Sorry if today's posts aren't top folks. Had a long day at work and have been pretty tired throughout most of the day in general, so I didn't have much energy to work with. Hope it'll do. :)

@Blitz Boom

Sorry for the delay. Been feeling rather ill these past few days. :/

@Blitz Boom

Just need a clarification for something, this part specifically:

Rosa studied the letter some more, before turning it to show to the others, revealing that beneath the written equine, something else were scribbled down, that Rosa couldn't translate. They should likely be able to though, seeing as it were written in a code/language that were used by their kind.

*Darkness comes in waves of three. Two have passed, the third will come with the long shadows of what were. Beware the prisoner who wanders in chains of flesh, and fear his coming. You have not felt the last of his presence.*

Is this part suggesting either Sen or Lin could translate the scribbled text Rosa couldn't read?

@EQ_Theta

My apologies, I should have specified some more it seems.

Essentially, yes, you are correct. That text is there for them, and not Rosa. As I couldn't remember if the longma had any specific language or symbols or something, I tried to be vague on that part. It's just something not meant for Rosa to be able to read, but would be possible for longma to decipher.

As for the implications... Just consider it a more long term potential thing, that may never actually happen. I merely had a few thoughts of what might happen down the line for both of them, and wondered what I could do if it came to that. Having the crate suddenly come into play, I figured I could run with it and have a link to work with. Be it for what I may have planned for Rosa, or if say, a certain roleplayer wanted one of their villains back into things, or at least the threat of it happening. The finer details are something to work with in the long run, I'm sure.

Also, keep in mind that Rosa have no idea what this means, and have no way of knowing if a longma would be able to translate it. The two are free to keep it to themselves if they so chose, and he'd be none the wiser.

Hope this clears things up a bit :)

Sure did! Thanks.

Oh and before I forget, happy holidays!

@EQ_Theta

To you as well. :) No worries though, even when I won't have my PC on me here from Monday until January 2, I'll keep up making responses via phone. Just not the next two Tuesdays. My family would flay me if I started to write RP on Christmas Eve, and New Years. :D

Crickey, look at that festive kangaroo. :)

Seeing as we here in Denmark celebrate Christmas today, on the 24'th (reason why I won't be replying today) I might as well take the chance to wish you a merry christmas as well. :D

======================================

That goes for everyone here though. I'm hoping everyone will have a great evening, be it today  tomorrow, or hay, why not both? :) Now to find a christmas picture that fits... Let's see what Google suggests.

Google saya to celebrate with Santacord and his merry pondeers. Can't argue with that I"d say. :D

 Been a bit a fuss with my health... and being obsessed with the new pokemon and above all Arctozolt!

@Widdershins

Skipping out on reading due to pokemon is no excuse. I can do both, so can you. :P Hehe.

That aside, it's fine you're a bit sporadic, especially if there's health issues. Gotta make sure you take care of that first and foremost after all.

And sure, get a new char in, and see who bites. Could be fun. :)

Hey everyone, jusf letting you know that due to having a load of travel and stuff to get done on January 1th when I'm next set to post, I won't be posting there, so it will likely be 4 days until the next one. Maybe I can switch in a set on the 2th, but no promises. :)

Af that point, I'm also back at my PC, so there's less spelloig errors then hopefully. :D

Happy New Years everypony! Have a great evening, and try to enjoy yourself to the fullest.

And just to make sure something RP related comes into this: @EQ_Theta I am going with something I think @Widdershins once remarked on when it comes to Mother, (might have been @Seamore Sandwich though, can't remember) about her being essentially a draconequus instead of a reaper, whom have over the countless years forgotten and changed so much that she wholeheartedly believed her version of things. That is, until Mortimer opened her eyes.

It seemed interesting enough, and can give me something to toy with in the long run, though worry not, it won't really change the basics. She still sacrificed her essence to create the realm she lives in, and she will never be able to leave. Far too late for that.

If you want some theorizing on Draconequui @Blitz Boom, I can help with that.  Like, I don't think they should be portrayed as end-all Greek God-like stand ins that are the movers and shakers of events, rather the mere embodiment of Concepts and forces of nature... and from that, they can be forces used for big, dramatic change. But I like to think, foremost, is that Draconequui are defined by their not being defined.

