I saw some NSFW pictures somewhere and said, "what the heck is this? Oh yeah, I bet it's from some pony show that's supposed to be on." So yes, technically cloppers got me into My Little Pony.

It didn't ruin the experience at all, though. I checked out the first episode on YT and was quickly hooked. :)

One simple way to say; Youtube.

I used to watch random videos a lot (usually tf2). I had lots of days just watching random videos on youtube. Then I started to see ponies everywhere and three letters that always used; MLP. Then I was like; "Is this My little pony? Lol what about it?" I watched random pony videos and found them really humorous. MLP had the greatest fads and videos that youtube could ever had. So I watched the first actual episode, it wasn't bad at all. I watched another episode everyday. It was fairly my best days in the internet. MLP seemed like a huge undiscovered fandom and it was like endless to me, everyday something fresh and really entertaining. I watched videos, listened fan made songs and looked around for art. And also it was a secret and It made it even more fun somehow.

I talked about it to my best bud. He was ok with it and liked it. I bet he would watch if he knew English better. And also I talked about it to another friend of mine and it took like a few days to make him believe. I showed him stuff like EQD and he was convinced. He still denies to watch ponies anyway. It is hard to make him watch a video about ponies.

So that's how I got into ponies. I am not enthusiastic as I used to be now. I even have been very lazy about episodes this season. I would have watched them so later if some friends hadn't told me to watch already.

I have no idea why I have given so much information for such a simple question.

One of my friends called me a faggot about 99999 times a day for not watching it.

...?

Well that's a new one.  I don't know whether to condemn this friend or give them a brohoof.  I can honestly say that I never thought I would hear that sentence.

14th January 2013, which was 5 days ago as of this post. Before that I didn't think much of My Little Pony apart from it looks cool. It was only this week that I decided to actaully watch some episodes, and well... now I'm here :) .

I was pretty neutral about the whole brony phenomenon for a while - I saw YTPMVs using pony sources and various images involving MLP. I thought the Pony Thread Simulator videos were funny (also horribly disturbing at times), without getting into the mindset that all bronies were like that. So it was relatively easy for me to get right into it.

@Ninjaneer, an IRL friend of mine, was a brony for a while and eventually sort of coaxed me into watching it. Never really forced it upon me, just mentioned it every once in a while. Eventually I got curious enough and downloaded seasons one and two around the beginning of November 2012. Got hooked pretty quickly and finished watching it all before season 3 premiered.

While I was watching the first two seasons, I never really considered myself a brony. I just watched the show and enjoyed it. Eventually, though, after joining this forum and whatnot, I decided that I had pretty much become the definition of a brony. Couldn't avoid it any longer. I'd downloaded wallpapers, re-watched videos, referenced catchphrases, and contributed to the community in some way. I had become.... a brony. *cue Beethoven's 5th Symphony*

tl;dr  It was mostly @Ninjaneer's fault, but in the end I started watching the show of my own accord.

I was watching minecraft videos on youtube, and the poster mentioned that he had delayed making the video for a couple of weeks because he had been pulling a MLP marathon instead of playing minecraft.

I had lots of free time (at that time) so I started watching it as a joke. Then I watched it because I liked it after watching the 3rd or 4th episode.

And to all things comes an end. We are no more than pages in a book.

Turn the page, and thousands die. And for what? For the greed of two powerful leaders.
Turn the page and floods, earthquakes and volcanoes are destroying the world.

It is a time for acts of despair and of bravery as well.

Another turn of the page and countless refugees flee. Is this the end of the story? No.

There are countless pages to turn. And to all things comes a beginning!

My friend showed me this YTP video of the show, and I had never heard of the show before, but it looked kinda good from what I could tell. So I looked it up and watched a few episodes and ended up getting hooked on it.

I started out as a bit of a hater but I had peer pressure(which was imaginary because my brony friends didn't talk about it often) so I finally said screw it. The change was slow at first, a lot of conflicting emotions, long story short I watched an episode instantly liked it, and here I am today! :)

I had seen various things related to pony... Teens React to MLP, for one... Also, @@Squid had sent me a video of Rarity saying, "Of all the worst things that could happen, this is THE. WORST. POSSIBLE. THING!" In response to some YouTube change, I think. xD He was really who got me into it, for which I am ever so very grateful. :3 I started watching it one night on my iPod. I watched just the first episode, and the next day, I told my sister how I had watched it, and she was disapproving. xD I had to watch the second episode to find out what happened. So, I was really hooked from the first episode! :D Of course, I slightly doubted it and why so many guys liked it, but I kept at it. :D

Well let's see

How did I become a brony you ask.

Well I'll tell you

It all started......yesterday

JK, JK

(by the way if you got the reference you get a gold star, not sure what your going to do with it, but you get one).

It happened back in summer of 2012

*fades to the past*

I was in my house just watching random videos. I started watching these reviews for cartoons done in a way that were entertaining and sometimes Humerous. I watched several and basically started to watch reviews for random shows i didn't know about. One of the shows that was reviewed was My little pony Freindship is magic. While watching they mentioned bronies and the fandom. They mentioned points as to why the show is appealing to the older audience. Now I was curious and this review did make the show look good, so I gave it a chance (plus I was bored and had nothing to do so I was like "what the hell, might as well watch this). I watched the first two episodes and found it good. It was when I was in the "dragonshy" episode that I realized I was in that episode on my own free will. I had become the thing I thought I wouldn't become.

That's when I realized I had Become a Brony.

I am a Brony!!

