request shop Tell me what to draw.

RIGHT THEN! Took me long enough, but I finally got some free time to draw, and so I banged out the first two in the list. They were very challenging (especially the Scootaloo one) but also incredibly fun to draw. Attack of the 50-foot Scootaloo: and... Rainbow Dash doesn't want to do a barrel roll: Should have some more free time tomorrow so I will (hopefully) be posting the next two. Please tell me what you think!
  2. I won't be going. I really would've liked to, but I just can't. I'm the only Brony I know anywhere near my area, so that means I'd end up having to go alone. That in itself is no fun. And, while I'm not a "closet" Brony and am very open about it, I do draw the line somewhere, and I'd just feel way too self-conscious to enjoy myself, especially now that I know what the general populace feels about Bronies going to see the film.
  3. I used to game constantly back in the day, but now I can scarcely call myself a gamer. Even then, however, I was always a casual gamer and I always will be. Still, I used to so look forward to the next game I would buy and I'd rent games constantly, even if I had no intention of buying them, just to play something new. But nowadays, I barely game. Monetary constraints forced me to be far more picky with games, and I simply can't find any games that interest me now. That developed into me just losing my taste for it in general. I still switch on my consoles when I'm bored, but I only ever play the same games. I have many 360 games, but only play two of them, and I have only 3 games in all for my PS3, which I now barely turn on. My DS only ever plays Pokémon games (though it's been ages since I picked them up). That being said, when I do play, I very much enjoy my favourites, so I don't dislike gaming, but it's nowhere near the big part of my life it used to be.
  4. Any era will have nostalgia to someone after some time. I don't think there's a single era where there wasn't some kind of memorable event or moment that people who were there can remember. For my part, I grew up in the 90's so I have a bit more nostalgia for it currently as the 2000's still register as "recent" to me, but I can certainly point out a lot of stuff in the 2000's that I can and will remember fondly, especially as time goes on and it starts to feel more like "the old days" to me.
  5. Went to the local Hot Topic yesterday and conducted a raid. I only went in there to pick up a Rainbow Dash necklace I'd found earlier, but I ended up walking out with that, plus 3 pony shirts (and one non-pony shirt) and a couple of buttons. My wallet... was not happy. But I was.

OK! Wow, this was more responses than I was expecting. I am really liking the ideas you've all posted, so I'm going to do them all~ So the first batch will consist of: - Attack of the 50-Foot Scootaloo - DO A BARREL ROLL! - Fluttershy eating pizza - Rainbow... PAUNCH! - Idle chitchat with Octavia and Vinyl - Derpy all tied up - Rainbow Dash vs. Spitfire This could take a while. Cheers!

Just what the title says. I'd like to improve my drawings, but I have a creative block and I don't know what to draw. So in this thread, I would like for you to tell me what to draw. It can be any situation you want, with (almost) any character you want. There's a few "rules" though: I would prefer canon characters (this includes background ponies too) as opposed to OC's, the reason being I want to teach myself the show's house style so I can draw more accurately. That being said, if you want to request OC's, feel free and I will likely draw some, but just keep in mind that I will give preference to canon characters. I will also give preference to creative situations, and fun/challenging poses are also a plus. I'm not expecting a lot of requests, but I will have to be picky with them because I don't really have time to do a lot of drawings. I'm afraid I won't be able to colour them. I'm not up to scratch on vectoring yet. Thanks in advance for any requests, it will help me get much better.
  8. Ah, I knew I must have made a mistake! I agree, it's very hard. I studied it for a few months, but I'm not good at all yet. I'm not studying it now, but even if I can't use it outside of a few countries, I would still like to learn it. But I collect languages, because I'm a little bit crazy. And yes, it's nice to hang out here where people are very kind and civilised. And like Mr_SP said, don't go to 4Chan, it's like our version of Udaff.com. Back to topic, I really should start picking up a few figures too, but in my area they're very rare for some reason...
  9. Not just head canon, Lauren Faust said that's pretty much the exact reason for her looking like that. Also I'd be wary of putting so much stock into Fluttershy's "I'm a year older" line. For one, it seemed like a throwaway line at best, and even if it isn't, it only tells us she's older than Pinkie Pie. For all we know, Pinkie's the youngest of the six, and Fluttershy's the second youngest; or maybe they're all the same age except Pinkie. Hard to tell unless we know how old they all are.
  10. Can't afford it, and even if I could, travel is much too complicated and cumbersome to bother. Plus I'd end up going alone and that's no fun at all. I generally dislike conventions anyway.
