All aboard the Zootopia hype thread!

So today this trailer went up. As someone who is super in to anthro, this caught my eye immediately. It's been a while since we've seen an anthro movie from Disney (I thought of Robin Hood right away). :D

Anyway, I have more thoughts on this for later, but I wanted to know what people think of this movie - both in how it will compare to past Disney movies, and what kind of light it will shine on the furry fandom.

Man, a game like that would be awesome.

Seriously, that looks like fun. Disney has recovered from the Chicken Little/Incredibles/Cars (still making horrble Planes movies cough) days, and their newer stuff has been pretty great. Can wait to see it.

And at this rate, Disney may just have enough money to take over the United States government, then use it's large scale military to conquer the rest of the world, and force Let It Go to be the new world orders national anthem.

People. We have a crisis here.

A disney movie? That I'm actually looking forward to? Well that's rare. I'm pretty hyped about this movie, though I'm definitely going to miss the style of animation (and art style) of the disney robin hood movie. (how did I not know about this movie till now...)

I'm looking forward to this movie seeing how it's directed by the genius who directed Bolt and directed by the genius who previously directed Wreck It Ralph, plus I love Disney movies and it'll be cool to see a movie based around animals that talk and live life much like we do as humans, plus the teaser trailer had me laughing and going "aww" at the same time.

OMG!!

I was SO STOKED when I heard about this a couple years ago!!

I have a feeling this is going to be a new addiction for me when it comes out.

EDIT: And on another note, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna wind up shipping the Fox and the Rabbit characters.

I said that to myself when I read the early synopsis and I'm saying it now. I won't commit to it until I see the film because I might end up like them more as friends or like siblings, but yeah, not going to be surprised if I ship them as a couple by the end.

Nice a original movie and from just watching that trailer I am liking what I am seeing so far. Put my good ol buddy Daxter in this movie and you got an instant fan already. *Off topic* I really wished they would have made a animated series for the Jak & Daxter games... I for one would have loved to see this happen. Playing through the Jax & Daxter series reminded me of watching a animated series with all the wonderful cut-scenes it had. The naughty ottsel ;) Naughty Dog do your old fans a favor and reboot the Jax series.

Haha!! I'm loving all the little tidbits in the trailer.

I love that the joggers run like their real life counterparts do.

And that lion in the suit looks EXACTLY like King Richard from Robin Hood.

GADS, I'm stoked!! 8D

Looks very interesting! The idea of despite how these anthropomorphic animals behave like humans and yet still have animalistic traits and qualities is very refreshing and has potential for a fun and interesting adventure.

I'll definitely check it out. I've honestly been pretty much impressed with Disney ever since Big Hero 6, and I hope for many more fun movies like this upcoming one.

Yeah Incredibles is pretty awesome. 83

Though seriously, I love Cars. I'm one of the rare people that does, but it's so close to my heart!! <3

Lets face it, Disney probably has enough money to genetically engineer their own real life anthropomorphic animals if they wanted to.

My guess is that they don't have near enough. But I'd like to see them try, just for the heck of it.

I don't know what to say about this. The writing and style of the trailer looks pretty snappy and so does the art style (to an extent), but I'm getting a serious Chicken Little vibe from this. One of the problems I had with that movie were the incessant, age-old animal-related visual gags that the average grandma could easily have written.

Disney's been making a move towards more genre-savvy, personal projects as of late, so I'm actually kinda looking forward to this.

Everyone's saying that.

Yeah there will be animal-stereotype jokes, but what made Chicken Little suck was a disjointed story and a cast of nasty characters.

I'll bet you a virtual cookie that Zootopia is going to move people to tears in the end, something Chicken Little can't claim.

Though I am going to be a little sad if ONLY mammalian characters are in the film.

There's kind of no reason to restrict the characters to ONLY warm-blooded terrestrial animals.

Very true. The top thing was the glaring lack of focus CL had on the story side. ZT looks to be much more creative once you take a look at the synopsis, and inspired when really considering how different in style the trailer makes this film out to be. I think it's probably the first anthro film to actually use the word "anthropomorphic", showing it may have a certain sharpness and genre savvy CL sorely lacked.

As for the representation issue, mammals are just easier to draw. ^_^ Though it won't be long until we hear outcry for reptile, amphibian, and avian representation in movies.
