm just a fan of them both. I think they would make awesome friends! But, uh. I can't imagine any romantic feelings between us. I suppose it's for the best, though. I'm far too lazy for Applejack to tolerate me and I'm not quite fabulous enough for Rarity. C'est la vie! :'D
  14. Hiya, I suppose I wanna share a pony drawing that I've had in progress for...an embarrassingly long time :'D I started it back in December or so and I haven't touched it since. But I think I want to get it started again now. Anyway, here it is so far. I've used a regular mechanical pencil and a 2H graphite so far And plus, I have these two slightly older drawings I did that I still am just so dang proud of and can't help but show off These were also done with just a mech. pencil (HB) and 2H. For some reason I love to be very sparse with my materials in my pony drawings. I do not suggest doing this :'D So, hoefully I will be posting some actual new stuff soon. Thanks for looking!
  15. The show itself hasn't taught me anything, directly...but it made me want to collect the toys, which was an urge I was super super embarassed by. I was 18, and thought people should be done with playing with toys when they're like, 11. I did start buying the toys, but I was still really ashamed that I still wanted toys. But slowly I learned that nobody's ever "too old" for childish delights if it makes them happy! When I got to college I decided to embrace my rather strange quirk, and people here were super supportive of it. They think it's cute :'D And nobody acts like there's anything wrong with me collecting pony toys. My boyfriend is very supportive of it as well, and he loves that I collect toys because it makes me very happy. He even calls me up whenever he's at the store to see if I'm missing any of the ponies or dolls he found! Now my obsession's branched out to Monster High dolls in a fierce way, and other toys too. But Pony was the gateway drug for me, haha. Through my pony toy collection, I learned there's nothing wrong with pursuing a passion if it really does make me happy (and I have the finances for it, of course!), even if it's a childish one I just gotta be honest to myself, that this is a quirk of mine and there is nothing wrong with it.
  16. February 2011, I think? I remember it was right after the A Dog and Pony Show episode. My brother, who commonly trolls around 4chan and other internet places like that, told me about it, probably around late 2010, and he insisted I watch it. I thought that was the funniest thing ever, coming from him. But it's not like I felt that MLP was stupid or anything, that I didn't watch it. I was just so darned lazy :'D But eventually he came home for spring break and forced me to watch the episodes. Sat down one day and ran through all the ones that were out at the time. Instantly hooked. I so badly wanted a little Applejack figure after that. By the Spring I swallowed my pride and bought an AJ figure, and a Rarity for my brother. It took me a while to ease in to the community, though. I joined the MLP Arena in March 2011 because I was more interested in the actual show and the toys, than the brony fandom. But even though I liked previous genstoo, I felt like an outsider there because I didn't grow up with ponies so much like the members there - I started with G4. So in August I went to seek out a G4 forum, found the forums and rainbowdash.net. A very small, cozy little community there, love it But throughout this whole time, I never felt like I was a brony. In the beginning, I felt like bronies wouldn't want me in their group anyway :'D The big token was that they were older guys watching it, and I was a very (physically) small girl. Bronies told me that it's not a big deal that I like ponies, but it's super important that THEY like it. Of course, it's not totally like that now and it was probably a small minority of bronies that thought like that outright, but I still felt alienated because of it. And I've been more along the collector side of MLP that my interests in the franchise are very different from most bronies'. So yeah, I've been watching the show since Feb. 2011, but I don't quite call myself a brony
  17. I buy the brushable figures because I still am a tiny, easily-amused little girl at heart. I also buy the plushies, and sometimes the packs of three blindbag-sized ponies too But I am mostly buying G1 toys right now off the secondary market, there's so much more potential in them!
  18. I suppose my most valued pony monetary-wise is the SDCC Fashion Style Derpy, followed by my two Fashion Style Applejacks. But my most treasured pony...I don't know, I have too many that I love!! I do love my FS AJs, but I think I would have to go with G1 ponies for my favorites: SHS Flowerburst http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa126/carlotta-guidicelli/Ponies%20and%20dolls/Ponies/1506829989341.png (photo from the auction, not mine) and little Moonjumper http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa126/carlotta-guidicelli/774483_3567288519718_499715857_o_zps0db9ec48.jpg
  19. I definitely agree with those that think they'll be a whole bunch a fashion dolls. If you can't tell by my avatar, I am a HUGE Monster High fan I'm crazy about those silly-looking things. And Monster High is making big, big bucks right now. Twilight made horror story-esque/monster-like characters popular with the tween market, and Monster High cashed in on that. Now they've made a huge, huge impact in the playline fashion doll market, and it would be a huge loss of money for other companies not to take notice. MGA responded with the Bratzillas and Novi Stars, and there's plenty of smaller companies coming out with similar toys that range from vaguely-inspired-by to totaly ripoffs. Non-human humanoid dolls are totally in right now, and Hasbro wants to capitalize on that - lure in the girls who buy Monster Highs with human-ish versions of their favorite My Little Pony characters that would look great with their Monster gang. I personally am excited by this, I would love to have a Rarity doll to chill with my Monsters lol. But what I think what will be really, really important, is the quality. Monster High isn't only successful right now cause it's cashing in on the horror-theme trend in media, but they're leaving a lasting impression because they have really, really good quality, and Mattel is taking risks. Especially for something as accessible as a $20 playline toy. Multiple varied points of articulation, a completely unique facemold for each character and little quirks that emphasize their Monster-y roots or cultural origins (Spectra Vondergeist, the ghost, has see-through lower limbs; Frankie Stein has a large forehead, stitching patterns throughout her head and bolts on her neck, Rochelle Goyle the gargoyle has skin that's