  2. Hello @isitpurplee! First off, I want to welcome you to the forums! You are in the right place for remixes, songs, and such of the like, but the work has to be your own to post it here, sorry! I'm gonna lock this topic, but you're welcome to post links to your friend's work in a blog entry, or as a status update. Have a good day! ♪
  3. @@Crystal Vision, ahh. I'm familiar with this character--her design is actually really lovely to me. You did an awesome job with her too! It looks so clean and show-styled. I love it!
  4. Hello ! Your friend's videos honestly look pretty interesting, however Octavia's Hall is here for people to post their own personal work, so I'm locking this topic. Sorry! I would try to make this into a blog post or something if you want to still post their videos. ♥

  8. @@Crystal Vision, these two ponies are just beautiful. The cupcake themed one looks like it was pretty fun to do too, haha. Honestly it's one of the more interesting designs I've seen too, and you did extremely well with it.
  9. @, I know that pain of searching for a style or being unsure of make to make of the current one, haha. I'm still trying to figure out a new one for myself that can go a bit further, or look a bit nicer. Anyways, umm. Honestly I think almost any style will find fans or look great in its own right, so long as you practice and develop it well. I will say that the somewhat more realistic styles of ponies seem to overall be a bit less popular than the more cartoonish/cute proportioned ponies. However, it also seems to have its fans too, and a number of artists I really like go that direction with their ponies, so really it's just a choice. Heck, I find the realism of it is actually a major pro in many cases. The rough/painterly style has worked pretty well too I believe, especially when you can get a nice level of detail, flow, and depth out of the messy appearance. I can't fully judge where you're at without seeing more of your art, but I believe you could already do some quite solid work in this style--though I suspect further down the line is where it would really stand out. Right now it looks a little too conflicted in its messiness, at least in this particular image anyways. I do still quite like it though. Don't quite know what else to say here, haha. I like it, but can't say definitively what to make of it, especially since I don't know your own preference or goal. I think you can establish a connection and appeal through a varied number of styles, and it's hard to judge what to aim for in that. Though, I think expressiveness and depth/impact is huge for that, quite often.
  10. Mm. Honestly a pretty good question, haha. I don't think their motherly side has been even hinted at much. I'll guess at my own impressions though here: Twilight - I kinda see her being a little bit of a textbook mother on some points, going with what studies show is best for children or referring to different techniques of good parenting; that aside though, I think she'd be one of the most supportive and encouraging mothers, especially since she's relaxed her overzealous behavior a bit. Though, I 'do' think she would be very schedule and rule oriented, and would likely raise an obedient and driven child. Applejack - She'd probably be very family and responsibility-centered. Always supportive and always willing to lend a comforting hoof, but very big on raising a child with good moral character, and a good work ethic/sense of responsibility. Would likely have her children helping out around the house/farm from early on. ...Would also possibly be a bit overprotective sometimes, or very worried for no strong reason early on. Fluttershy - Can't picture it honestly, not without knowing the SO. She seems like one of the sweetest possible, but her parenting style I think would depend too much on who she's with. She seems the type to need that to be highly cooperative. Pinkie Pie - Probably would be doing all she could to keep her kids having fun and making friends, which would have mixed results depending on the children she has. I think she'd be a parent that's hard to relate to, but still very loving and would do anything for her kids. Though, I think her friends would probably need to step in quite a bit (especially early on) to help her, as she seems like she'd be overly lax on discipline and serious parenting jobs. That aside, I think she'd be one of the most encouraging and supportive of the group, and would refuse to let her kids be unhappy ever. Rainbow Dash - I kinda see her being a mix of lax and strong as a parent. Probably the type to slightly push her kids to be themselves, do bold things, and to not back down or sit out on stuff they want to do. I think she'd raise her kids to be a little wild or overly brave in that way. Unless she wound up with a very quiet or shy kid. I think she'd still have a similar theme in her parenting, but I honestly can see her being soft and encouraging for some of the most reserved kids, quietly rooting them on and making them feel like even small things they do are huge accomplishments and feats. Rarity - Again, I have issues seeing her as a parent. She seems like she would have a thing for being a bit overly dramatic or prone to extremes. Though, I also see her being exceedingly loving and prone to spoiling her kids. Though, I'm not fully sure how good she would be at setting boundaries or enforcing rules while still intertwining it with love. I think she would probably need a more relaxed or irresponsible SO to act as a balancing counterpoint to raise a child. But yeah, that's my general thoughts on how they'd be as parents.
  11. Hello @hyderpony! I went ahead and moved your topic to the Other Art Project Help section, since you're looking for help from a voice actor. Hopefully you'll find someone there~
  12. @@SonicAKG, I moved your topic to Writing Resources as you're looking for feedback on elements of your story. Figure you might be more likely to get the feedback you're looking for there too~
  13. Heya @Odyssey! It really sucks about the bullying deal, and the overly negative criticism you've been handed. I know that kind of crud can be hugely discouraging, and I don't think you deserve any of it. I'm a believer in that stuff of that overly-condemning sort isn't worth listening to--maybe the more valid criticisms, but only if it can help you find the underlying ways you could improve; harping on issues or just straight up insulting someone's art tends to not be the helpful or meaningful type. Regardless, believe me when I say even the more amazing artists can have noticeable flaws in their work, and the only things that really matter are getting better and finding a way to enjoy/use what you can do right now. ...Pretty much everyone is guilty of comparing themselves to other artists, but some are more vehement about it than others. I still sometimes come across a few artists here and there that I don't believe I could ever match, and young artists in the 14-17 year old range that put my work to shame and make me wonder why I'm even taking art seriously when they're around, haha. However, it's one of those things that I think people need to find a balance with. If you didn't compare your work with others, you'd lose your ability to find inspiration or learning cues. However, if you compare it too much, you can lose sight of the merits of your own work, and grow to dislike it. Too little, and you might go on believing your work is the best thing ever when it has really glaring issues that turn people away. It's one of those moderation things, sadly, and being modest about your art doesn't require you to hold it up to the harshest lights of comparison. Anyways, umm... I will say that trying new things and stepping outside of your artistic comfort zone is very good for improvement. As is looking at other people's works for pointers and ideas of how to improve your own art. I know this makes it easier to look at the flaws of your own work, but if you go in with the mindset that improvement and experimentation (and fun!) takes priority over quality, you should be in pretty decent shape no matter the result. Personally, I've found my peace with things (mostly) by accepting my ability has limits, and I am firmly in the amateur level. All the amazing art I see around that would make me feel bad about what I can do, I try to relegate at something I could do one day. Right now, I can't, and that's fine. Instead, I look at what I can do with what I have, and really, that's quite a bit of useful stuff. I can create character designs, convey a little life to said characters, play with random ideas, study anatomy, and create a bunch of interesting-to-look-at sketches of various things. Heck, I can make people happy by doing art for them--that's been one of my strongest motivators for years. So long as I can make a project for my art, or find some way to use it that I like... I can't really feel bad about it in the same way. Though, that hasn't stopped me from taking months at a time off from art in the past, and being down on it sometimes. Comes with the territory I suppose. Anyways. I think you're a great artist from what I remember of your work, and I think the best thing you can do right now is find out what you enjoy about doing art, or at least some fun way to use it. Whatever that is. And, you may want to better convince yourself that your art doesn't need to be amazing to be well worth the time doing. Heck, I envy a few people I know for being able to just create freely, with little to no concern whether what they do has a point or not, or if it looks great at the end; they just have fun doing it or playing with new ideas, and well, that's something I wish I could do often, haha. Why not browse around and find a few things that just sound fun to play with, regardless of whether it turns out well or has a purpose? Or, maybe an interesting project you want to do for yourself, rather than for other people? Good luck, all the same. Other people here and I will be here if you ever need to talk about anything~
  14. ...Holy crud. I followed up this post with looking at your dA, and I'm really just amazed. Your art is beautiful! But yeah, this really wants me to draw more. You really have an impressive level of ability and talent with this, and I'm honestly a little envious if anything. Keep up the awesome work! 17. @@Crystal Vision, amazing work as usual. All of this is just freakin' lovely.
  18. I kinda back the theory that the elements are the central, greatest power in Equestria, and Celestia/Luna no longer are the bearers of them as they once were. If memory serves, there was some mention of Celestia losing her grasp on the elements in relation to having to banish her sister Luna--I think this was the pivotal moment that her power greatly diminished. She has proven to be a very powerful alicorn for sure... but she is no longer a bearer of the greater power of the elements, nor the fallen Luna, who betrayed many of the core values of the elements of harmony. I think it especially fits if Luna was the last big-bad to come before the long era of peace. Luna and Celestia used the elements to defeat discord, and probably did so for Sombra, or any other major villian, even Nightmare Moon herself. Now that the mane 6 are the bearers... they're understandably higher up in power I think. EDIT: Also, I think Celestia was not able to purge Nightmare Moon like the mane 6 could, because she was half the total elemental bearers fighting the other elemental bearer.
  19. I'm gonna jump on the deer bandwagon. They've shown up in the comics and seem pretty fitting of the universe. Though I'd love to see some non-lunar guard bat ponies.

