    Meghan McCartney mentioned the song was inspired by danny elfman I immediately started thinking of the this is halloween song

    That's the thing though taking into account the normal season airing date around late September the episode would probably end up coinciding with the Saturday before or after Halloween. because of this you could argue the episode was focusing less on the conflict and more on bringing about flutterbat. Had season 4 not been pushed back and this episode aired around Halloween I think most people would accept the fact the plot took a more darker turn so as a result I'm not too fussed about the beginning as it was clear what that main focus on the episode was to give a halloween approach to it much like Heart's warming Eve was primarily focused on being a Christmas style tale, it's obviously no coincidence they got Merriweather to do both episodes of course I still feel that fluttershy could have questioned Twilight spell and maybe reference Swarm of the Century where a similar spell went wrong. It would have made her moral on not letting peer pressure get to you more reasonable as we didn't actually see the Vampire fruit bats affected in a negative way and apart from being blindsided by flutterbat which not even fluttershy could predict

    It wouldn't surprise me if an extra member was added to the team as Twilight's ascension to an alicorn has meant that the distribution of races is unbalanced. So a unicorn such as Starswirl would be an intresting addition a head cannon that I'm writing about has Starswirl retrieve from time by the mane 6. Although the whole pony of shadows business could bring about his return sooner than I expected. Problem is the mane 6 personalities are so diverse there isn't really a male personality not covered yet

    I could only see this happening in a movie or the show finale, although I wouldn't be angry if they got it earlier. Problem is it would restrict the amount of episode they have together because the fact they are still looking for the talent's is a big part of their character

But overall definitely was an enjoyable episode

    Looks like we have a new addition to the writing set up in Josh Haber who wrote the Castle-mania episode. Curious to see what he brings to the table.

    Had a crazy headcanon about Starswirl travelling to the present and being a magical tutor to Twilight who in turn uses her lessons in friendship to teach Starswirl maybe have the time spell have a side effect of making him younger or somethings Anyways realistically this is a bad idea

    There's a fanfic called Sweetie Belle's Descent into madness and it's quite a good read and makes this theory seem more plausible granted there is no canon evidence of this

    Good point there's even a scene where she is seen feeding baby birds. I'd imagine she be given some kind of grant to support the Animal welfare and does small jobs involving animals for extra bits
