  1. Per your b-day, you could've been born in the wrong generation. Which would've been far worse, trust me. (Goes back to playing Pong on his B&W television.)
  2. Fire and Ice - Robert Frost Some say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice. From what I've tasted of desire I hold with those who favor fire. But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate To say that for destruction ice Is also great And would suffice.
  3. If they aren't, those guys in prison with "love" and "hate" tattoed on their knuckles have some painful ink removal surgery in their futures...
  4. Pinkie. And now I like all of them. Always liked Rainbow Dash, too - but her character really took off for me when she stood up for the buffaloes. That was righteous.
  5. Very good song. Always reminds me of It's a Heartache by Bonnie Tyler. The first parts of both songs sound strikingly similar.
  6. I'm sure it's been mentioned previously, but Pinkie Pie is the embodiment of Warner Bros, Tex Avery, a little bit of Disney, and a lot of stuff which brought us to where we are today when it comes to animation. I think it's characters like hers which revived the medium from the brink of oblivion in the mid to late 80s. There's a little bit of Pinkie in The New Adventures of Mighty Mouse, Ren & Stimpy, Animaniacs, and in a lot of computer-animated shows and movies which followed. I don't think series like Batman: The Animated Series would've been nearly as popular without a character like Harley Quinn, who says, "Sneak, sneak, SNEAK!" out loud while the Dark Knight is trying to quietly survey a hideout. That's the sort of zaniness which breathed fresh life into newer cartoons, and acted as homage to the classics.
  7. Mr. Blue Sky - ELO It's a little late in the day for this one; I usually think of this as a morning song. But I'm slow to get up right now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DhFy4qZ0ah8
  8. When I talk about the show, it transcends the "Wow, that's weird you like MLP" and becomes "Wow - it's so strange that someone like you would enjoy MLP; now I'm really curious about it." So, that's kind of cool. I'm a writer, and if I get the opportunity to mention a show with good writers to people and evangelize them over Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, I'm helping to secure my spot in Writer's Heaven. (Which I'm assuming will have never-ending hard alcohol available.)
  9. I'd like to see an episode of Beyond Scared Straight where juvenile delinquents were marched into a prison classroom and forced to confront Fluttershy. We'd get to see her backstory, including a video of a riot breaking out earlier, and her quietly voicing her disappointment in everyone. All the inmates become incredibly ashamed of themselves, and immediately stop shanking one another. She'd give the kids "the look"...and, a month later, everyone's getting straight As.
  10. Pinkie Pie needs to be real so that she can run for President. Once she's elected, we send her into North Korea. Three days later, we get a video of her doing Gangnam Style with Kim Jong Un, and all of their nuclear weapons have been turned into confetti cannons.
  11. Has Hub ever done a marathon of MLP: FiM episodes? I've seen that they're willing to air them in the middle of the night sometimes...
  12. That's how I'd imagined it, too. Funny episode! I still wish they'd gotten Hank to flip out even more... I think it'd work if ONE pony embellished, and the rest didn't. As soon as she's done with her account, they all give her "the look" and move on.
  13. There's gotta be a brat in the pack. Otherwise, you have a bunch of sweet ponies battling bad guys and tough life decisions, and no one around to offset it all with the elixir of obnoxiousness she can offer. (If I'm wrong, then my personal life's work has meant nothing...) Also, besides the fact that her heart is huge, she looks cute when she sleeps on clouds.
  14. The characters seem perfect (to me) to take advantage of a plot like this. For those unfamiliar, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rashomon_effect The Cutie Mark Chronicles *kind of* does this...but we don't see a lot of the ponies' impressions of the other ponies around them - just the fact that a single event unified them. I'm talking about, for example, Rainbow Dash going, "That's not how it happened!", doing a flashback, and the viewer seeing the world through her eyes. Maybe she hears Twilight as saying "Blah, blah, study, study..." when she talks, Applejack: "Apples, apples, kick a tree, kick a tree..." Rarity going, "My outfits! My hair!", Spike going, "Her outfits...her hair...", or something like that.
  15. I'd like to see a film-noirish episode with Spike as a Sam Spade-type character, and Rarity as the pony he's helping. But Rarity wouldn't be helpless - maybe she'd even end up solving the case.
  16. Thanks! Promise that none of your cookies are in my feed bag. (But, now that I think about it, I want cookies.) As of right now, it's too early for a synopsis - though a lot of the heavy lifting is done. So, today, the novel is about...the biggest ongoing headache I've ever had. But it's still been rewarding to write.
  17. I can't take her seriously until she scratches up her own version of Ginuwine's "Pony". extracharactersextracharacters extracharacters extracharacters extracharacters
  18. Girl's got a reputation to uphold. She wasn't going to give him a gem blender to make diamond smoothies with. But she probably gave him a hug when nopony else was looking...
  19. Hi Zygen, Thanks for the reply. No worries about my browser issues; I'm pretty sure they're I-D-10-T errors of my own making. How do I get to add a signature? Does that happen once my post count is higher?
  20. I dig her. I'd like to see her do something semi-heroic in the next season. But she can't turn all good - she's got to stay somewhat evil. "Trixie" is the show's best "say the name aloud in a sneer" character.
  21. My computer has browser...well, let's call `em "issues." I feel like being polite. I've been busy working on a depressing novel for the past year or so and was introduced to MLP: FiM after finding out Lauren Faust was involved. What a great respite it's turned out to be. I've been a huge animation fan - and arguably a critic - since I was about 10 years old. I think this show is vey well-animated and written, and find it a joy to watch. Great characters. Anyhoof, I'm going to start reading through threads and see what I've missed. Thanks for reading!
