Mega Thread Do you have any pets?

Hey everyone, update time! I had a bit of a scare on Tuesday. We almost lost my cat Bingo (I mean dead lost, not missing). But thankfully he turned out to be alright. But the event prompted me to go through my old photo albums and write up my memoirs of the 17 years I've had with him. I know I probably only have a couple more years with him, and so I wanted to get his life story down while he's still with me. If you'd like, you can read them on my blog here: http://arrellianstories.blogspot.com/
  2. Yeah. Babs Seed has got to be the #1 hardest tune to forget. Which I guess would qualify it as "catchiest" of the show so far.

Mega Thread Do you have any pets?

My cat, Bingo, is 17 and I've had him his entire life. I got him when I was little, and we've grown up together. I can barely remember back to a time when I didn't have him around. And I hope he is still a part of my life for many years to come.
  4. A collectible edition of Settlers of Catan from Amazon! I won a gift card for a contest in one of my other forums, and since I love table games, it was the perfect thing to spend it on!
  5. Hmm, well I guess the number 1 thing I fear in life is making mistakes. I've always been a lot like Twilight Sparkle in that I tend to be a perfectionist. If I'm going to participate in something, it has to be something I know I can do well. I'd hate to jump into something and do it poorly and end up looking like a fool. And I hate making choices without knowing how things will turn out. I like to know all my variables and work things out perfectly.
  6. Gotta love the '70s! ... I mean the temperature range. A sunny day with a light breeze, scattered cumulus clouds drifting overhead, a hammock under a tree, and a fresh lemonade in my hand!

    Hello! (Again)

Thanks everyone. I hope to be around a while.
  8. I'm not against a good glass of fine wine with a steak dinner or some such meal that calls for it. In those settings it's entirely appropriate and adds an extra layer to the meal. But I don't care for beer or most of the rest of the cheap "get drunk quick" stuff you can get at the local store. That stuff's nasty and doesn't even smell good. I don't see the attraction there.
  9. Oh come on, that's not unpopular! Futurama is better than the Simpsons!
  10. Well this whole thing needs more Scootaloo! Sorry Celestia, but that filly just takes the cake here. On the other hand, it doesn't really matter who takes this round. The winners are already taking their places from the last round.
  11. Ah yes, Veggie Tales actually came out when I was in junior high. My friends started getting into it, and I was like "What!? Why are you watching a silly kid's show." Yeah. Me back then probably would have been appalled to know I now watch MLP. Eventually I came to enjoy Veggie Tales, though, just like I now enjoy this show! It's got some good stories, and it's clean and above board for everyone. Actually a couple weeks ago I watched one with some friends called "It's a Meaningful Life." It's kind of a spinoff version of the Jimmy Stewart classic It's a Wonderful Life. Some pretty good stuff

  13. Hello everyone! I'm not technically new (I was one of the founding members here back in 2011). But I've been gone for so long I might as well be new. I even had to reset my password cause it'd been so long I forgot it. Anyway, I just wanted to say hi and see if anyone from back in the day was still kicking around here. Looks like the site has changed a lot since I've been gone. What is everyone up to these days? I look forward to catching up with people and making new friends.
  14. I never noticed this before, but that's probably because I didn't stop to really study the background ponies when I first started watching the show in Season 1... But take a close look at this screenshot from "Fall Weather Friends". I think you'll find it hilarious. I call it Race of the Dopplegangers. There's at least 3 Lyras, 3 Bon Bons, 3 Berry Punches, 3 Carrot Tops, and others. Or maybe the Changelings have been secretly infiltrating Equestria all this time!!
  15. So. Much. Win. Looks like you all had more fun than should be allowed. And ditto on the "Yeeeaah!" guy.
  16. Update! I've uploaded 3 videos from the event to my youtube channel. They're short, just a taste of what it was like, but better than nothing and a chance to hear John DeLancie narrating. I would have added them to the OP but apparently it was too full to embed anything more. Also, apparently there's something wrong with the site here, it won't let me embed the 2nd video. Says I've uploaded too many media already. Like 3 links to youtube is too many somehow. So you'll just have to click the link. http://mlpforums.com/public/style_emoticons/default/dry.png http-~~-//www.youtube.
  17. Awesome! My topic here got featured on EQD for the nightly roundup. http://www.equestriadaily.com/2012/08/nightly-roundup-413.html#more Part of the Ravinia section highlights.
  18. Cyborg eyes are the best eyes... just ask Sweetiebot (or Finesthour!) Funny thing is, when my alarm went off at 6:30 this morning I honestly thought about hitting the snooze and going back to sleep. I hate getting up early to travel. But I'm so glad I didn't.
  19. If being introduced to a whole pile of new music and artists that I never would have known about counts, then buck yeah! Oh, also getting in my car at the God-forsaken hour of 7:30 in the morning and driving for nearly 5 hours to be at a meetup in Chicago with a bunch of people I've never met before to sit on the grass and listen to opera... And meet John deLancie. And make MLP cake art for my birthday. And carve MLP pumpkins with my dad for Halloween. So yeah, things have changed because of this crazy show. Yay.
  20. Hey Everypony! A while back on EQD there was a http://www.equestria...should-go.htmlpost about John DeLancie calling out all midwest bronies to meetup in Chicago to hear him narrate The Magic Flute, Mozart's only opera. Well I got to go today. It was a long drive from my home in Iowa, but well worth it! We had a huge turnout, and we got to meet John in person after the show. It was awesome! Some pics of our experience... Cause everyone loves pics! There are two Fluttershys in this first pic... can you spot them both? and finally the mome

    Gaming Simcity 4 gaming thread

I've never experienced memory lag that I've noticed. But that may be because I'm using a computer with enough extra to absorb the problem without me noticing... As to the other things you address, of course you can have a city full of skyscrapers with few if any smaller buildings. Ever heard of New York? Or Tokyo? Many of the world's greatest cities are exactly that way, and the game accurately reflects that. You build your supporting buildings in other cities and get rid of what's not needed as you build your main city, and soon enough you don't have anything small left over. That's not

    Gaming Simcity 4 gaming thread

I love sim city. I grew up on those games. Played sim city 4 for years. Sadly it won't work on my new computer... But I have found a new game that continues the spirit of sim city in an epic fashion. Cities XL 2012 Here's a few shots of my main city. It's called Cerus, and so far is about a half a million in population. As you can see, Cities XL continues the excellent tradition of sim city 4 in allowing a day/night cycle. Also, you can build multiple cities and have them trade with each other, also in sim city 4 style. In fact, in Cities XL trade is almo
