Actually, I think the first big case of a plush maker getting a C&D was WhiteDove creations, who churned out an insane amount of plushes on ebay, each one easily going for thousands of dollars. The small-time plush makers and artists are fine and Hasbro usually ignores them, but once they start to bring in the big bucks it becomes an issue. That, and when it has a mass-produced aspect to it - Hashbro's 3D prints, for example. But yeah, OP is totally right. Hasbro wants us blasted off this planet. They just hate the fact that we're spreading their brand name around like the hottest new thing! The last thing they want is free press. And, god, we keep on buying their toys. That's really gotta grind their gears.

I'm 4'7" and my weight fluctuates between 80 and 95 pounds - higher when I'm back home from college for the summer (like, right now). My mom does not take 'no' for an answer, as far as food is concerned I still buy clothes from the childrens' section! It's great, cause it's usually cheap. Although sometimes I get bummed, because I would occasionally like to look more mature / look closer to my age and actually be taken seriously.

Powderpuff replied to Apple Bloom's topic in Merchandise
I won a good amount of money at a casino last week, so I've kinda been spending it on ponies since :'D I bought the deluxe version of the EG Rainbow doll and the mini figure set with the Cakes from Target. Today I made a Rainbow at Build a Bear (they were out of Spike :'( ) and found the Funko Lyra and Pinkie Pie. I didn't even know they were out yet, so that was a great surprise. The Pinkie was even the glittery one- 4,331 replies

Whoah, I love your style! It reminds me of a more sophisticated version of the G1 art. It's so lively, they jump off the paper. II think this sketch was totally successful

I recently started sketching some pony again, so I kinda wanna show my progress so far This first one, I both started and abandoned back in December. I picked it back up a few days ago and did the gradation in the background, as well as that little bit of Sweetie. Poor Rarity was left staring uncertainly at an open void for the better half of a year. And then this one, I started soon after cause I was beginning to get bored of the above And, since I'm just kinda throwing art out here, I might as well slip these in too. I went to a sci fi convention about a month ago and spent a good amount of time drawing ponies in crayon on the back of coloring pages. I only took one home with me, but I have a (very very bad) pic of three of them. There was one of Rainbow as well, but I don't have a picture of hers. And, well...that's all I got for now

I'm currently with someone, a very incredible and special someone. We've been together for near two years now, but we're really quite serious. He's incredibly respectful, thoughtful and intelligent, and has no issue with sharing his sensitivity. Though he is also very confident and comfortable with himself. He's just so great with people, too. He's really great at making friends, even strangers. My past experiences with boys and relationships were, uh...awkward. I don't think I'm super attractive, I think I'm about average-ish. I've had some guys show interest in me when they see me, but the second I get cornered into a conversation their interest suddenly wanes. I turn into an absolute idiot when I talk - I blank on things to say, so I end up awkwardly not talking at all or just giving some painfully generic, boring response that I don't even agree with. So the only people that actually get to "know" me beyond that "quiet chick" are the very few incredibly close friends I have/had, who happened to all be female. I am so thankful that my current guy saw all that, understood it and gave me the time and space to really grow comfortable around him. And now, I'm closer to him than I have ever been to anyone else, and we can both be our very own real selves around each other. I see guys saying that they wanna have a girlfriend, but all the girls around them are either in a relationship or are slutty/a whore. I was a quiet, shy girl that couldn't hold a conversation who stood in the background while boys would complain that girls were never interested in "nice guys" like them. There is probably at least one quiet, shy girl around, who just wants someone to notice her, but may grow lonely cause the only one that would give her a passing glance is the quiet, shy boy who is too nervous to take the initiative.

Graphite is actually just a fancy word for pencils Not colored pencils, just the black and white stuffs. You can get them in leads of different harnesses too, which can affect the values you are capable of doing with that pencil - harder leads creates lighter values, and softer ones creates darker ones. For most (all?) of my pony drawings, I use just a regular no.2, HB pencil, which is right in the middle of the hardness spectrum, sometimes a 2H, which is a little harder/lighter, and occasionally a 7H - super hard pencil that creates reaaallly fine value transitions. Not only can you get very light shades with the harder pencils, but I've noticed that using them in a particular way can actually really "deepen" the appearance of a shadow if you layer it on top of a value done with a softer lead. But to answer your other question, yes I am currently attending art school, am now a junior going for a degree in Fine Arts with a minor in Illustration I was self taught up until two years ago, when I went to this school and it's crazy how quickly the insights from actual professional artists can help to improve your work! I think I was getting to a point where I had learned as much as I could on my own, and things were getting stale. This school really has been helping me refresh things and realize that there is so much I don't know, and will not know for a very, very long time!

