  1. I do varying exercises 2 times a week (just recently decided to return to fitness). Burning all that fatigue and inactivity is a pain in the beginning but it gets easier as it goes.
  2. I always thought it was the other way around. I have like 2 atheist friends, and most of the people i know are theistic to some extent.
  3. Honestly? The salary. I maintain data and software for a tech firm. After finishing my bachelor's and landing a job in this new position, i thought i would be earning a pretty penny, so to speak. It comes as no surprise that what i make might turn out lower than what is usually gossiped in online forums etc., but I've met enough disgruntled employees complaining about their pay, so it's safe to say i'm nothing special there. It's cool in terms of stuff to do, there's enough challenge in what i do to make me feel like i'm honing my skills and there's no shortage of work, plus it doesn't seem like there's a threat to my contract there, so I'm sticking around for the experience and gritting my teeth. Who knows? If they like having me around, maybe a little raise and some bonuses once in a while could fix the problem.
  4. Oh sorry. I'm actually a guy, but i wasn't interested in the dating aspect of this thread per se, just considered having a nice discussion with fellow atheists - so i apologize if i didn't really communicate that. Also I'm married, so there's that. Would it be fine to just be "friends" instead? lol
  5. Yeah, you can take whatever positive aspects there is to tradition. People sometimes think you gotta leave it behind with religion if you're an atheist, like there's some monopoly over holidays.
  6. Might as well throw in my two cents. I'm an atheist since 15 (technically threw my belief out of the window even earlier, but the idea behind atheism formed in my mind around that point). As an atheist from a religious family, I should tell you that it's fine to believe. My family is still religious and I talk to them still. I also perform the rituals and ceremonies expected of me - sometimes - because even though I'm an atheist, I do enjoy maintaining a tradition. I held a traditional wedding when I married, because I like the ceremony. I firmly believe that one must reach their own conclusions, based on their observation of the world around them. Mine just so happens to conclude that reality is maintained by a system of laws and mechanisms, rather than an almighty curator.
  7. I wouldn't. You need diseases to improve your immune system - it serves to protect you against more than just germs.
  8. I usually stay in bed, but if I'm particularly energetic I'll watch TV or play some video games to pass time.
  9. My girlfriend (or now wife, in fact), loves me in actions beyond words. She helps me achieve what i need, even if it's not exactly what i want sometimes. This is the truest loyalty i could hope for, and the reason i married her.
  10. Humanity has access to resources other mammals do not, such as science and technology. I think that if you took these from us, we'd die decades earlier due to diseases and other natural causes. Keep in mind that during the Stone age you'd probably be lucky to reach the ripe old age of 20.
  11. My code of ethics is basically a search for self-enlightenment. I wouldn't exactly call it a teaching, but my philosophy is as follows: -One must have the audacity and passion to act with meaning behind their actions. -One must find their aesthetics and beliefs, such that they may remain true to them and free of inner conflicts. -One must learn to conquer their negative emotions and fears instead of denying them. -One must remain steadfast and loyal to those who are important to them. The bonds which you make with friends and family are the ones that regulate the content which flows into your life. -One must always attempt to be the best version of themselves possible. To accept anything short of this is to surrender to inner turmoil. -There is no shame in one's failures. There is only shame in inaction. -Always seek to learn and evolve, in a variety of fields. To do anything less is to remain a fossil of yesterday in today's world.
  12. I have a Bsc in computer science that I completed not long ago. I'm kind of conflicted about what to do next; I could go for a second bachelor's (preferably in electrical engineering) for a bit of extra versatility in the job market, or I could go for a my master's because I genuinely like theoretical knowledge and enjoyed the material taught in my bachelor's. I honestly don't know where to go next, but I'll figure it out.
  13. It's been at least over a decade. Can't remember exactly.
  14. I like both, but the salt on peanuts during long travel makes me thirsty, so I'd go with a pretzel instead.
  15. I don't mind vegans as long as they stay away from my plate. I don't tell them what they ought to eat, and they shouldn't tell me what I ought to eat. I like meat and other animal products, and I don't care about whether they're healthy or not. I also strongly dislike manipulation, lies and misinformation that some people spread to make other people follow their dietary habits. If i could, I'd cook the entire goddamn animal kingdom and eat it too, I'm well past tricks like "eww eggs are chicken periods". Basically, as long as you're cool with me eating meat, I can respect your diet, even if it's for reasons like conscience, or dislike for the taste or whatever.
  16. There's a thread like this every once in awhile, isn't there? Anyways, I'm from Israel, nice to meet you!
  17. I'm a 1.89 meters tall guy, Google tells me it's 6'2", supposedly. Honestly, I wish I could donate some of my height to someone else. Banging my head against stuff and always hearing my back crack as I crouch to pick up stuff close to the floors is irritating, to say the least.
  18. The short answer would be Yes. Personally? I don't see the need to celebrate my birthday. I couldn't care less about presents and honestly it's just enough to spend a day with your loved ones in my opinion. It does not have to be a specific day. However, the reason i do celebrate is because my family sort of forces me into it. They see every such event as important. Out of respect to my family and its' tradition, i celebrate.
  19. I usually watch a video on YouTube, some TV, or listen to my favourite playlist. I like doing little to no activity.
  20. Nowadays that my presence here has diminished, I usually visit via my phone.
  21. The correct answer would be "when I'm tired", but that usually means 10:30pm as I wake up at 6am. Sometimes I could go at midnight if I want to spend time doing something I like.
  22. I have no religion. You could call me an atheist but I don't really believe in the need to label the inexistence of an attribute.
  23. It's almost cynical to think that results reported by consumers are treated as yet another test phase. Big pharma is a business, it works like a business. It strives to make temporary achievements in order to satisfy a mediocre crowd and maintain it's market. It's an Oligapoly, where a small number of powerful companies holds absolute economic power - some are even just subsidiaries of one another.
  24. I think there's a prejudice towards gap relationships because people might assume one is just looking for a sugar daddy/mama, and as such this is a superficial and a shallow relationship worthy of ridicule. Personally I don't think it's fair to judge people on their life choices even if they end up with a partner for such a reason, but I think I can understand why it angers some people.
  25. I despise littering with a passion. I'm not even sure why, I just think it's infuriating that some people can't be bothered with the least of troubles and instead push their problems on others.