I'm out of serious questions, but I can think of a few more. Who's your favorite Cutie Mark Crusader, and is she also the most fun to work with regarding storyboarding? Without hints as to what future episodes you've worked on have for character appearances, are there characters you hope to work with in future projects? As in, episodes in the distant future. Also, Batman, Superman, or Spiderman?

    fandom q+a Ward Jenkins Q&A 2.0

Possibly the last question I personally have: seeing as how your first episode came out quite well received, are you feeling more confident in working on episodes still in production? I imagine there might have been some stress prior to this one airing, and getting feedback from those not on staff with the show, haha.

I think I heard somewhere you were going to watch the episode with family/others. How did they like it, and how did it feel to watch all your work unfold for all to see? Also, I love how much effort you put into researching the CMC and getting your stuff together for tackling the episode. It sounds like it was pretty overwhelming, but exciting, haha. Also also, before someone else speaks of headcanons, there's just a ton of fan theories and other things surrounding the CMC--Oh wait dang, someone beat me to it.

Personally I'm kinda curious how you felt, and went about originally approaching the topic of the episode? Friends diverging a bit can be a pretty brutal thing sometimes, but it was wrapped up so nicely. Was keeping it upbeat and fun hard at all? (PS, I loved Applebloom's little outburst to the other CMCs, its resolution was adorable and captured their childish innocence nicely) Also, welcome back!
