  1. I've never experienced memory lag that I've noticed. But that may be because I'm using a computer with enough extra to absorb the problem without me noticing... As to the other things you address, of course you can have a city full of skyscrapers with few if any smaller buildings. Ever heard of New York? Or Tokyo? Many of the world's greatest cities are exactly that way, and the game accurately reflects that. You build your supporting buildings in other cities and get rid of what's not needed as you build your main city, and soon enough you don't have anything small left over. That's not something to complain about, that's how city growth works. Then you claim that I said it's hard to upkeep the wealthy. I never said that. In fact I like the differences Cities XL makes in various income classes among your citizens. It's very realistic and something sim city never realized. In real life you're going to have widely varied neighborhoods depending on citizen wealth. You don't see that in sim city, but here in Cities XL it's pretty obvious when you go from the unskilled worker neighborhood to the wealthy executives. You say no construction. Obviously that's wrong. Did you never try to build a monument? Those things take forever to go up. Finally you completely ignored the issue of graphics and how ridiculously awesome Cities XL looks with such great detail. Crank up the graphics to ultra and zoom in and watch the people walk around doing their stuff. It's quite amazing really. One thing I'll admit I do miss, and I wish Cities XL had this, was the U-drive-it missions of sim city 4. Being able to grab a vehicle and drive around my own city was a favorite past time, and a great way to earn some quick cash. I especially enjoyed the military missions, smuggling a tank out of the city and all that. Ah well...

  3. I love sim city. I grew up on those games. Played sim city 4 for years. Sadly it won't work on my new computer... But I have found a new game that continues the spirit of sim city in an epic fashion. Cities XL 2012 Here's a few shots of my main city. It's called Cerus, and so far is about a half a million in population. As you can see, Cities XL continues the excellent tradition of sim city 4 in allowing a day/night cycle. Also, you can build multiple cities and have them trade with each other, also in sim city 4 style. In fact, in Cities XL trade is almost essential, as otherwise you won't have the resources needed to grow a city much bigger than half a million. I highly recommend it. In fact I think I saw it on sale as part of the steam summer sale going on. Dunno if it still is or not, but it would be a great deal if it is.
  4. It's a bit late in this thread to use this gif appropriately, but I think it totally fits the humor theme anyway. Rainbow Dash always wins the FIRST race.
  5. Sphere It was... interesting. A bit creepy at time, but definitely interesting. http://mlpforums.com/public/style_emoticons/default/dry.png
  6. Nice, looks like you all knew about her already. So I'm fashionably late to the party this time.
  7. I stumbled on this incredible artist last night on youtube, and the first thing I thought was, "If Octavia and Vinyl Scratch were ever combined into one human musician, this would be her. Without a doubt." Check out these videos. They are incredible and will probably blow your mind. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=06f67ru5tCI&feature=related
  8. Well, not technically in school, this was at a summer "camp" sorta thing... I got in major trouble once when I mimicked the instructor at a military base where we were doing a summer camp thing with the Air National Guard. It was on an airforce base, and we would come in and spend all day doing various projects with our teams, like building rockets, designing insignias, and studying military stuff. It was a fun way for a 10 year old kid to spend his summer. Anyway, what happened was this: We had a big conference room set aside for our use, and when our teams weren't busy working on projects or studying, we had free time in that room. And whenever the instructor wanted to get all our attention she would call out "Air Guard?" to which we would all immediately stop what we were doing and shout back, "AIR GUARD!" then fall silent and wait for whatever she would say. It was a good system, and the kids were trained well to respond properly. Of course I, being a little smart-ass, decided one day I was going to have fun with the system. On a dare from my team mates I suddenly called out, in perfect mimick of the instructor, "Air Guard?" and the entire room erupted with the reply, coming to attention. I must say I felt both excited and scared at what I had just done. Of course the instructor was furious and demanded to know who had done it, and my good-for-nothing team mates ratted me out. So I was dragged off into a restricted area of the base by a very upset military woman. I remember thinking I was more concerned at the time we might get shot for accessing a restricted area... Well, she chewed me out all up and down for misbehaving and causing the entire room to reply to a false call. And she threatened to send me home and not let me finish the program. But when it was all said and done, I was able to go back to my team and all was well. The rest of the week, everyone knew me as the kid who bucked the military system on a dare. I will always remember that.
  9. Asa Shigure, Shuffle! I love a girl with green hair.
  10. No they're really not. Rarity is old enough to own her own shop and is quite a successful business pony. And from discussions that have been had numerous times on this subject, it's pretty common knowledge that they are all young adults. The exact numbers are always being argued over, but they're certainly not kids. And especially in 10 years time they would all be more than old enough to have families on their own, if they were so inclined.
  11. Agreed completely on the Applejack part. She is without a doubt the most family-oriented pony on the show, and I'm sure she'd be the first to start one of her own. And 10 years from now, Applebloom will be all grown up anyway, so she'd likely be off on her own, leaving AJ with plenty of time to get a husband and all that.
  12. Well, kinda obvious what my choice here is. Which of the other princesses has ever DOUBLED THE FUN?
  13. Lunch? Pinkie Pie. Because I like food, and so does she. And I know she would manage to find something awesome for dessert to throw in with it. Heck, we might just end up having chocolate cake for lunch! And who could complain about that? And with her, I wouldn't have to worry about leaving Equestria and never seeing her again. She's the kind of pony that would break the 4th wall to say hi to me again.
  14. Wow, I remember when we were crawling through the low hundreds. Now look at us.

