Fluttershyfan94 5,742 May 6, 2020 #57 Share May 6, 2020 Good question actually and this is something I'm sure a lot of people feel very opinionated on so if this happens to be different from how you cook it then sorry but I choose to do it my way. What I do is actually, I usually put bacon on something depending on whether I'm eating it individually or not of course. The process of cooking bacon is one of precision many people live their lives never actually knowing how to actually cook bacon. You first have to know what the ingredient you are working with is, some bacons are more fatty others more meaty depending on which it is I have different methods if it happens to be fatty for example I typically prefer overcooking it. While that may not be the best taste, I'm not a fan of the fat on it so I overcook it to pretty much take it from the bacon. So what I do is I put some butter and preheat it when I can see the butter about to be ready I put it right in instantly you see it sizzling yes good sign now let it do so until you feel they look mostly meaty. Yet if the bacon happens to be meaty, I prefer using it with something. So what I do is I typically section it into pieces of bacon, then I cook it not too long just until I see it is cooked I want it to be perfect I recommend medium heat butter don't let it sizzle only heat it then put the bacon in you're cooking it to the point of being cooked nothing more then serve as you please. Early Sunsets 2,106 May 6, 2020 #60 Share May 6, 2020 (edited) Any bacon is good bacon, but I prefer it not crunchy, but not floppy, either. It shouldn't break if you bend it, but it shouldn't sag under its own weight very much. Sasoriman 136 May 19 #68 Share May 19 (edited) Cold start, as in laying the strips in a cold pan before heating it. It yields a crispier result, but produces as much grease as baking. I'm surprised I don't bake it seeing as there's no cleanup. Also, stir frying, cut into smaller pieces and tossed in a wok with scallions and noodles. IF I buy bacon, which I haven't been doing lately. Edited May 19 by Sasoriman
Arrlong28 790 May 20 #69 Share May 20 Hi! Normally I don't eat bacon, but when I do it is in a traditional Catalan (Barcelona) way that I am sure you will like. And I only eat it for breakfast. Fry the bacon with some olive oil. Use that same oil to fry the fries. Put enough olive oil in the pan and fry two eggs, throwing the oil several times on the yolk so that it turns pink. Take hard toasted bread of your choice and (if you like spicy) peel a clove of garlic and rub it on the bread. Then you cut a large, soft tomato in half and rub it on the bread. Put a little salt and olive oil. If you can drink alcohol, a glass of red wine. If you can't (as is my case) red grape juice. And now you have the bread to dip in the egg yolk, put the bacon on the bread or eat everything to your liking. There will be plenty of "flavored" olive oil left over. You have to save it in a ceramic pot to reuse it again and will get more flavor! Bon Profit! (Enjoy your meal)