  11. I think the word in Russian is «?????», but my Russian is very very poor, so I'm not sure. What he means is that there is a new Fluttershy figure that is unique, and looks like Fluttershy and not Rainbow Dash, but it hasn't been released in stores yet. The new Fluttershy figure is much better and it's best to wait for it to come out, then maybe it'll appear in your stores, or another brony can send you one.
  12. I don't really like the "evangelicals" either, or the ones who shove ponies in people's faces just to troll. I agree that it does give the fandom a bad name, and is probably the biggest thing that makes people think bronies are annoying. Aaaaand sadly, I hate to admit I seem to be drifting into that a little myself, and I really feel guilty about it when I catch myself. I guess it's from a lack of fellow fans to actually interact with combined with the excitement of actually having something to be a fan of, but I really need to learn to stop myself.
  13. I have a ton... A TON... of drawings I planned to do months ago that I should really finish (some of which I haven't actually started yet). However, I have no intention of ever doing so.
  14. I'd be a Trabant 601. Dreadfully slow, not very pretty, not very interesting, outdated, cheap, no luxury to speak of. But also humble, dependable, and easy to care for.
  15. She's probably just unusually tall and lanky for her age. Fluttershy was always portrayed as kind of a "dork" and generally awkward pony (especially in her youth), so I figured it was just another way to show how different she was from her more athletic and "fit" peers. Kinda sweet, actually, when you consider that as an adult she's frequently seen as a very attractive pony (as shown in 'Green Isn't Your Colour') so she likely had a bit of an "ugly duckling" phase as a kid. Makes her character that much more endearing.
  16. My parents do know. Though my dad probably isn't as fully aware of the extent, but mostly because he's not too familiar with the whole brony thing. He sometimes frowns slightly on my liking anything perceived as "girly" (more so in the past than nowadays) but he usually gets over it quickly and pretty much gives me free rein to like what I want. My mom knows it fully. I often joke around with her about it. She was a bit iffy on the idea of bronies in general, but mostly out of confusion over what the big deal was about MLP. Once she saw what a positive impact ponies had on my life, she's been largely very supportive. My parents usually tend to be pretty lax on my hobbies as a whole. They compare what many other young men my age could be into (drugs, alcohol, crime, etc) and figure that technicolour ponies really aren't the worst thing I could be doing.
  17. To be honest, one of the main reasons (if not the main reason) that I love this show so much is precisely the lack of violence or excessively "dark" themes. Now, if someone likes those kinds of themes, then great, I have no disrespect, but personally I cannot stand them, and I feel they have no place at all in MLP. The world is depressing enough as it is without having to see the horrors of humanity in a cartoon. I (and again I am speaking only for myself here) cannot really fathom why people expect everything to be so dark and depressing (and that this in turn makes a story instantly good). I believe that anything that contributes to a smile and a renewed faith in people as a whole is much better than contributing to the image of humanity as a twisted nightmare (regardless of whether or not that image is true). It seems like everything tries to cater to "darkness", from TV to comics to video games, and it's always labelled as more "mature" because of it. Like maturity is equal to having a bitter and jaded worldview and everything is violence and hatred. My Little Pony (and shows like it) is like an oasis from all that. It allows me to, for a while, take a break from the bad and see a world where good always comes out on top and everyone always ends up happy. Why can't "mature" also equal "optimistic"? Honestly, the day that MLP decides to be "dark" or violent will be the day I leave the fandom. Note: I apologise if this post sounds a little combative or inflammatory. I certainly didn't mean for it to, and I respect anyone's tastes, be they "dark" or "light". I suppose I do feel a bit strongly about this.
  18. So I said I'd go back to basics and draw canon ponies next. I went for Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash. I wasn't feeling particularly creative though, so I opted to just depict a classic scene: These two were harder than I thought they'd be, especially Fluttershy. I must have redone her face at least 10 times. I'm still not really that happy with the way they came out in the end, but it's the best I can do for now.