    Hello

Welcome PureLogic! Spock says to say hi. And also this:

I have Wednesdays and Thursdays off, so Tuesdays are technically my Fridays. :D

  17. Yeah, studios have a tendency to extend or cancel shows due to ratings and popularity. Well, take a look at the Hub. Before FiM hardly anybody had ever even heard of it. I know I hadn't. But now it's got more viewers than ever before, and FiM is the most popular show it's ever had. With that in mind, there's no way in Tartarus they would cancel the show any time soon. So don't worry about things that haven't happened yet, and might not for a long time. As a wise teacher once said, "worry not about tomorrow... for each day has enough trouble of its own."
  18. I want to see this in the show. The two best villains razzing each other. I can only imagine the hilarity that would insue.
  19. Many years ago my dad was in the Navy, and for a time he was stationed in Maryland. But not in recent history, no. He just has one of those generic, white-beared elder looks. Like Santa, but not as fat or jolly.
  20. Haha, yeah I remember when I was a kid wishing that I could hit 18 and then revert back to 14 and live through my teen years again. But you know, growing up isn't so bad really. Having your own place, your own car, your own entertainment center and all that can be lots of fun. Nobody is there to tell you what to do, and if you want to set up your pony collection on the coffee table, go for it! Having a job isn't always fun. That's probably the worst part of being grown up. But hey, maybe you'll get lucky and get fired. Then you won't have to worry about that either!
  21. There's a lot of Discord shipping out there. Some of it is pretty crazy. I've never seen any Rainbow Dash with him. She's too cool for that. Here's a few pics I've collected that show Discord with a possible love interest. Everyone seems to favor Chrysalis! Though Pinkie Pie seems to be the second favorite.
  22. Dogs are indeed pretty awesome animals. Personally I prefer cats, but I'll admit that no cat I know would do something like that. There's a reason that humans have counted dogs as their best friends for centuries. It's stuff like this that makes me miss my dog. Sadly he was allergic to grass and had to be put down for his own sake. But yeah, dogs are cool. And it's nice to see an article about something where one saved a baby's life. Maybe the kid will grow up and get the opportunity to return the favor by adopting some abandoned puppy some day.
  23. And then Princess Cadence went to high school... And much love was spread to all!
  24. Haha, well stop inviting GLaDOS to your parties.