 Like, it's so very clear they crafted Discord at the last moment for John De'Lancey because they didn't think a big name actor like him would ever say yes to it.... and forgetting his playful, jerkish sense of humor that would jump at a chance like this! Like, Discord is what he is, because he IS, man! If ya get the hash I'm slingin'!

 Besides, like to see them like classical Djinni. Phenomenal Cosmic power... but so tied into their Concept that they're easily trapped in magical items as power batteries, but still get to grant spiteful, snarky learn-a-lesson wishes to those who do free them.

 ...that aside, still mulling over what character to do more of... I kind of want to do my Hydra. Or rather, my six-pony-part and unfold the drama of them getting found out as a hydra. @Catpone Cerberus did mention that our part was a little light & breezy conversation, and they do seem to favor more convoluted story telling. And I'm surprised @Randimaxis hasn't come to this RP yet! (Not that I'm provoking chaos or anything here.)

... did someone say CHAOS?????

Discord_wearing_3D_glasses_S4E2.thumb.png.ab824bd27cb0bf822f8bc766c809ea3e.png

Y'know, part of my reasoning for not being here was the idea that folks probably wanted a break from me for a while, and I always feel kinda like I'm intruding when I ask to join a roleplay... plus, waaaaaaaaaaay back a while, I DID play in here a bit as Dax Blackwater, actually.  @Blitz Boom knows what I'm talking about.  In fact, that's why Blitz Boom came to the quarry to begin with - from their interaction here!

That being said...

*clears throat*  Ummmm... i-is there possibly room for me to join up?  I mean, like... again?

THIS time, however, I was hoping I could play something besides Dax, since Blitz is already in TBQ... I was hoping for a possibility of playing a race I've found to be fascinating, and I have a yearning to try it out, if that would be okay?

Can I play a Kirin?

(Please?)

@Widdershins

Essentially the same I think on the draconequui, though I also think that there are vast differences in power levels when it comes to them, which makes sme of them rise above the rest.

In the case of Mortimer, he's a more serious, no nonsense sort of draconequui, who were born of the concept of death, and grew weary of the frivolous idiocy his kind mostly employed. So he took some of the lesser draconequui (such as Mother) and convinced/forced them to leave with him to a more metaphysical plane of existence, where he'd be free of the tomfoolery, and could work on something that actually mattered in his eyes. Ferrying souls to their proper destinations would be one such thing, with the lesser ones employing something of his (we could go classic and say scythes) to actually be able to do so, and being kept in line about messing around. Given enough time and potential indoctrination, they could well become what he'd name *Reapers*, and either get used to and embrace the rules and meaning of their leader, or over time forget who they even where (like Mother did), and think nothing of it.

As to fit with things, where each one is a concept as you say, Mother may well have once been say... The Spirit of Maternity. She who cares for the young, and treat them as a mother would her children. Before everything, she'd nurture the ones left behind in some of her kinds madness, and use her powers to make them places of fantasy, where they could grow carefree until they were ready to face the world. A lesser one in my eyes, as she'd likely be seen as just someone who were just scrounging around the aftermath of their fun, but one who'd be possible to convince toe follow, by implying that the lost spirits were also scared, worried things that needed someone to help them.

Like you say though, they can easily be trapped by things. In her case, that's quite literal, with her essence being connected to this sub-realm. She can never leave again, unless there's some loophole I don't see. I dunno, not thought so far. xD

Anyway, off the top of my head, how I'm trying to mold things. But hey, I'm always ope for input, and I can imagine you must have around seven bulletpoints of issues so far. :)  Fire 'em off.

====================================================================================

@Randimaxis

Do you think I'd let you into my RP, just like that?

Of course I will!: :D You're awesome dude, and having you around would be a treat. Besides, you'd be the first Kirin here, which is rather neat.