  19. @, What you've said at the end was put better than I could've. That is, the bit about doing the absolute minimum. It's the same for me, I have so very little incentive to do any more or go above and beyond mostly because I don't get anything out of it (which I'm sure is the same for you), not even a "hey, good job today". Only one of my bosses really bothers to recognise the work I do and show appreciation (he's also a good friend of mine) and so he's the only one I'll bend over backwards for. But the best part of your post was this bit right here: OH MY GOD you have no idea how much I relate to this. My boss is basically the same. She's nice in some ways, but in other ways... not so much. Specifically her tendency to do the same thing you said, juggle me around from task to task (none of which are nearly as important as what I'm doing, and all of which can be done by anyone else). So I have to prepare a pallet of disco'd items to send to the warehouse before the truck arrives in an hour? You can bet I'm getting put on register for half of that hour. And then, BIG SURPRISE, my stuff doesn't get done. I love the day's she's off, because I get so much done and so calmly too. I don't bother rushing any more, because I won't be busting my arse for my non-existent promotion/rise, plus if they see how little I end up getting done, maybe they'll actually let me finish some of it. But yeah, I'm only sticking around until I get a good enough amount of experience in this, that I can use to tart up my résumé and (hopefully) find a better-paying job.
  20. I work at a retail store, in which my job is to run the cash office. That entails counting and filling the registers every morning, preparing deposits, making sure the safe is balanced and accounted for, and keeping records of all of this. I am also in charge of the inventory to a large degree. I have to make sure all damaged product/returns are processed/labelled/sorted, gather damaged/defective products as well as discontinued/buyback products to be shipped to the warehouse and then prepare those shipments, and making sure that they're scanned and removed from inventory. And again, making and keeping records of all of this. Needless to say, I have a lot to do there, and I have to do it all by myself. As for my feelings on all this, it's a mixed bag. On the one hand, despite the fact that it's often very hard and tedious work, with very little time to actually do it all, I do enjoy it to a degree and I do take some sort of pride in doing it properly and on time. But on the other hand, I only took the position because I was promised that I'd be promoted and given a pay rise. Neither of which happened and I'm STILL doing all the work. Which leaves me bitter as you can imagine. So sometimes I can be a bit of a slacker when I start to feel like I'm getting shafted. On top of THAT, I'm also cross-trained in several other departments (I know more than some of the managers) and I'm often called upon to help out in those departments, even as I'm busy working on my own stuff. So to answer the question, I would say I'm a hard worker, and I'd say I'm dependable. But at the same time I'm also a bitter and jaded worker that feels like I'm doing a lot for very little in return, so how hard I work is very dependent on my mood.
  21. At the moment, yes very much so. I really don't watch TV, and I really dislike the vast majority of TV shows airing now but watching MLP is one of the few shows I actually look forward to watching, and one of the even fewer shows that I'll watch in long marathons. Apart from MLP, I do also watch some animes occasionally.
  22. Within the fandom, Equestria Girls, surely. Though I personally don't see anything wrong with it, I can see where the detractors are coming from. And of course, the whole clopper controversy. Outside the fandom though, the biggest controversy is bronydom itself. It's forcing people to question long-established gender roles in a way that many don't want to face, and challenging people's perceptions about cartoons and their audiences. To say nothing of the division it's causing between people which I don't think will ever be resolved, but only worsened, as time goes on.
  23. I didn't go, and I don't really plan to, to be honest. Sometimes I feel like I'm pressured to go, or doubt if I'm making the right choice, but in the end I just don't see myself going. I've always gotten good marks, but I'm just not a school person, and I don't feel like it's worth the effort (for me).
  24. These plushies are so perfect, I want them RITE NAU. The only minor nitpick I have is that Dashie's eyes aren't as accurate as the others (they look too much like Fluttershy's) but that's not a bother at all. Twilight is absolutely beautiful, her mane is SPOT ON (which I was worried about), she's so getting bought. Only bad thing is I'm going to have to order them for delivery. There's a Build-a-Bear very close to my house, and I really wanted to go and have fun building my own ponies, but I also don't want to have to deal with people's dirty judgemental looks...
  25. I come bearing ponies. First I will post @'s request of his OC, Professor Neurocrazy (which I'm assuming is his name based on the image you posted, please correct if I'm wrong!). I hope you like! He was a fun one to draw, and also let me have a go at drawing a two-legged pose, which I still need practise on. Next is some more OC fun. Creamsicle and Strawberry Parfait (left and centre) and to the right, a new pony, Prune. I really like the way this sketch turned out, it's one of my favourites so far. Though their proportions came out more short and filly-like than I had intended. Basic profile for Prune: She's kind of a pessimist, but she's a sweetheart and a good friend, and only wants to help. Her predictions of doom never really seem to come true, but somehow she can always find a way to get herself into a silly accident. Enjoys sunbathing but she always falls asleep and gets sunburned. Now, that's enough OC's for a while, I reckon. Next time I'm going to draw some canon ponies for a change. Specifically, some of the Mane 6.
