Since October, I have been told to listen to Wintersun, specifically Time I. Apparently it was a masterpiece. I can say with absolute certainty that it is a masterpiece. Why did I not check them out earlier?

 

I really liked how Time I came out, that being said it was an 8 year wait. Those 8 years, time basically froze over waiting for new material from Jari. I still like his work with Ensiferum more, but it's a completely different style of music.

I actually haven't listened to any Ensiferum, though I have listened to fans of Wintersun talk about how much better than it is than Wintersun.

I'll check them out sometime.

 

I cannot get enough of this god-damn band.

I can't think of any other legitimate metal band that can get away with breakdowns, djent, intros that sound like they belong in a boyband's newest hit single, saxophones, and rap all in one magnificent package (with a naked lady on the front  )

Kalmah because Kalmah's fairly similar, and quite kickass.

Yeah, love that Wintersun song. Specifically the entry at 8:47. Their self-titled album is also pretty good, like their new one more though.

I never got into black metal, but I can definitely go for some melodic death from time to time. I just wish I got to see Insomnium when they were playing literally an hour away.

By getting into I mean actively picking them over other bands to listen to. I still like a few of the bands like Agalloch, Falkenbach, Enslaved, Moonsorrow, and Wolfchant. There's still so much of the genre that I just can't get into it as a whole.

I actually don't think many of the songs are that bad on St. Anger, to me it's just like the last 3 tracks or so that truly suck in terms of composition. All the other songs, though, if you pretend that it's not Metallica...it's actually fairly decent, I think. Certainly better than anything you'll hear on KDON, that's for sure...

I used to really like them for some reason, so much cheese over so many years got to me. I still love power metal, but I tend to stay away from Hammerfall.

It's alright, but my main niche is going after folk metal bands. It's like the genre has an instant switch to get my head bobbing, and get my feet tapping