Not sure what sort you'd prefer interacting with, though? If it's a bit free for all from my side, I have two groups I'm interested in getting somewhere with, who just haven't gotten far, but if you're more specific in your wants, I'll see what I have that fits your needs. :)

As for the ones I mention, it's the dragon/pony couple that is Benny and Circle Pop. And the long running family wherein all the female ones have strange connections to spirits, with one of the current members being Sorrow (Pegasus wanderer who gathers souls in her necklace as a sort of mobile therapy room) and Vivid Loss, their ancestor who's responsible for this strange affliction, where neither side are aware that the other exists.

But as said, I want to conform to what You want. So come now, tell lil' innocent Blitzy what you got in mind? :) I got enough chars to fit basically any situation, and can suggest 'em as needed. You may remember that's how you got a zegasus in your quarry in the first place. :P

The kirin idea I had was to have him as a scientist, intent on discovery and learning as much as possible - but he's not going to be a social recluse... he's just not going to be very good at it.  At first, anyways.

As for his 'triggers', so to speak?  Well... I figure that when it happens, it happens - he won't just explode for no reason, but it might be fun to see if anyone pushes him far enough to 'flame out', to coin a phrase.

As with many of my OCs, I really only have a baseline set up; the rest usually comes through roleplay.

Do you have any suggestions based on this?

@Randimaxis

Hmm... I do have some sciency folks, actually, though you may have to share some custody with @Rising Dusk on occasion. Shouldn't be a big issue I'd wager. :)

BGqWJe6.png

You know his sister, but this here's her older brother, Molotov Boom. And his pet mechanical spider (with faux fur) Carmen. He's a sciency lad, mostly focused on mechanical engineering granted, but as per the protocol of Center Zero after it were taken over, he have extracted all the scientific papers, and are in charge of making sure they make their way around to those who the scientists in the town pinned down as worthy of picking up where they left off, in case of emergency. In cases were those are no longer around, or none were marked, he just have them stockpiled and ready for when he finds someone he thinks is a good fit.

Might be this one would work for ya, seeing as there's be plenty of learning opportunities, and a chance of your kirin showing his specialty, and perhaps gaining something interesting for the time. Molotov however, is also kind of obnoxious, so he might push your kirin a bit too far. If not him, then Blitz (who lives with him now in this thread) could well do it. Or you know, his self made pets might creep your OC out. :) Just be thankful your kirin is not a female. Molotov gets especially pushy around those, though he isn't malicious or anything. Just not aware when it's best to stop talking, or not be as direct.

Oh right, they're situated in Manehattan too. There's that.

Let's see, who else... Hmm, perhaps more adventurous types that don't mind travelling, mingling, and helping out?

P9fqCMJ.png

This here's Double Chow. A pet food salespony raised among griffons, who could use a break on all the crazy he's been through here in the RP so far. He's pretty typical for an earth pony, and rather friendly, but does not have many pony friends due to him making all natural pet food. Which means that for example cat food, is made of actual self-hunted meat. Being formerly situated in Ponyville (now Canterlot) you can imagine there being some friction with Fluttershy because of that, as an example. He still makes a fair living, and works well in case you think your kirin gets attacked and could use some combat prowess. Be it griffons or hunting, Chow knows his way around a beating, and are more than happy to take part if need be.

ynHU5GC.png

Then there's Sorrow, who I mentioned earlier. Traversing the lands, helping out where she can since she considers it nice to make life easier for others, whilst also harboring lost souls in the necromantic focus of a large rodent skull in her necklace. The collective in there, calls themselves Legion, and they are essentially harmless. They're just sightseeing and easing issues with one another over time, until they feel ready to move on, and Sorrow gives them the last push, with extremely rare cases of poltergeist activity. Your kirin could easily run into her essentially everywhere, as she would be out seeing if someone needed help, or if she could hear some spirits somewhere. She cannot see them. Her gift is less pronounced than some in her family, and as such are more auditory than vision based.

CDu2NS2.png

I also got Amazon Lily. Member of the Coastal Guard, and on sick leave, after a surprise encounter with my draconequus Anomaly, caused her to accidentally get split up, and then reassembled wrong. So after massive corrective surgery and retraining, she's been ordered to take some time off, until she's properly healed up and ready to come back, so she's wandering Equestria and taking in the sights, and helping a bit here and there if possible. She's usually not too far from towns though, as she needs to get her wounds cleaned every second day. Again one that your kirin could run into anywhere.