*fades back to present*

and to this day I don't regret what I did nor will I ever. I am a brony and will continue to be one dispite what others may say. Well now you know my story.

After I watched the first two seasons, I didn't consider myself a brony, but just liked the show. Then one day, I saw this video.

Then about a day later, saw this one:

Then I listened to Flutterwonder by PinkiePieSwear, and some of his other music.

Then at one point, I started opening up to more of the brony culture, such as other musical pieces, parodies, and just being a bigger and bigger fan every day. Then I considered myself a brony.

I was on Youtube one day when I found this song called "The Gypsy Bard". I like the idea of Gypsies so I listened to it. I noticed it was an MLP inspired song but didn't think much of it for a while. After talking to a friend that was a brony I decided I would watch one episode, just one, and I did. I remember the episode being the one where Fluttershy learns to assert herself and I remember laughing a lot. A week later I decided to watch the first episode, then the next, then the next and then I was hooked. It all started with that song though.

It's almost biblical for me to type this now, i've said it that many times haha.

Alright im gonna shorten it.

You guys ever watch RoosterTeeth/Achievement Hunter on the YouTubes?

Well long story short i've been a fan for a long time, Michael Jones from Rage Quit - his gamertag is MLP Michael. Originally I was all "No way, that can't mean MLP, that's a kids show! Why does Michael like it?!" Then I thought it was a joke, until I watched his video with Ray, and saw both their MLP shirts and I was like ... alright...I gotta see this for myself.

I think it probably took 2 hours for me to be hooked on the show, and being around my age in my situation - it really couldn't have happened at a better time for me.

I became a brony when someone warning me to not become one told me about it. At that point, I already heard a little bit about it and he was squawking about how it's a girls show and what not. So I was like, "let me see a few episodes to see the commotion." 3 episodes later, I came to him and told him his plan backfired and was now a brony.

Heard it about on 4chan, youtube and reddit. I saw how popular this show has gotten. At first I was like "How are ponies popular with an older audience?". So I browse and watch the first few episodes of the show and then I got why. It is an amazing show with good characters and an interesting and colorful world that isn't cynical and dark like everything has to be these days for some reason. And now I'm a brony and love the show for it being great and even more for the amazing community of caring individuals who go out of their way to help others.

I have a pretty interesting story on that. Well, I haven't seen a thread like this before so, I was wondering if any of you people out there had one too.

Your topic, 'How did you become a brony', has been merged with 'How and when did you become a brony?' as the later covers the basis question.

I don't remember exactly when, it was sometime mid-season 1. A guy I knew (brony) sent me pictures over facebook of pony porn. I was all like "da fuq?", it was funny because I was so confused and he'd swear up and down it wasn't pony porn just something innocent like puppies. He'd claim it was me who was being weird and perverted.

Then a really close friend sent me a link to Flutterguy singing Evil Enchantress and I was like "Whoa...that's cool. Da fuqs this?" and he was like "It's MLP:FIM bro." So I watched the first episode, then the second, and third, and fourth, and fifth, then all of season 1, then season 2, etc etc.

It later occured to me that the first guy was sending me pony porn. I was all "EW...well you know ain't awful..."

Now I'm a brony.

ummmmmm i had heard about bronies and one of my friends being one but i had never actually thought that bronies were people that watched MLP or that MLP had even existed... i remember being a bit puzzled and ribbing my friend a bit for watching "ponies" because thats what he said he watched and since i didnt have any ideas as to whether it was some kinda like real live animal kingdom show or animation or etc i was quite thrown off.... i remember like months after that finally hearing him bringing it up again and i said you still watch ponies on national geographic or something? i felt so stupid when he finally explained and  i felt horrible for the slight ribbings i gave him as a joke too, even though i had no idea

i tried it out that day and well lets just say

<- this right here sold me, up to that part and a little afterwards i was like.. im not sure if this is something guys watching would be socially accepted by others (im terrified of being judged by others not as much as i used to be though :P) but i decided to stick with it and just watch it, and i gotta say im glad i did, love the brony community, the fandom and everything! i ended up doing a full 2 season maratho btw, thats how hooked i got after a while (id say around episode 6 was when i was fully sure i would continue watching the show and become a full time brony) because up till that point time seemed to fly by so quickly and my mind was in a slight kinda daze from the, ummm..... cuteness overload? I became a Brony a few months ago. My boyfriend was already one and I do admit I teased him mercilessly about it. Then he dared me to actually sit down and watch it.. annndddd I did. Now look at me. I love the show and I do owe him an apology still.

i became a brony in january. the first time i even heard of MLPFiM was after watching an episode of MAD on Cartoon Network. they did a mashup of Warhorse and MLP, i thought the spoof was funny. but then one day i was trying to find a song by an artist, but only knew a song lyric. after typing 'frustrated' in the search bar on Youtube, i found fluttershy screaming in frustration. I kinda thought it was a little wierd and never really saw it again.

I kinda started out as a hater, but overtime i had gotten more exposure to it adn began to watch clips like flutterage, twilight's freakout moment, Pinkie pie's inanimate objects party, and others. i started to see the more random side of MLP and after watching eps and watching vids from other bronies i finally decided to join the herd. now, i feel awesome about it.

so far, i've gotten many friend requests and i've taken a deeper look into the pony culture. what's cool about it is it's kinda like punk rock. you get to be yourself and do what you like. it's not like a clique where you have to conform to some rules and look and act exactly like the next guy. i think i'm really gonna like it here.

hXc i ain't like you and i don't wantyour love and i don't need your respect!!!! hXc
