Most Beautiful Sight You Have Seen

One of the most common beautiful sights you'll see when living in Scandinavia, is Nordlys/Polarlys (english: Aurora).

You can read about it here; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aurora - but this is basically what it looks like. It's absolutely beautiful.  -_-

Seeing the Eiffel Tower in person. It blew my mind away. It goes to show that it doesn't feel the same seeing a picture of it compared to seeing it in person.

All my life needed was a sense of someplace to go. I don't believe that one should devote his life to morbid self-attention. I believe that someone should become a person like other people.

The view from the campsite we stayed at when I was on a trip to Italy (Thanks over-funded PE dept. We love you!) We were in the mountains, snow-capped peaks lay a few kilometres away, air was thin and clear, clouds were below us in the valley. The sun was clear and bright like nothing I've ever seen before (and I live in a semi-rural area), and it was beautiful...At its best in broad daylight, so you could really admire its colours.

Also, late at night, the sodium streetlights. That soft orange glow, especially in a cold, thick fog, with nothing around except the occasional passing car a way away...It's just...Really, really nice. None of that elegance with the new white lights.

Finally: Germany.

When I first saw the country with my own eyes, I was amazed. I'm a UK bro, so other countries always seem phenomenally huge, and I saw it from the air. It must have been late afternoon, clear skies, thick snow on the ground, of such a pure white it actually shone. Germany really is a beautiful country...

i would have to say the cityscapes when its nighttime, i think it looks so cool and relaxing. i would also say mountains with snow and trees on it, for some reason it seems to make me escape realism and just day dream looking at them.

I haven't seen too much of the world myself, but, I remember when I was in Ireland for summer holiday one year... It was nighttime, and the stars were out, clearer than I could ever see them back in the town where I live. But it wasn't just the stars that caught my attention, it was also the sight of civilisation in the distance. The lights of another town, so far away, gracing the night like the stars above... Nature and humanity, coexisting and shining so brightly- but neither one too brightly- was so inspirational to see. I wish the two didn't have to compete in other parts of the world; if that sight meant anything, it meant that they could make a great team :)

My first soulmate, when we're going out to celebrate our 1st anniversary together. She was... radiant! :yay:

If we're talking about sights in nature, so far nothing I've ever seen beats the mountain range in west Sumatra. Green trees all over the hills and steep cliffs, there's no sign of human presence anywhere other than this big honking cellphone tower built there to support a nearby village. It was kind of ironic, but beautiful in its way.

I drove Snake Pass the other day, which is a road that cuts right through the hills and alongside a lake, between Manchester and Sheffield. There was still thick snow covering the ground, and it was sunset. Best drive I've done in a while. Would've stopped for a picture, but there was nowhere to pull over.

There's just something about driving through the hills in the snow though. Quick pic from another drive. It was snowing pretty heavy, so you couldn't see more than 15 metres ahead.

There's several places, actually, but the one that comes to mind first is Banff National Park in BC, Canada.

Yes, Lake Louise really is that blue.

Another place, where I used to live, is Mendocino in Northern California, US.

Finally, Yosemite National Park, especially on the Merced River near Half Dome (I live about 40 miles from there, now.)

Yep. I guess I've been pretty fortunate to see such places and even live in one.

Well, I think this one time when I was walking around my neighborhood on a windy fall day, this golden yellow tree suddenly started to blow leaves in all directions, and I just found it really pretty.

Cities at night, from the window of a plane.

The night sky when it's clear and truly dark.

The absolutely stunning smile of my girlfriend.

And lastly the most unique sight I've seen: Black lightning. This one sounds strange but let me explain. Sometimes when there's a thunderstorm you don't see the arc of lightning, only the flash in the clouds. In this case I saw a lightning bolt, but farther back a much larger lightning bolt lit up the clouds, so the bolt I saw seemed black because of the bright light in the background. It probably sounds like I'm talking shit but it looked awesome.

Although it's kind of rare it does happen regularly around the Florida Gulf Coast so, yeah, I know what you're talking about.

No, you're not. "There are far more things in Heaven and Earth than are spoke of in your philosophy, Horatio." - Shakespeare. And, yeah, there's more things going on on this planet than most people could ever imagine. Not many of us get lucky enough to see such things, though. I could tell you some stories!

I'd love to hear them! Although unless they fit this thread it might be better to do that through PM if you want to tell me; probably best to stay on-topic here.

Yeah, we can do that in PM sometime. I don't want to derail the thread.