0AOAL2X.png

If you want a real adventure though, I do have an adventurer, and this here's him: Billowing Smoke, or Smokey, as some calls him. A wealthy adventurer that enjoys experiencing the world, new cultures, and really getting into tombs and such. Partially to learn and extract things of historical value that he donates to the Canterlot Museum, and in parts to strip any non-historical valuables (such as gold bars or bits) to make his own, and sell interesting items on the grey and black markets. Legally he's squeaky clean, but you wouldn't believe the amount of cash he have to fork over to certain specialists for white washing his dough and appearing to be legit.

rAUPBLb.png

H4kcVq7.png

Benny and Circle Pop, whom I mentioned in an earlier post. Usually Benny's busy at his forge in the Canterlot Armory for the two branches of Royal Guards, but due to recent attacks, he's gotten injured, and have been told to take a few days off by his superiors. His marefriend also insisted on it, as she have gotten concerned about him after that, and want to spend some time with him. Her candy store is currently situated in Ponyville, so they don't meet as often as they'd like, but she's saving up between business trips and buying outlandish ingredients, to eventually open a specialty candy store in Canterlot.

They're both incredibly friendly, and Benny in particular likes to help others and learn about all sorts of cultures and beings he haven't met. Kirins are among those he have not interacted with yet, so there could be some interest towards your OC from that angle, and I can have them be basically wherever, including outside of Equestria, due to his time off.

Benny's pretty gullible and doesn't take offense all that often (he's sorta jaded on that, as dating a mare sometimes gives him some less than kind comments from both ponies and dragons) so if you're wanting to connect with someone and not have them bear a grudge, this might be the right fit. Plus, if your OC likes sweets. Pop is great at making them, and Benny loves to eat them.

Oh right, before I forget, he's only about a half head taller than Pop, who is regular mare sized. He wanders on all four usually though, and are about twice her length if you count from tail tip to nose. So not a massive, hulking beast here, if that might be a concern.

sc0YEXf.png

Might as well pop in two more honestly, to make a bit of a selection. This here's Vivid Loss, a mare who sold her spirit to demons for youth and power, and ended up used by them for it, until Discord trapped her after they sent her to him to demand he submitted. During her entrapment, her masters perished, leaving her free of their control, and after being found in the crystal kingdom a few months past, ended up convincing the royals there to not trap her again, and guided them in putting her on a contract akin to what she were on before, so she works for them now. The contract puts massive limits on what she can do to others, so she is literally not able to kill, and can only detain. Harm is only in extreme circumstances, where she is given direct permission by her contract holders.

Mostly she just wanders around, trying to get used to the world as it is now, and find some sort of new meaning in it all. Also, she wants to meet up with Twilight or some other smart being in time, since she cannot bear much in the way of cold, which is why she's packed thickly in special clothing to add a lot of heat to her. Without this on, even a summer breeze will feel like ice to her, which is a side effect of the demonic influence she'd like to have some help with. A smart being such as your kirin, could well be one she'd throw her lot in with to see if he could in time help, whilst also just trying to mingle with another species, since she'd not doing well with ponies so far.

She also have some emotional moments where she goes a bit unstable, but that's one of the reasons why her contract were worded to keep her in check, so that accidents doesn't happen in those situations.

She's old, knowledgeable, and would likely just feel cozy if your kirin flared up, so she might be one that he'd find interesting.

2uHij2p.jpg

And then there's my reformed Changeling Queen, Onache. Still getting used to trying to get along with others, and as the former, self imposed slaver queen, she got a lot of bad history outside Equestria that she have to try and move past now that she came here, and got converted to this version. There's a lot of struggling, and ponies are weird to her to try and connect with, as they have always only been manual labor and food to her, so trying someone from another species she have never even seen, could well be seen as a first step in her mind to try and make some sort of connections out there.

She's more of a wild card, as again, she's not used to being nice, and struggles with how things are supposed to be now. But still, a wild card thrown in seemed like a fun time all things considered. :) Gives more options.