grey and flecked like stone, etc.). They are incredibly creative and quirky with great attention to detail. This is what Hasbro has been absolutely sucking at with their ponies recently. There were hundreds of different pony poses in G1, and plenty in G3! Why do we still only have two basic pony poses: one standing stock-still, and one with a raised hoof? And why is almost every brushable released now just another one of the main six? Blind bags are recolors of the same five characters (let's not even mention the hilarious absurdity of Fluttershy not getting her own mold until this year!). Mattel is making big bucks off Monster High right now, because they are taking huge risks with it. Just check out the MH doll Jinafire Long and tell me that's not one heck of a departure for a $20 fashion doll. But right now with ponies, Hasbro is alllll about playing it safe. If they don't take risks with this, this new line will be uninspired, dull, and won't do very well. I just bought a Bratzillas doll a few days ago because their inset glass eyes look gorgeous, but I was totally put off by the quality. Stiff, awkward joints and most definitely the worst quality doll hair I've ever seen. And, they're just uninspired. Exactly what you'd expect of a shallow fashion doll with sexual undertones, none of those tiny clever little quirks that Monster High has. Not much or creativity behind it. Looking at how Hasbro's been handling their pony toys, I really wouldn't be surprised if the Equestria Girls line will be like this. I don't believe Hasbro ever owned the rights to Bratz? I could be mistaken, but I was under the impression that Bratz had always belonged to MGA. There was a conflict between Mattel and MGA over the Bratz line though, but not Hasbro. I could be wrong though, and I apologize if I am! And I think the boycotting thing is just a bit silly. You can simply just not watch it and not pay attention to it if you don't like it. Bronies has been making Hasbro a pretty nice profit, but I don't think they have as much buying power as some bronies may like to think. And like it's been said, this is meant for young and tween girls, not bronies! Boycotting something that isn't even meant for you is pointless and rude - this implies you want to negatively impact the sales of this line, which you could easily ignore because it's not meant for you. Raising a big stink and trying to get it to fail would only hurt those that may actually like it - little girls, the ones that it's actually meant for. Just ignore it and move on
  20. Ohh gosh, I see way too much of this kind of thing! :'D I personally hate it when people bring up the "anything can be art!!!" argument to justify work that the artist put little to no effort in, has no ultimate goal or purpose, and shows no craftsmanship. It's too easy and obnoxious a cop-out. No, let your efforts and your end result speak for you, not a painfully open point of argument that's been pressed by much more qualified people since the 1500's. Oh, another thing. I'm in a college dorm, and I hate it when people do not clean up after themselves. It was the sickest thing, but obviously someone was "on the rag", and, uh...leaking all over the bathroom. It was all over the shower. God, do you really have that little respect for other people??? I don't want to have to clean your...stuff up, eew. I would have also put people who don't clean their hair out of the shower before they leave, but that complaint has really paled in comparison to the previous one. I do not mind that nearly as much now. And, I hate cucumbers. Those things taste nasty.
  21. I used to hate my name, Jocelyn, as a kid. I hated that it was different from the normal names, and I just wanted to be something like Emily or Katie. But now I've grown to like it, and I'm glad that there's not many opportunities for me to get confused with someone else And the many ways people would misspell it used to annoy me too, but now I'm more amused by it.
  22. This is actually the first time I've used this as a username. I think I did some fun little polling thing online a few weeks back and had to have a unique name attached to my submission ticket, so...I don't know, this was just some random thought. But I actually like it :'D I've also been rather unoriginal on other forums, and have just been using my first name, Jocelyn. Another one is carlotta-guidicelli, which I've been using since I was twelve. I was just really into Phantom of the Opera, and the big pompous prima donna waas my favorite character But yeah, no real reasoning behind Powderpuff! Maybe someday I'll come up with some crazy introspective explanation for it, but right now it's just "lol I dunno".
  23. I personally run through strawberries, cherry tomatoes and grapes like nobody's business. Raspberries are another vice, but they can easily stain so I think that may go under too messy. And right now it's Girl Scout cookies season, so I'm really favoring me some thin mints...
  24. Right from the beginning? Applejack! She's exactly the kind of person (uhh....pony, I suppose) that I would love to have as a friend - honest, straight-to-the-point, helpful and reliable. She's a simple but very smart and stable character, and I really do respect those types of personalities. That, and she's pulled straight outta G1. That kinda gave me a bit of a biasfor her, right there
  25. Well, I just joined so I suppose naturally the first thing for me to do is make one of these posts :'D I've been watching and loving the show since February 2011. I don't wana call myself a pegasister and I don't think I'm a brony, but still love FiM and the fandom is interesting. I frequent the MLPArena and some other smaller pony forums, but I suppose I'm looking for a more active, larger place to talk about cute, colorful ponies. I'm more along the collecting side of the community - I love finding G1 toys! So I'm a huge fan of the previous gens, but completely in the toy sense...not so much about the shows or movies. So I'm probably more interested in the merch aspect of the community, though I do love discussions about the show as well. I'm a japanse-american, currently on the East Coast USA for school. I'm an art student, currently going for a major in Fine Arts, minor in illustration. My drawings are up on deviantart under the username carlotta-guidicelli if you're interested in seeing my stuff, although my recent submissions are far from my best work. I haven't done too much pony work, but I have done a series of pony "bust"-like portraits in graphite pencil. Thinking of possibly doing more of those in the future, too. Anyway, yeah I kinda feel like I just threw up a bunch of jumbled things about myself into this poor textbox :'D But I look forward to hopefully getting to know a few of you, and navigating these forums a bit!
