  1. I can't count how many times I moved. Most of those were when I was a kid. I've been at my current place for over a decade. I'm not a fan of moving because it's stressful trying to adjust to the new surroundings and people.
  2. Mid to late 1800's is my favorite time period. Firearms and ammunition technology really advanced after the invention of the percussion cap and later black powder cartridges.
  3. George H.W. Bush was president when I was born.
  4. Indoors - a little. I sleep with a dim red night light. Outdoors - No. My night vision is very good. Plus, I'm an amateur astronomer. I can't be afraid of the dark.
  5. 60 hours. It was right after hurricane Katrina hit. I was a small engine mechanic at the time. The shop I worked at put a priority on chainsaw and generator repair.
  6. I don't think the show has affected my life much. I didn't become a fan until a year ago, but I will say this: The show is great at lowering blood pressure!
  7. Venus as a crescent... my favorite. In a bout a week, the planet will disappear into the evening twilight sky as it passes between the Earth and Sun. This is known as Inferior Conjunction. Luckily, this period is brief and the planet will appear in the morning sky around the 1st week of November or so. The crescent phase will then be on the opposite side of the planet. I imaged the planet in broad daylight, which gives me an altitude advantage. I also imaged in the Near IR spectrum. This eliminates the problem of atmospheric dispersion and the sky becomes black; otherwise, the background would be bright blue. Shining at -4.5 magnitude, Venus is bright enough to be seen in the afternoon without optical aid. It's pretty neat!
  8. I'm hoping to prevent it by continuing to lift weights.
  9. Thankfully, no. Last 2 tests were normal. Diabetes runs in my family and is of great concern to me. Most in my family above 50 has it and other health problems.
  10. Happy Smile Day from Venus!
  11. Caught a break in the clouds. Venus crescent phase was there smiling at me in the finderscope. Happy Smile Day from Venus! :)

Maybe the most fascinating smile I've seen today! :wau: Thanks, and the same to you and Venus too! :yay:

      Beautiful picture!:D

  12. Cartoons, stargazing, and being around family makes me happy and smile.
  13. There aren't enough energy drinks to get me to jump as much as Pinkie Pie.

  14. Thanks for the Smile badge, my friend!

      No problem, you deserve it!

  15. Anyone with SNES games and such with save batteries knows the clock is ticking. Have any of y'all had to replace a game save battery? I replaced the batteries in all of my SNES games that had one a couple years ago. I was able to find info online showing how to solder a temporary battery to keep the memory "hot" while you remove the old one. Worked on all of mine, except Donkey Kong Country.
  16. He he. This is cute.

Indeed, these two are so adorable... ^_^

  17. I missed my chance to image Venus' thin crescent phase. Clouds rolled in during the evening hours. Hope Rainbow Dash keeps the sky clear tomorrow because the opportunities are diminishing rapidly as the planet begins to disappear into the Sun's glow.

I'm sorry to hear that, my friend. :( I hope Dashie does what she's supposed to, and you get those images! :kindness:

If I miss it, Venus will appear in the morning sky sometime around December. I can still catch the thin crescent phase. It will just be on the opposite side of the planet. :mlp_wink:

That sucks. Hopefully you'll be able to nab those images tomorrow.

  18. The mosquitoes are really bad in the deep south. I don't get bitten often tho. When I'm outside with a telescope, I usually have a powerful fan blowing on me. The mosquitoes stick around but can't seem to land on me.
  19. I don't know why, but I find Sunset Shimmer's sad face to be adorable!

It definitely is... :rarity: Though I still prefer Starlight's face in that same scene (you know which one). :)

Yeah, I love that face! :pinkie: How do they make these ponies so adorable? ^_^

  20. I imaged Uranus last night with the Celestron C8 telescope. I am looking forward to imaging the planet with the 16 inch telescope. Mars is steadily appearing smaller and dimmer. One thing that has recently stood out is the polar ice cap. It is shrinking rapidly! Lastly, a long exposure of the Triangulum Galaxy. Same camera settings as the Andromeda image. Enjoy!
  21. I pretty much just watch the show and some fan made content. I really enjoy other's statuses with cute pony artwork and interacting with friends on here. Also, sharing things I enjoy doing that aren't MLP related is also fun. Lots of fun can be had with some status updates. Hope that helps some.
  22. I recently bought a shortwave ultraviolet light bulb. I plan to use it as a light source for UV photography. When it's on, anything white glows violet.
  23. Eating breakfast. Got some pine trees to plant on the property in a little while.
  24. My 1st Uranus image of the 2018 apparition with the 8 inch telescope. I can't wait to see what my 16 inch telescope can do!

@Stone Cold Steve Tuna, thanks! :-D

@Tacodidra, I love the color too. It is unmistakable when looking at it thru the eyepiece. I can actually see the planet with the naked eye. It's near the edge of my vision and my skies are dark enough. It looks like an extremely faint background star.

      This pleases Sailor Uranus.

      See how pleased she looks?

  25. Flim and Flam would be good, but I would probably choose Mayor Mare. As mayor of Ponyville, surely she has pretty good knowledge of Equestrian law. Most politicians are lawyers, so there's also that.