And that's basically it. I had a few in mind,t hen got on a roll, so... Eh, pick and chose all ya like. Ask further questions if need be. ^_^

WOW, there are so many GOOD OCs there!  I am beside myself with shock and awe - I knew you were good, @Blitz Boom, but DAMN, that's impressive!  I can't even figure out which one I'd wanna RP with - heck, I wanna roleplay with 'em ALL!!!!!  :pinkie:

Okay, I guess it's only fair for it to be my turn, right?  Lets see what I can come up with, here...

=] Clever Spark [=

Male Kirin, 22 Summers old

A bit taller than an average Kirin yet also skinnier as well, Clever Spark is the child of an analytic chemist (Beaker Burner) and a minorly-famous soul singer (Wailing Pyre), whose whirlwind romance led to a happy marriage.  An only child, he was encouraged and nurtured to be whatever he wanted to be; he ended up favoring his mother, and spent many countless hours in her laboratory, learning what he could from her ingenious experiments.  His connection to his father was solidified my their shared love of music, especially sad or somber tunes with soul in the singer's voice.  He made them both proud, excelling in every course he could study, and eventually graduating at the top of his class as a Valedictorian with high hopes for his future.

Unfortunately, a laboratory accident left the poor fellow with a father who was now mute, scarred and sickly... and no mother at all.  He set aside his own dreams and began working wherever he could get it, including such labors as fruit picking, construction cleanup, and restaurant busboy; since the accident, he just couldn't bring himself to even *glance* at a test tube, much less experiment.  As he wasn't exactly very physically adept, he never got any raises or promotions, and sometimes he barely managed to stay employed, as he struggled to keep up with the more able-bodied employees.

It was his father's fortune that helped turn things around for them both, as Pyre finally won on one of his lottery tickets; the sum of bits he received was enough to allow him to retire to a well-rated care home, and ensured that 'Sparksy' (his parents' pet name for him) never had to slave away again in any measure for anypony.  Though he told his father he would gladly spend the rest of his life at his side, Pyre (though his writing tablet) spoke of how proud he was of his son, and that his only wish was to see Sparksy doing what he loved once again.

Though it took a bit of time to get over his fears and sorrows, the Kirin began to delve into science again, and he quickly got right back into step with modern trends and information about what discoveries had been made.  Even his initial hesitancy blew away on the wind as he was fascinated at so much knowledge that was out there still waiting to be discovered.  He spent five years getting back into the habits he'd once had with his favorite subject, and his father encouraged him to seek out his own destiny in the great nation of Equestria.

Hugging his father goodbye (and making a personal promise to visit him whenever he could), he left his home and his father to seek out and learn as much as he possibly could.  In the past few years, he's written papers on a number of scientific studies, and a few of them were even included in scientific digests and magazines - though not many outside of the science community would have ever heard of him.

Now, he continues to study anything and everything he can get, trying his hardest to become as great and respected a scientist as his mother once was... perhaps even greater, should the opportunity present itself.  With science on his mind and a soulful tune in his heart, he is always seeking out his next big discovery.

Merits:

Sparksy has a vast intellect that he utilizes to the best of his efforts.  He speaks rather intellectually, and has a curious and surprisingly inventive mind that always seeks out a creative solution to his problems.  Due to his father's monetary gifts, he is rather rich... yet lives simply most of the time, and has a humble nature about him.  He gets excited at the prospect of learning new things, and has a natural talent for chemistry in particular.  He can be generous and kind to others, and has a soft spot for foals who have lost something dear to them.  He can be patient when it matters, and always tries to be kind when explaining his science to others, ensuring they don't feel foolish or dumb with his explanations.

Flaws:

Due to his vast time spent in a laboratory, he doesn't have very many social skills, and can often be seen as a bit of an awkward weirdo.  He has a timid nature that could easily be manipulated or pressured, and he often feels like he doesn't belong with others.  He  has trouble being assertive, and easily folds in heated arguments, allowing others to win by simply surrendering his point rather than making a problem bigger.  He does not take well to teasing, as he has difficulty with not understanding the intent between good and bad-natured kinds.  Though it takes a lot to push him over the edge, he has a fiery temper that he finds frightening to express, and has a lot of pent-up anger and shame in himself that he simply tends to bottle up and (try to) ignore.  He dislikes his other nature, and tries to repress it at any cost, even if he has to run away or hide.  He also has a dark secret that he guards with every fiber of his being.