Thanks! Um, I think it's super important to have good, strong knowledge of how to handle whatever material you're using. Like, I've been drawing in graphite since 2005, so I have a strong grasp on the material and how to manipulate it. And, uh, also study how light and shadow visually create the shape/form of the object you are looking at. Like, all I did for years was draw from real life and photos of real people (which, looking back, I would probably really advise against - drawing from photos), so now I'm taking all the different lighting situations I kinda picked up from drawing realistically, and applying it to a super-simplified base (ponies)! Which does have a kinda creepy, uncanny-valley feel... Hm, uh I think I mostly just rambled and probably said general stuff that wasn't very helpful, so sorry about that...If there's something specific you wanna know, I can try my best to answer any other questions! ^^; And so this isn't just a big block of rambling text, here's one of my latest *finished* pony drawing (done last January...yeah I need to stop being so lazy...). Rarity really works well for this style cause it has a naturally cinematic feel, and she's best drama pony

Those bobbleheaded ones are actually the Funko Pop! figures, part of the Pop! line. The really show accurate vinyls aren't actually the Pop! figures, they're just Funko vinyl figures, I believe. I'll surely get at least all of the main six in the regular vinyl form, but I'll probably give the Pop! figures a pass since they decided that my two favorites (Rare and AJ) aren't cool enough to be in the main six

Luna Help Us, There's Knock-Off Blind Bags Now.
Powderpuff replied to FoxyCryptid's topic in Merchandise
Yeah I think these have been around for longer than blindbag ponies. They may possibly be more inspired by the G3/3.5 Ponyville figurines...Although, a number of toy companies do the cheap 'blindbag' toys, and fantasy ponies are barely an exclusively Hasbro thing. I think they're kinda cute and I like that they have flocking too, but I don't think I would spend money on them! -
This is one I've had in progress for an ungodly amount of time. As in, I haven't touched it since December I may stop being lazy and finish it soon...eventually...maybe D:

[OFFICIAL] Equestria Girls Trailer
Powderpuff replied to Sanic Screwdriver's topic in Equestria Girls
I'm still staying cautiously optimistic with this. This trailer was really pretty short and didn't really reveal too much. It had a few possibly worrying aspects, all of which I expected (possible romance, popularity issues, prom queen kinda thing, a queen bee, etc.) but there were also some cute moments. And those strange wings, ears and facial tattoos are gone now, yay! This could very well be like the Monster High webisodes, which, well...bless them, but they are really rather shallow, encouraging unhealthy body images and the generic, catty stereotypes of "girlhood" that young girls are simply awash with. All while spouting an on-the-surface, white-washed message of "Be yourself! Be unique! Be a monster!" , "everyone has their own freaky flaws, that's just what makes them their own fabulous monster!"...yeah, sure, but only if they've got a waist thinner than your eyes, giggle and talk about boyfriends every other minute, wear heels even when rollerskating, are focused on always being drop-dead gorgeous, are totally fashion-obsessed, have a real dainty and skinny figure, are one of the popular girls, etc., etc., etc.). Sometimes the message is actually sincere and there are clever little bits, but as a whole, the episodes are...yeah... Ah, maybe I shouldn't have complained about Monster High...now it's harder to remain optimistic about this XD But I want to believe this will be better than the Monster High webisodes! (Which, aren't actually that bad if you watch them knowing full well what they are.) My Little Pony has always been a wholesome brand, I think, and I would like to hope they would not stray from that too terribly just for a quick buck. When Faust was developing FiM, she wanted to create something that empowers girls, not confines them in a tight little box full of typical high school drama...I would like to think some of that drive for creating girly media that's quality and healthy still exists in the creative team behind Equestria Girls. And, if they do? Eh, no skin off my bones. I would still buy the dolls anyway I would feel a little disappointed because it would just be another example of the kinda generic, stereotype-ridden media kids consume way too much of. But if I don't like it I will just ignore it. There will still be the main show, which will remain the good old Pony we all know and love. Edited a billion times for grammar stuffs.- 214 replies

