I'm a unicorn! Yes! In all honesty, I really love this update. Nice to see your continuing to do amazing artistic stuff on the forums! I remember when you were starting on the winter theme, and teaching me how to make signatures and use Photoshop. You're one of the nicest people I've ever met and one of the prime examples I used to introduce my dad on the subject of why I joined the brony community. Really. Thanks for all you've done.

Finally, in the interest of keeping the forums' interface clean and legible, I've removed the YouTube/deviantART/Steam links and your usergroup's name from the mini-profile that is shown beside your posts. The links on your profiles remain unaffected, and you can figure out someone's usergroup by their badge. Alternatively, hover over their username and a hovercard will appear displaying their usergroup as well as some other information.

 

I just wanted to say I liked the little buttons that showed up under the avatar. That's one thing I LOVED seeing on these forums, especially if they had a steam account. I didn't think they looked messy at all.

Will there ever be any detailed correspondence as to the rhyme or reason behind any or all given badges, or will those details intentionally remain a mystery for an undetermined amount of time, to prevent the community from having a meta-game mindset behind their interactions so that they can "Win the game [of getting all the badges]"?

 

If people are told how to obtain all the badges, they might prioritize that over actual participation in the forum as a community member, and make the post system just a control input for the meta 'game of badges' and because of that, the quality of posting would degrade: is the warning I bear from similar things happening in The Escapist Magazine forum.

 

I have negligible gravity in the administration of the website, just one voice of many. But this post's Question is that "Will we be told how to get badges? Yes or No." and thesis is "I recommend you don't tell us".

Lastly, I would be perfectly happy with my badge both being permanently being "Bird" and happier still with the color being edited to a soft blue shade.

Interesting. I remember there was talk about a ranking system like this when the forums first launched but we never got around to implementing it until now. I just hope members don't start spam posting to get higher ranks.