Physical Description:

Sparksy is tall and lanky for a Kirin.  His red horn creeps up his skull and splits into a three-tined fork, and is usually well-polished and cared for.  He has a trim and slightly curly orange mane, and a braided tail-tip that is long and quite luxurious when he lets it out.  He has bright green eyes and a soft silver coat, and his facial ridge and hooves are an amber color.

When he finally DOES lose his cool, he flames up to become his darker self, which sports the usual looks of a Nirik, except that he also exudes a silvery mist from his eyefires and tailtip that smells of brimstone and charcoal, and stings the eyes of anyone who is unfortunate enough to take a wisp to the face; it gives his tail the appearance of a lit fuse.

Does that sound good enough?

@Randimaxis

Looks like a fine character to me. Take this big ol' Approved stamp and smash it right on his face. :D

I can also say that I think I know which one(s) might be the best here, after reading the backstory, as I do have one who can relate quite a bit. That being Vivid.

Even back before her current predicament, she were an outsider who barely made it, she have lost family (three foals, two of which resented her, and the last never knew who she were), whom she had to personally help move on after they passed, which are one of her larger emotional issues. Music is nothing she's any good at, but she enjoys hearing and experiencing it, which gives them several things they can relate to one another through. Plus as mentioned, he is not able to harm her with fire, in case worst came to worst, and the smell of brimstone and charcoal wouldn't exactly be an unprecedented smell to face for the mare.

I would however, also include this one I had forgot to put on the list into that.

NtDBSw8.png

Belladonna Venin. Alchemist, with a specialty in poisons. She works as an assistant to a successful owner of a construction company, but she comes from an upbringing in a cult that she defected from at an early age, as her analytical mind kept putting questions to things that were not well answered, and she had enough of their reeducation attempts. (nothing violent). She ran off, eventually fell over a zebra village and studied with them for a few years, before a changeling attack resulted in her getting abducted. She showed up a half year later in Canterlot, dishelved and desperate for help, which her current boss provided. This is in part why she have dedicated herself so much to ensuring he gets the best help she can provide, as she feels like she owes him, though due to her over-analytical mind, she tends to go to far. Up to and including having timed how long it takes when he starts to cry, the varied stages of his emotions, and other things that goes towards a more stalkery tendency.

She's not an angry or dour pony, but due to her analytical mind, she does not smile often, and more looks upon others as if she's sizing them up, which makes her seem cold to some. Consider her more neutral in it, and someone who might be of interest to someone thinking of alchemy.

And I'd have an easy way for the three of them to run into one another: Belladonna could be in the woods, gathering ingredients for one of her tests or poisons, and Vivid would have sought her out, wondering if one with a lot of knowledge of chemicals like this could help in a non-magical fashion. Clever could stumble across them on his way.

Though, I think a smarter one would be to go towards Belladonna eventually, but start with Vivid, somewhere. I think starting off with 1 char will allow for some connection to be made before it branches out. And hey, who knows? Wandering around, they may well run into all or some of the others. :)

Just my suggestion though. Your thoughts on this matters. :)

Y'know, that works well for me.  I like both the OCs, and I'm also humbled and flattered that you're allowing me to play in your world; most folks just come to mine.  *chuckle*

Sounds good - just give me a mention in the initial post for me, and I'll be there with bells on.  Like, LITERALLY - I have bells; I'll put them on if you want.  ^_^

Hum. I do suppose you'd want a bit of a forewarning if I introduced a whole family of related OCs, @Blitz Boom

 I'm flirting with the idea of having the first one come to the mayor or Twilight in help finding his lost siblings, while another is coming in from the opposite side of town, unaware that their brother is looking for them. This way there can be a multitude of interactions all happening simultaneously to work towards the same endgoal, right?