Let's talk about positive Brony public experiences.
Powderpuff replied to An Old Head's topic in Sugarcube Corner
I've had some peers give me brohoofs or get into a conversation about FiM from seeing the crystal Rainbow Dash keychain I have on my school ID. Also, another girl who is surprisingly enough a pegasister (what she calls herself) who I've gotten to be friends with, through pony talk and being in a very small class of like, six people for a semester. I personally have not had any negative experiences directed toward me due to me liking My Little Pony. I've run across some, ah...less than perfect examples of overly enthusiastic bronyism run rampant, but never anyone that's had a bad or not-nice reaction to me liking the show I don't have the time now, but I gotta bookmark this thread so I can come back and read everyone's responses! I love stories like these. -
About The Looks of the Humanised Girls
Powderpuff replied to Mushy Giant Friend's topic in Equestria Girls
The only thing I really don't like about their designs is the whole wings/no horn issue. Either have both or have none at all...The inconsistency is confusing o.O But otherwise, I really like the look of these But I'm more looking forward to the dolls than the movie. The clothes and bad fashion choices don't bother me - I'm hoping that the dolls will be able to fit other fashion dolls' clothing, so that if I don't like the stuff they come with I can just swap it out for Monster High or Barbie fashions And the characters themselves look really adorable, but heck I've already sold my soul to MH so I guess that crazily super-cute, anorexic style is perfect for me. If the dolls look like these (which they very well may not...companies are usually pretty dang off with the artwork) then I'll be happy. I dunno, I'm optimistic for this -
Calling All Pegasisters/Female Bronies!
Powderpuff replied to Love*Potion's topic in Sugarcube Corner
I do feel really welcomed here, despite being a girl. I don't feel like I'm treated any differently? Although I haven't really paid attention to how the guys are being treated either :'D On pony forums, I just view everyone as gender neutral until they state otherwise. Usually things like avatars and signatures are good cues for gender, but heck when mostly everyone's got colorful ponies as avatars then I suppose it's kinda a free-for-all -
Anxiously awaiting Most Fabulous Pony and Applejack! Although I'm assuming they'll be the last of the main six to be made, like always Oh well, at least it's been confirmed that they will be made! Unlike the bobblehead-like POP! figures, which are gonna be a revised main cast: Twilight, Rainbow, Pinkie, Fluttershy, DJ P0n3 and Derpy :/

visual art Self portrait, practicing oil paints
Powderpuff posted a topic in Non-Pony Art & Creations
I wanna be a portrait artist, so being able to paint realistic skin tones is one of my goals...This is my first time playing with this new palette I'm still very much a beginner with oils, so I apologize for any, uh...roughness, and lack of subtlety ^^; Self portrait...at least there's always one model that's willing to sit and pose for me for hours D:- 4 replies

My best and only joke I keep on standby, I didn't even come up with myself. But it is still too good not to share at every opportunity. What did Batman say to Robin before they got in the Batmobile? A few people that have heard it could not get over how amazing it is. Unfortunately, most people hate me for it :'D But yeah, most of those instances where I'm randomly funny, I can't remember. At least, not off the top of my head. So unless the context throws one in my lap, I'll just have to sit back on my good ol' standby
-
The opposite of me? Well, hah. I would probably be very neat and organized. And efficient. And very productive! Shoot, I would get so much done :'D But really, I suppose I would be a super b*tch. I mean, I can be very critical and judgemental in my mind, but I just can't bear to hurt anyone, so I always keep critical thoughts to myself - other peoples' feelings are more important than my own. But I'm guessing Discorded me just wouldn't have that barrier. I suppose I would also be super cynical and paranoid, especially with other peoples' intentions. I sometimes do get very close to that, but my faith and optimism that people are better than my paranoia makes them out to be keeps me from going overboard. But yeah, that optimism would just fray with Discorded me.

I've probably had a million of these little (and big) incidents, but I can never remember any of them. There's only one that I can always recall off the top of my head. It was in kindergarten or first grade, and we were just coming in from recess and taking off our snow gear. My boot was stuck in my snow pants, so being the smart little kid I was, I tried to kick it off. It did come off, flew across the room and hit the boy I had been crushing on, right on the side of the head. I probably only remember this cause it happened so early that it imprinted itself in my memory forever :')
